Hope that rare does make it available to Playstation, I want my friends to experience this amazing game
I just started my pirate journey with some friends like 2 weeks ago and getting a hand at everything as a new player has been easier than I thought it was going to be on a 5 years old game but the game is still kinda hard. Mechanically, the player gun pvp is really easy coming from an fps genre but micromanaging the boat and such is a whole new thing and has revealed to be the hardest part.
You'll get used to it. I recommend running a sloop to help acclimate you to the multitasking because it's made to be handled by 1 or 2 players.

On a sloop specifically I will tell you this. You don't have to repair a hole the moment you get it. You can in fact wait a little bit and put some pressure down on another ship (if you're fighting an enemy player) before repairing. Also, listen for the death groan of your ship as your "oh shit I forgot to bail" sound que
Keep at it mate! You'll get the hang of it!
one thing i will say, unless you are confident you can secure a sink without your ship, dont let your ship sink, because its not JUST a ship, your ship is functionally your mobile respawn platform!
the number of people who abandoned their ship to try to kill me, only to be out of the fight early cause they chose that over fixing their ship, it just shows they cant comprehend how important having a point of respawn next to your enemy really is
beyond that, yeah, the games mechanics are definitely simple, but the skill ceiling is one of the highest in nearly any game i have seen since there is more to combat than just who has better aim! it doesnt matter if you got aim with a sniper, if you cant use your cannons or dont know when to grab a bucket and wood, you will lose!
If it drops for Playstation that would be sick as hell, I would love to see more players

No never, no nope sot does NOT need more players. Newbies in SoT are already the worst thing known to mankind not only that but SoT developers will also keep favoring new players over the veterans that are literally the only people keeping this game alive at this point of tome in SoT history since updates and new additions into the game are like rarer than a furry with a father. I have no problem with SoT on Playstation but this will just bring in more fcking noobs.

@@jinx7641 all that new content is catered TOWARDS those new players though. not only that, balancing will be more in favour of what new players, who are all going to be shit at pvp want. it's fucked the game already with harpoon boarding and quickswitching being removed for example. more players in general are good, but not when those new players are all potentially whiney brats who complain about shit because they still suck and rare listens to them like it's a sugar daddy situation.
@Cqat1 Without new players, you wouldn't really have a living game. Actual veterans are much rarer than you would think. And, yes, of course the game is going to be catered to what is going to be the majority of the playerbase?? it's not as big of an issue as people have been making it out to be brah. They're expanding and making the game more accessible to grow, which you should absolutely be excited about.

I think we need sot to come to ps as the player base is at an all time low and rare could use the extra motivation to actually somewhat satisfy the player base
the playerbase is not at an all time low, its only at an all time low on steam, but considering factors like needing the game on xbox game pass or an xbox store for some bonus cosmetics, and the fact that before it launched on steam the majority of players were already playing it through xbox means that steams stats are not reliable to gauge the actual player count by

got me laughing real good at 1:01 to 1:05 and 3:32 to 3:44 (Funny to think that new anti cheat is the only thing we'll get in that that list) and couple of other moments. Jokes apart, pretty sure switch release would be on the next gen version (Switch 2), and I hope we get the chance to choose which kind of server we get (dedicated to consoles (switch, ps and xbox being different servers) / crossplay for all / local safer seas?). In my opinion I think the hourglass stuff will be a capital supremacy but with the forts around the game. Seeing how there are skeleton commendations for taking on ghosts, it makes sense
Looking at every update the game has had the past year it makes a lot of sense if they are prepping for a PS release and the fact that this rumor had popped up right when there about to release there last update for awhile that improves on the base systems of the game, it kinda all clicks into place if the rumor is true

funny how falcore failed to mention that both sources mentioned that the rumors are old and possibly were only discussed. considering that the recent leaked court docs failed to mention any SOT ps port(which would've made sense for them to mention during the whole cma fight).

It's worth noting that the Switch has several "cloud version" ports of games that the Switch normally couldn't handle. Considering MS already has SOT on their cloud gaming service, it wouldn't be stretch for them to "port" SOT to the Switch that way.
SoT on Switch is not a reasonable port to make, but that hasn't stopped publishers from porting even worse games for Switch hardware.
I'm doubtful the Switch version will work with cloud gaming, considering the spare change & gum budget they provide Rare for the servers. SoT still looks ok on lower graphics settings thanks to its style, so it might not even need dynamic resolution with maybe the exception for siren shrines.
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 I agree the port doesn't make a lot of sense, but if MS is offering it to them and promising good performance because of "the cloud" then I don't see Nintendo saying no. The PS5 port seems much more reasonable.
I mean the fact that we don't even have a trailer yet is pretty worrying. We normally have it a month ish 3 weeks ish before the actual patch.

Hopefully you guys'll get to use motion aim. Ever since launch there's been a disparity between xbox and PC players because it's so much harder to aim shit with an xbox contoller, and I always knew deep down that motion aim would do a lot to mend that.

Well.. Season 10 looked better then season 9 also.. so I don't know if we should have too much hope for season 11.
Also.. yes, if I were an whole new player to the game it would be an whole different and more interesting experience then what I get now a days when I start the game up.
Like I remember the feeling.. it is insane what an difference there is between now and then when it comes to experience.. I had no idea where the hell I were on the map.. everything was scary and exciting.. I remember first time I did the Ashen wind World event for the first time.. I had no idea what I was doing, it seriously is insane how big difference there is.
And I think Most of us want to have that feeling again with this game.

I can’t imagine Sea of Thieves looking good on Switch, and i said that about No Man’s Sky and that plays beautifully on switch.
I think it is worth noting here that the switch will run the offline version of No Man's Sky which is really no slouch in the graphics department. There's absolutely no reason you couldn't play Safer Seas on a Switch if we bare that in mind. That was well timed, eh?

i have some friends on playstation, it would be great to have crossplay and introduce them to this game...
lets just remember Ark is on the switch, so SOT can def run, idk how well, but it can run
the switch might be getting an upgrade sometime this year and even im not 100% certain on that
but if sot were to eventually be ported to switch then it would almost certainly confirm a new console

Rare needs to get rid of old gen support. We need whatever can let them add more to the game like more boats and players
its probably less rares doing and more microsoft, but im not sure old gen support will affect much other than them having to try to optimize stuff so it runs better, or at least attempting to do so
the servers running poorly isnt because of old gen support, its an optimization issue, cause the servers arnt running on old gen consoles, rather the other way around

I’ve got friends who only have a PlayStation, I would LOVE cross compatibility so we can play together (I’m XBox).
Especially with the player base who were let down by skull and bones. This would be the perfect opportunity to fill that gap with a better pirate game to beat out the already decimated competition before we get to comfortable.

I don't know how to say this without triggering some people or sounding dumb.... But I would not be surprised if SOT is positioning itself to go f2p. It is a live service game that requires you to own AND have gamepass core to play on the Xbox.
They have long considered themselves live service, and afaik they are one of the few live service titles that require you to own and subscribe to a monthly platform service.
With the addition of the pve mode, quick travel, and more tutorials it is apparent that they are anticipating a new, different demographic.
As a playstation player, who plays sea of thieves on their pc, I would love it if it came to playstation so I can force my playstation friends to play it

A bigger playerbase for an always online game is just logical. Microsoft Xbox has become more of a service rather than a more traditional platform in my view. Also crossplay between both consoles would be nice.

I have more than 1000 hours of Sea Of Thieves and I can say that it is a very good game since 2020 and now I'm on the PS5 and I can say that many on PlayStation have an absurd desire to play this game so if it came to the PlayStation it would be received with great satisfaction

I believe xbox cares about games pass subscription and game sales more than xbox System Sales. So, a port to ps5 would fit this belief.
I haven’t played it myself as it doesn’t interest me, but apparently MLB The Show on xbox, shows a PS logo or something like that. If SoT came to PS, I wonder if they would still get the Xbox logo. 😆
