This side of a Ferrari this is simply one of the most beautiful coupes ever. I had 406 saloons as company cars back in the mid 90s and coverted one of theses... and still do!
I owned a 1999 v6 coupe 15 years ago. Simply the best car I've ever owned. what a masterpiece.. that only became more and more apparent after owning many new much more expensive cars since then. nothing beats it.
Well done. Really good to see the coop so nearly back on the road. It is a very satisfying thing to get what looked like a dead car, back to a tidy and useable state. Just a crazy thought, I was watching Coldwarmotors the other day. Scott is rebuilding a Ford model T and he can get just about every part for a nearly 100 year old car. And now, parts for quite serviceable, fairly recent cars are just gone. I know the logic of holding stock for obsolete cars and all that but it just seems a bit nuts? Probabl just me being stupid.
Another great video. I watch for the simplicity and down to earthness. Never get any more professional 😂 as a side note, where do you get the number plates? I'm after one for my pre 2000 😉😉
"Never get any more professional” - no chance of that! As for the plates, I used fancyplates.com for these. Check out Retro Plates on Instagram - I'll be using them for the ZX.
Just find a 406 coupé from 1998 only 10100 km not driven sins 2013 and was in a heated garage until for little over a year ago just bought it today starting work on it next week ☺️ thanks for all the great videos on the 406 coupé ☺️☺️
Looking gorgeous! Didn't catch what you said about the bonnet? If sticky latch, mine recently had that, but fixed with some GT-85 spray and persistent wiggling.
Have you changed the gearbox oil yet ?. Absolute must on the Asin Warner SN51-55 gearbox. Peugeot, Renault, Volvo, and Saab all said the gearbox was sealed for life. But thats a big no. Asin Warner say oil change at 75,000 miles. Use correct Esso 3309 type oil. You will need 9 Litres to do 3 Drains and re-fills, to get most of the oil out of the torque converter. Running for 15mins between each drain.
It's not easy doing the camera work as well but you shouldn't worry too much. It's not so bad as to spoil my viewing pleasure. I've been mostly using a smart phone to press which is ok, generally falls to hand etc... I've recently started using a DJI Osmo Action camera and the image stabilization is superb. 👌 That said there are issues such as the on board audio is shocking unless you use additional audio equipment. I would like to try using a DSLR but the cost can soon run away..
@@Petrolblog I've not yet invested in a gimbal. I've used suction cup type phone mounts inside the car and they vary in quality (and stability). If you were to use a go pro or DJI Osmo action the Go Pro mounts for both and the suction cup has never failed me for interior or exterior use.
For the exhaust put some vactan on it, it'll stop the rust and prime for some metallic paint, shame the car wasn't made before 1990 then you could legitimately go full serck

I recall that even the saloon versions had a reputation for handling very well.
I don't think there's a bad angle on the 406 Coupé. Beautiful.

This is my favourite car of the fleet just because of my history with them
Me too because of my history with them too!
I won't claim that it's my favourite (yet), but things could change once she's on the road...

Nice videos. Great to see you wearing rubberboots/wellies!!!
Im glad to see another coupe restoration :)
Greetings from coupe owner
Greetings to you, too! How's your Coupé?
Great to see progression with the 406! I actually seen a 407 V6 coupe the other day and thought of your channel

I use GT85 for lots of applications. I find it very useful.
Cheers. Will make some adjustments and apply a liberal coating of GT-85. It's great stuff!

Thanks for the tip - really appreciate it. Will change the oil if/when it gets through the MOT.
Peugeot styling was great around this time. Nice and simple but great looking cars, I hope car design heads back in that direction.
It'd be nice, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Shame!
Beautiful 406 you have. Are parts easy to find, like specific coupe body parts ? Thanks
It’s a lovely car, keep it up! If the tyres are road legal don’t extend your to do list!
Cheers! Got a good deal on some new Falkens, so took the plunge.
She bangs - Ricky Martin?
Yep, that's the fella. Cheers!
She Bangs was sung by Ricky Martin, year 2000 - very appropriate to this 406 Coupe's era.
That's the fella. A top score on Popmaster awaits you, Owen!
BB auto's in Chesterfield for your Exhaust sheid 👍
Brilliant, Richard, thank you. Will get in touch.

Cheers Mark. I reckon I need more practice with a gimbal, but I will need to invest in some new kit for in-car footage.

I remember my dads example having a saggy rear brake light holder so maybe it’s common
Looks like a straightforward fix, although nothing has been straightforward on this car. Except the heated seats. That was easy!
Would love one of these as my first car, maybe a older model to make insurance cheaper
Yeah, can't imagine the insurance would be cheap on a V6.

شكرا على التعليق. أصبح الأمر نادرًا جدًا هنا أيضًا ، ولكن يبدو أن تحديد مصادر الأجزاء هو المشكلة الأكبر.

I actually don't mind the look of the 407 Coupé, but how do you follow the 406 Coupé? Tough ask.
