Skyrim's almost casual difficulty of combat, flat enemy AI and lack of challenge is always an issue to a long-time fan. Today, we'll change that by transforming Skyrim into a game of truly hardcore difficulty - incredibly challenging, but all the same rewarding and fun. Let's take a look on some of the best Skyrim mods to turn its difficulty to the brand new level! Mod list is fully modular, meaning you can install all of these mods or just some of them, up to your taste - so even if you don't want game to be that hard, you can find plenty of mods for your setup here.
Mods are available for Skyrim LE, Skyrim SE (mostly) and few of them are available for Skyrim players on XBOX one (but sadly not many).

Q: Which game version it is in your video?
A: It's Skyrim LE (original Skyrim, not the Special Edition). Skyrim LE is better for modding (better ENB visuals for graphics, more gameplay mods, better stability and no mod-breaking CC updates).

Q: What PC specs are needed to run same/similar mod list?
A: Not such a NASA PC as you may think! GTX 980/1070, i5 6600, 12GB+ RAM. If your specs are +/- close to these, you can run literally the same graphics setup on 1080p at 60 fps. Just follow my guide linked above, and you'll be perfectly fine :)

I have been trying for over a week to find the mod that contains the small bow featured on your character in most of your videos. It is the metallic colored semi modern looking short bow/ horn bow. It almost looks like a modern compound bow, but without the pulleys. Thanks for your great videos. I subbed after watching your content for the first time.

I can see myself spend weeks perfecting a hardcore modlist then rage quitting after playing for a day.
Every time I finish making a working list of mods, I play it a couple days before finding other mods and starting over again...

I want a hardcore mod for skyrim for my vr playthrough.
In my quest for making Skyrim as Immersive as possible, i have to say OBIS, SIM and DCO are really some of the best mods ever made.
I love OBIS but I don’t have enough room for it on Xbox. So I am using some other rather decent bandit mod. I could use the no face gen version of OBIS, but those face textures Lol
I know about OBIS and DCO (man, I love DCO with a passion) but what is SIM? I've never heard of it.

@Urusovite by average do you mean a fricken gtx 1090ti because that is not average my base computer can only run Skyrim at 60fps if it is poor however I can use my best graphics card which btw is a gtx 960 to play Skyrim with medium on the worst of days at 60 best days are ultra
@Urusovite lol I barely afforded a 256 USD pc (that is like 75%of the average monthly wage where I live by the way XD)
My pc is average($950) and runs mods easily
Watched the video for some nostalgia and I had already played 90% of the mods shown, only missing on some unique encounters. Really nice list, covers every major difficulty mod very nicely, and you combine those mods that fit correctly with each other like UC and Wildcat. Tbh if I ever have time to jump back into skyrim I this video will help me remember every unskipable mod to have a decent combat expirience. Among them Deadly Dragons is probably one of the best lategame mods, making Dragons so strong that following main story is near suicidal unless you got the proper gear and stats to start hunting dragons and following the main questline. Some of my best memories is fighting multiple dragons using unique abilities and calling for reinforcements while some random encounter just gets in and starts fighting me and the dragons at the same time, while some imperial patrol shows up and everything becomes a bloody mess.

I just realized your patreon tiers include making mod lists, now going to have to consider and save up some money lol. I get awful migraines due to eyesight issues nowadays and can only do minimal modding now. and this makes skyrim look like tons of fun. love your skyrim videos. :)

One time I down loaded all of milhails mods and, it totally flooded my game, it was unplayable, not because of lag but because every time I walked 15 steps a leshin or Nordic colossus would destroy me, do you actually personally use all of the unique bosses linked in the dock?

Wounds affects only player. For enemies injuries, just use Wildcat's ones. And thanks!

Deadly dragons and dragon combat overhaul make the game so crazy in high levels. Imagine fighting a dragon and then it call other dragons. It's like fighting flying battlemages lol
What's the third person camera mod you're using?
If I remember correctly, there is an injury system in Wildcat. How does Wounds work with that?
IIRC you simply disable Wildcat's wound system in the mcm.

Both wildcat and ultimate combat have stamina cost options. Are there other features that stamina matters covers not already included in these?
Yes. Stamina Matters features are absolutely different mostly.
I wish there was a mod similar to RDR2's high and low honor, and plus whatever actions you choose like thievery, looting, challenging foes, berserk or sneaky play style, a title will be bestowed upon you and people will recognize your behaviours and comment or criticize you like if an NPC comments on you if you've been looting too much, he will say," Oh look, the King of Loots/looting has returned, whatever fine treasures have you collected this day haha", and this especially applies to vendors or merchants. I hope my suggestion can reach those mod authors who are proficient in this type of modding.❤️❤️❤️
Which mod do you use to display equipment on your back? I went through your mod list and I couldn't find Geared up derivative, so I'm assuming it's something else.

How about ones that just alter the enemy groups to be a little more tactical? Something like bandits and bandit mages working together to make well rounded parties to make the player have to think about how they approach each encounter. Should I deal with the frontline while the back pelts me with arrows and swamps me in conjured minions, or rush the backline and have the 2h barbarian power attack me from behind?

@@SinitarGOBIS right? I was using bandits as an example, but other factions like dwarven machinery, falmer, or vampires could probably have the same amount of tactical consideration.

Tbf when even most non-exploit vanilla builds (basically any that use crafting lol) are broken af and some of us bring followers with broken gear, AND most of us use the other mods that are cool to have but make the game even easier, -- multi-tier difficulty is necessary or you win every fight in like 2 seconds even on legendary.

Is it possible to make Skyrim harder than Dark Souls? I want 5k entries into my Dead is Dead modding log
it can be post-apocalyptic actually, imagine fighting 250 skeletons inside tomb. Imagine fighting 1st dragon for 6h. Imagine fighting 2 Dragons, 1 dragon lord. Imagine all these while you got 6 NPCs as your crew and still trying to make it work. Skyrim can be everything you want. Imagine being 60 lvl and not being able to fight Alduin. Imagine with OBIS+ASIS+APOCALYPSE to fight 10 bandits in random encounter with the one being even to you. Imagine having epic chaotic battles from civil encounters, mammoth encounters, giant encounter, and a group of drakes (5 as team) being there with another 2 drakes of sparks and ice (so magic and stamina gets low). Never ending scenarios. Being terrified by an archer is a thing. Falmer can't be occupied easily either. Many capabilities.
I’ll suggest ultimate dragon too, like ultimate combat it add new attack animation for dragons that looks really badass
Same. After trying all the dragon overhauls I'd recommend ultimate dragons and ks dragon overhaul 2 paired.

I wish bring your silver had mobs that had better resistances and weaknesses.... like elves would be weak to iron and dwarven, but resistant to steel, elven, and glass even though iron is weak af, and glass is stronger than everything else mentioned. While sliver is a common weakness to vampires, wood (and bone if you want) is also a weakness, while most everything else they'd be nigh immune to. ... and atronachs should be the equivilent to elementals... so fire would heal fire atronachs (along with fire enchantments) be immune to wood, and glass, weak af to ash and ice... and extrapolate from there.
But is it Morrowind hard

What would be a good mod with this loadout or in general to delevel skyrim? Make it more like gothic u know.
Play Gothic. Deleveled Skyrim makes no sense due to game design, and no amount of mods can do this properly.
@@SinitarG a shame. I prefer deleveled worlds since morrowind and gothic cuz it feels more realistic.

Sinistar, my friend has a problem: Combining Revenge of the Enemies and Ultimate COmbat makes his draugr ans skeletons to resurrect 2 times everytime. Any idea how to fix it? He is using even sacrosant, migh that be the coulprit?
None of the listed mods is the culprit.
@@SinitarG Aww, sadly i can't provide you rn with the full modlist, do you know of any mod that might have that feature? It's not Immersive Creatures since the skeletons usually have the black mist when ther ress with IC.
True Undead Reborn and Elemental Apocalypse Magic (do not confuse with Apocalypse spellpack) mods, check those.

I also wanna thank you for you skyrim guide, it' over an year i'm playing with 700+ mods with almost no crashes (I sometimes get the C++ error, or a CTD after many hours of gaming).
I installed skyrim revamped and now i just find overleveled enemies that hit kill me
