    The ribbon sounded the best. The condenser was the worst, but I assume you could take down the high frequencies of the condenser microphone, to make to sound less harsh, then you’d actually get the best sound?

    I think you have a very bad room and that´s why the ribbon works better, If you check other sax players comparing same ribbon and other choices you will notice all the lost frequencies on that ribbon. I liked better a cheaper ribbon se 1xr on another review, sounded a lot more alive
