Dude, I was playing as Durthu against the east wood elf, they captured the Oak of Ages and razed it 😂😂
Outsiders cannot spoil the Oak of Ages if you raze it first. That's just ancient elven wisdom
i my last warhammer total war 2 game i played as bretonnia and on the same turn as i fully united my people the wood elves were being attacked by both the orcs and the undead i offered them a military alliance and to join their war they refused but then the following turn they offered me their vassalage ( i assume due to the fact that i was also at war with the undead ) i was like ok then about 300 turns later i had given them every former elven settlement i could not claim they stayed loyal for the rest of the game even had orions army following me around the map (he kept following my main army )

However, Athel Loren is not the last kingdom of Wood Elves in the world. There still live reclusive communities of Eonir; a nation of elves dwelling in Laurelorn Forest.
Kingdom wise yes the Woodland Realm is in a way the only real kingdom of the wood elves but there are enclaves in the great imperial forest

I think there are small pockets of wood elves around the world? Thought I remember loremaster of sotek saying something about wood elves being able to use world roots to travel to different forests across the planet
I dont know if they are cannon but in game we also have the Bowmen of Oreon neighbouring the Tomb Kings.
Each year they sacrifice one of their best princes. Considering the long lives of elves, each of these princes could have served their people and the forest for centuries.
@Templar Knight Thing is its stupid - Elves life for thousend of years, their princes are all skilled and could serve for hundreads/thousend of years. Instead they waste every year one of those very skilled, very capeable man.
Actually yeah what the heck? The mental and physical fortitude has no impact on the quality and strength of Orion's physical vessel. They literally ritually sacrifice the best and brightest they have on the annual when they could just as easily have a cult with a breeding program... Idiots.

Yet another Warhammer fantasy lore that catch my interest. I am normally more interested in 40k lore. But these videos are put together so cleverly that I am looking forward to the next video.

@@TheBookofChoyer Still my favorite Tree-Being Joke. Originally was 'Do Ents get morning wood?' but LoTR is for people who think grimdark fantasy needs a happy ending. Warhammer for life. I still maintain that Morgoth/ Melkor would get his angsty little butt handed to him by even a weak God of Chaos, because Tolkein was too much of a softy to make a reality where, like in Warhammer Fantasy/ 40k, Evil and Chaos is the inevitable final end result and the only thing Good and Order can do is to delay the inevitable.

I love how the wood elves are the Guerrilla warfare faction of warhammer.
At least on the Order side. One might argue that the Skaven also employ Guerrillia warfare tactics... but more aggressively.
The Wood Elves are my favorite Elf faction for WHFB. Well done!
The Wood Elves are unique with their bong with nature and Athel Loren that the other Elves simply lack. Also, bring intrinsically tied to Athel Loren means that they have an almost custodian-like role in protecting the Weave and really the Warhammer World.
having a bong with nature is something I'd see Ariel do for sure
I really hope that CA is going to rework them to give these guys' lore justice. I mean, they are supposed to be complete isolationists, the occasional wild hunt notwithstanding, but in TWW one and two, the Amber mechanic means that the player is forced to go out and conquer half of the map if they want to get their campaign victory.
The way to fix this is also already present in the game: instead of conquering places and building outposts, they should create secret glades, which would be mechanically similar to pirate coves and undercities. Furthermore, I can imagine these glades either being symbiotic (getting free Amber for the WE, and giving a few free garrison units for the settlement in return) or aggressive (giving better income, but they could be shut down like undercities).
Wood elves got a huge rework last December. MOre focus on restoring the oak of ages and other forests and as isolationists who don’t need to conquer the world.
i don't know why wood elves are so attractive and mysterious faction there is such a mystery about them and that magical forest

The Wood Elves remind me of the old stories with the Fair Folk, the eldritch fairies that lurk in the darkest reaches beyond civilization, who would steal babies from cribs or curse those who break their arcane laws.

Not quite the last kingdom. There's one or two other outposts of Asrai here and there.
Total War pissed me off in that wood elves will attack you if you share borders with them and don't have any relations. Leave them alone and they will declare war on you for no reason and send out armies to attack you. Thus in campaigns like Clan Angrund I am forced to conquer their territory and destroy the faction simply so I can leave my mountain holds nearby without an army to defend against completely random unprovoked attacks
But there are Wood Elves in Laurelorn forest in the Empire and also there are the wood elves of Oreon down south . Athel Loren is not the only place that has wood elves
Warhammer has some of the best fantasy lore of any game, book or movie, imo

Ag 5he one faction I both love and hate the most. A bunch of self righteous pansy ass elves. Along with some of my favorite units, a home base that I love for its sheer danger and risk. And an aesthetic, coupled with a play style suits me just fine. Fill'em with holes and slam home the victory with a sword wielding giant tree boi of purest rage. and purpose.

uh by cons, I'm pretty sure you confuse treekin and treeman: the Treemans are born of the forest, they have always been trees. the Treekins on the other hand are elf souls who have rebuilt a body with the forest in order to fight for it again at the expense of their personalities and memories.

@@PoorManatee6197 well what I mean is that even if the Dwarves do not understand the forest (which by the way already existed before the eternal empire) they could still respect the fact that there are other living creatures that live in the forest, which depend on it and that they could just leave them alone. because let's be honest, if Asrais and Dwarves are enemies, it's their fault.

I remember from vermintide 2 saltzpyre I think mentioned something about elves at daggers drawn? Kerillian said it's family thing? Was there like some civil war between elves or something?
There is no elven spirit at the heart of treemen. They are a separate species of spirit entirely.

Don't think treemen have elven souls, they are separate beings and who have existed even before elves. They might have forest spirits inside them. Look at Durthu, one of the oldest beings in the world.
It sometimes brings me sadness to know they killed this timeline, were the Woodies even involved in the End Times?
Yes the Woodland Realm was the last bastion against Chaos the final place in the entire planet of Warhammer that held out in the End Times 😆🧝♀️🏹🌲🌳🦌

Yes, at the beginning of the final battle they were all fighting in Athel Loren but then they all teleported to the city of Middenheim where Archaon was. The final battle was fought there and Mannfred stabbing Balthasar at the ritual happened there too.

I've never actually read into the lore of Warhammer Fantasy until a few days ago. I did Empire, Bretonnia, Dwarfs, and High Elves before this. I'm use to 40k, and watched the videos on this page thinking "Wow, this is way more black and white than 40K. Defined goodies and baddies." Then I get to this video with the Wood Elves, and think: "Nope, this is more like 40K now."

These should be the intros for the race you pick in Total War: Warhammer 1 & 2. Just to point out a nitpick. What's being narrated sometimes doesn't match the subtitles on screen. Like the narrator is missing out lines like, "The forest is never changing." when the subtitle reads, "The forest is ever changing." Happens often in each video and thought I'd point it out because I just want these to get better and more epic. Like the WoodElves, some trolls will try to exploit any weakness and these videos don't deserve ridicule.

How are there humans dumb enough to enter the forest of Athel Loren uninvited? You'd need an army to get in and out safely, and even an army wouldn't guarantee a successful incursion into the forest. What treasure could possibly be worth venturing into such a hostile environment?
