I don't mind laundry at all. I try to do the one load a day and finish the cycle methods, so if I start a load I wash, dry, fold, and put it away in the same day. Doesn't always happen, but in general it works pretty well.
I would have lost my mind. We have an almost 2 yr old and he hasn't yet done this with the laundry. I love your videos and am so happy to finally find someone on RUclips who shares the same religious values and beliefs I do.
I remind myself of that same tip all the time! Complete the cycle...because who wants to have to do it later? It's a daily struggle but having the free time to do something else later on is its own reward :)
I do the same thing with my apron. An apron means work! Can't believe the size of your laundry pile!!! Most of all clothes get hung out to dry and I'm good at folding when I bring it in. My biggest thing is getting the ironing done (even though I don't mind it) and I've been working on putting it away when I'm finished - like you said finishing the job :-).
I live here in Germany and the one thing that I really adapted from my mother in law is to wash everyday, fold and put it away. If you do it everyday instead of once a week like I was doing, you never get that huge pile. Now sometimes we have extra work or we have house guest and I wait, it is a nightmare...like 4 loads of clothes. UGH!! Try it out.
When each of my kids hit 11 yrs of age, they do their own laundry. Takes some of the laundry grind off me. Your daughter was so cute putting the laundry back.
I like doing laundy, I hang everything (dont have a dryer) and fold and put it away usually the same day. Or the next. The pile that keeps growing is the to iron pile. I like to take 1 or 2 hours and do all the ironing needed instead of iron everytime I do laundry. I used to hate doing dishes (yup all by hand, no dishwasher either) but now when I started with my new habit of watching you Kimmie while I do dishes its not a big deal for me anymore :D I think I hate dusting the most ;)
My boys would have loved to jump off the couch into your laundry pile...lol... Also that must be a magic apron cause you got that laundry folder like a SuperMom!!
I do one or two loads a day and fold them as I take them out of the dryer so I don't get a "clothes monster"...lol. I do rags, then towels, then husbands work clothing, his "nice" clothing, kids clothing, mine & then whites. Sheets are done usually on Fridays. I kinda have a little routine. It's easier to wash everyones stuff separate because it's all going to the same place once folded (at least for me).
*NO WAY!!* Laundry is the worst chore that's ever existed. Ever! I will say this, when all three of my kids were living at home, I allowed laundry to become an *avalanche,* over a seven day period of time. *NO!! Never again!* I spent nearly 8 hours doing laundry. That's absurd. And, to make matters worse, I've always had O.C.D., especially when it comes to zero stains, zero wrinkles. :-) So, from that ridiculously crazy *experiment,* I never allowed laundry to build up for more than two days. It's so much easier doing laundry every day. Also, I *HAVE* to take clothes out of the dryer as soon as they are dry. I fold them, & hang *all* shirts while hot/warm. Then, far less wrinkles, etc. I almost *passed out* just from *looking* at that mountain of laundry you had to tackle!! My goodness. :-)
I've assigned days to the different laundry, my boys have Saturday/ sunday mornings, mine is mommy Mondays, the husband gets father Fridays, then the rest of the week is towels when needed twice a month on Tuesdays or Thursdays "we have enough towels for a months worth of showers" and fresh bedsheets on Sundays but I wash them on Wednesdays I have one set for on the bed and one for in the wash. This way its not taking me all day to wash and fold clothes. We are a family of 4. I also wash the dog bedding on Tuesdays. It works for us.
It's only my husband and myself. I do a cold load and a hot load for clothing on Monday, a cold clothing load on Wednesday, cat litter box towels get washed Monday/Wednesday/Friday and a towel wash on Sunday. My fancy blouses and jeans/dress slacks get washed on Friday and they hang dry through Saturday and Sunday. I fold on Fridays (huge amount) and Sundays (not-so-huge amount). I'm quite neurotic with scheduling things!
I love to vacuum and I hate more than anything doing the dishes no dishwasher so I have to wash everything by hand, I don't like folding and putting away laundry and ironing too. My favorite thing to do is cook/bake.
I help my mom fold laundry while we watch hockey games on tv. the first period is dishes 1 intermission is vacuuming/dusting second period is folding laundry and the intermission is putting it away. then we do face masks while the third period is on! I love game nights! :)
I do a load or two a day. Each person gets a day we are a family of four. Towels and sheets get added to the mix one day a week. I keep everything done that way other wise it am doing loads and loads a day.
Thanks for the motivation! I don't mind laundry for the most part but with 2 kids 3&1 and one on the way, the kids clothes always turns in to a pile :( Soooo many more tiny things fit in a basket! It's like doing 3 loads of reg stuff! UGH! HiHo, HiHo, it's off to the laundry room I go, I'll wash, I'll fold, I'll put them away, hiho hiho hiho hiho. lol singing makes any chore more fun!
I have 3 girls, and they are all pretty close in size so I can never remember who's clothes are whose, so I don't fold their laundry anymore. I wash and dry their clothes then they have to fold and put their own away. I try to get it all done in one day on Mondays.. its been working pretty good for us.
"Complete the cycle"..... I have a problem with that too and I don't have ADD lol. Do you Iron it all? I was brought up to Iron EVERYTHING!.... and like an idiot up to recently I did!!! now i realize its ok to fold and put away things that really don't need ironing... derrr, how slow am I ? Love your videos, i also suffer anxiety, not so bad these days but it's usually feeling overwhelmed with the house that triggers it. De-cluttering the fly lady way at the moment and its great. Big hugs from the UK X
I always did laundry until each laundry at home was full, and for me was the time to do it, thinking in saving energy. Wrong!!!! Because I never finished the cycle and put the clothes away. Now I am doing it almost daily, an because it is a little amount it is very easy for me to finish the cycle. I notice that if I don't do it this way, pretty soon I am trying to avoid my laundry duty. By the way, I think, I am ADHD too!
your kids are old enough to do their own laundry, show them how and release your self of so much stress. you do to much when you have kids and a husband who can help you . your a great mom for doing all the laundry for your kids but they should help. my son does his ,mine and general laundry , i fold it some times if im board ,and he puts his and the towels away and my youngest puts hers away and my oldest girl does her own. call some one while you do laundry, use speaker phone or watch tv
Seeing That Pile of Laundry & When Sister messed up Brothers Clothes I almost end Fainted LOL I don't mind Washing Drying & Folding & putting on Hangers but Putting Away UGH I just don't wanna do it ... Cuz when I put away I always start cleaning or Tidying up other stuff
I HATE washing my car and vacuuming it. So I drive around the "Pigpen" car that is always dusty. I don't mind most indoor chores. Don't love doing the dishes if I have just made a big meal. I just want to sit down! :)
just to say you didn't motivate me, I was already doing mine but you u did keep me company and it was lovely. Shaylee looked much older today x maybe if you did your clean up song for me all day my house would be spick and span mmmmmmmmm x
I don't mind laundry and the folding of it. Mind you I don't have a family, so it's just my laundry. I hate ironing, so try and buy things that don't need ironing:)

Do you have tips for folding sheets - both the bottom sheet and the top sheet?
Yes! I was thinking about that when I was folding that fitted sheet. I will put that on my vlog list :)
When do you do your ironing ?Do you iron as you wear it or do you do it all in one go
We Iron as we wear. I try to buy Deric's clothes that don't wrinkle easily.
See now this is what happens when I fold everything I leave the room to put something away and it looks like my laundry exploded because of my toddler
I hate dishes and I don't mind laundry either
my kids each do their own but they are all older - and we don't sort - gasp! But it works for me!
That's great. Kally is starting to do her own.
I despise folding white clothes, socks are tedious. and even though I have a dish washer I detest doing dishes....;)
