After buying the individual lesson, I purchased the "Learn To Play C6 Lap Steel" download, and in my opinion it's well worth checking out. Tons of information, tabs, explanations, examples of techniques, a great selection of songs to learn/play, etc. Not affiliated in any way, but believe in giving props to individuals like this, it's as advertised. Also, after purchasing, I had a download question and Joe responded within 30 minutes. Lap steel is an underrated instrument, just love the amazing range of possible tones, especially paired with some delay and reverb. Looking forward to learning more, thanks JoeDoc:)

Thank you , Kelly! Much appreciated. I'm always glad to answer questions - lap steel still fascinates me after many years of guitar, bass and lap steel playing. Such a beautiful instrument with surprising flexibility. Thanks so much for your support :) best, joe

C6 Lap Steel lessons are pretty sparse here on RUclips and as a beginner Lap Steel player, what I found was more advanced for what I wanted or I didn't like their teaching style. For the price of what it would cost for an hour Lap Steel lesson you can Purchase Joe's 2 CD set. It's very well laid out and easy to follow and after watching just few short video's you can grasp the basic concepts that would make this video less intimidating to a beginner. I'm enjoying his videos and after for months of frustration, I finally have a sense of direction on this instrument. Thanks Joe

Joe did a great job. I can highly recommend the Sleep walk lesson and especially the C6 lap steel ebook. I played guitar for 30 years and this year I went into Weissenborn, Dobro and lap steel. For C6 the ebook covers everything you wanna know - basics, theory, lessons, licks and many more!

I'm coming to lap steel from dobro, and always play with picks. Instead of using the finger tip for harmonics (there's no fleshy part of the finger available when I'm using picks), I use the palm of my hand, which works fine and for me and feels more natural. Thanks for a great lesson.

After buying numerous cheaper c6 books and dvds and being very disappointed with the all of them I bought the 2 disk set off ebay. I wish I'd bought these first. They pretty much contain everything I need to at least play along with my backing tracks at home. I think it will be a long time of practice to outgrow these dvds but at least I cant blame the teaching anymore. I can already play sleepwalk respectably after a month of learning, and im picking up so many tips just by watching bits every day. like today ive learned just bending one string I turn all the top minors into major chords. seems simple but I never would have thought to do it. fully recommend these dvds and e book. I didnt think i would need the ebook but its more in depth than just watching the dvd... learning to love my lap steel...
