i'm buying this set because it's cheaper then buying like 3 washes from citadel, games workshop pricing models are criminal, i don't care if their paint is better, it's not "better enough" to justify having to spend literally more on paint then you did on a start collecting box of whatever. it's utterly disgusting, you spend 80$ on a starter box for your army , but then it'll cost 120$ for the paints to paint them, there is no reason for that pricing, they outsource everything from china so they are not paying over head, or insurance, their not a small company hand making these paints by growing little beetles and harvesting their thoraxes to make pigment, they name all their colors dumb stuff so no one without an art degree can color match them properly so people who want to paint from the box art will spend the money on their paints, because how would you make leadblecher anyways. it's time for us consumers to fight back, GW has been screwing us for 30 years, viva la miniloution!
i'm...sorry .....i had a lot of coffee just now....
Vallejo paints are better than GW's anyways. Vallejo has a wider range, cheaper pricing, and honestly dropper bottles > pots.
@@TeaIngyer vallejo for paints, army painter for washes. there's a couple of metal paints you want from gw tho imo. but yeah.
Dude u are the BEST !!! Im relatively new to the hobby and always wanted to see such a comparison video ,since the GW washes and paints are more expensive than armypainter, and i cant spend lots of money buying from both to experiment myself.your video is a big help, and i mean it.
Tip. Save the plastic insert that holds the bottles. It can be repurposed into a nearly perfect wet palette.
you all prolly dont care but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Moises Alec instablaster :)
@Phoenix Fox Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Phoenix Fox It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account!
@Moises Alec Happy to help xD
I recommend not not quickly flicking the paint around the model, that creates bubbles in the wash and makes weird looking open circles when it drys. You should slowly push everything around.
Im surprised that the soft and strong tone didnt come out more brown then they did. Thats my experience with em at least.
I didn't put any of the washes on heavily, half of each model was painted with a watered down version of each wash. -Sam
I've got Army Painter washes. They really are great, I kid you not. Great value and probably a bit better than citadel. To be honest, I'd make my own washes before I'd go with citadel. It's just the convenience and price that has me giving a thumbs up to army painter. Don't get me wrong though, the army painter washes really are good, very handy and versatile. Citadel is a bit too clumpy and opaque. Each to their own though.
what do you use to strip down a mini that you used with this but are not happy with the results?
Very interesting thank you. I have used these purely as washes but will employ them for other things like blending and shading. Take care, Rob
Do you need to use a wash that corresponds to the colour it's being used on?. I.e a green wash on greenskin?
I'm buying this set because of your review.
Awesome, let us know how you get on mate -Sam
I wish you had done the half and half comparison for all colours. I'm very much considering switching to AP washes as they're so much cheaper and seem to stain less.
I think the army painter washes are their best product. Not really a fan of their paints though, I end up using Vallejo instead.
Right - Left = difficult when camera is mirrored 😅😅
I am kinda new to miniature painting but not new to art painting why do u have to buy washes and glazes can't u mix then urself
Awesome review, my friend! I'll have to grab some of these!

It's a great set, thanks for watching as always bud -Sam
Luna Wolves and Old paint World Eaters and this is the hot ticket
I love these washes. They do flow very well over the model.
Glad you enjoyed, they were a joy to use and I'm looking forward to using them in future paint jobs! Thanks for watching -Sam
I mostly use Vallejo but in my opinion citadel's are the best washes around. Secret weapon's are also good but they have a satin finish and are best 4 specific applications. Also citadel paints, whatever they say and despite the lack of dropper bottles, are great. Army painter's cost half the price but when they dry up u can really see u get an uneven and stainy result.
They're great but I've found every single one of them leaks somehow, and dries out no matter how hard I keep the cap sealed. It's very frustrating, but I have had great success with the base quickwashes (soft, strong and dark). So much so that I bought a 250mL can to last me a very long time.
That's a shame, these are new versions I believe which are released today so I'm not sure if they changed the pots to avoid that problem I will have to let you know but at least you have the 250ml can to last a bit :) -Sam
Yeah, I did notice that but didn't mention it - you're using newer pots, so like GW they have likely improved on their old containers. Nice review though man, liking the content thanks for sharing!
Not a problem, let's hope they are new and improved! -Sam
Good video! And question: anybody have a some kind of gloss effect after using flesh wash?
Nice breakdown! Thank you!
As a beginning painter this is fantastic demonstration of the set. Convince me I should get this as first wash set
Great review it really helped me out, thanks.🇨🇦
That guide comes with every box as far as I can tell, I got the same thing in my set I got for Christmas.
Very good washes . Use them all the time . : )))
Thanks for watching and for the feedback :) -Sam
Which set do you recommend more for a beginner who's never used washes before? I like that the army painter set has more colors but the citadel washes seem to cover more consistantly.
noder mark overall I prefer the citadel paints but I haven’t used the army painter ones a huge amount. I generally use agrax earth shade and nuln oil for washes and regularly use Drakenhof blue and carroburg crimson for tinting colours as well as reikland for flesh tones. Those 5 generally do everything I need but you may end up using more- Sam
excellent video, earned a sub
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed -Sam
how do you stick your models to the corks?
I did a quick video on it :D I pin them all! ruclips.net/video/YS3iETJPolM/видео.html

Robin Alexander it’s a wash.
Sorry. WHO are you ???
Are you a "Name" in the painting World? Google says "NO!"
They are supposed to be watery you moron.
