Vu, for some reason I doubt your internal critic beats the crap out of you , and often, as it does with women such as Ann. Some guys have no clue how difficult and challenging it can be to be a woman competing in a man’s world. Privilege is priceless. The least we can do is show respect and support these women trying to make their way into a male dominated field, whatever it may be.

When introducing my grand daughter to throwing it's your videos and freestyles she likes the most. You are more then the sum of a yoyoing career which still is inspiring. Focus on what makes you happy and all the other stuff will fall into place :-)

Hi Ann sorry you had such a bad day. I felt sad as you started your video and then you got out of yourself sharing about your contest and I thought how great it was to see your beautiful smile, that encouraged me to stick with my yo yo playing all this time. I'm not big on online critique I love the fact that online if you find someone disagreeable you just block them and they vanish! Not so face to face when you must deal with people who are difficult and a problem not so easy. In all your videos I've notice positive or negative you encourage us to keep moving on! I love to Watch your videos and miss seeing you smile when you not there! So Thank you! Keep up the great work and Monday will be a new day to start over.

I love your yo yo skills. Watching you perform makes me want to try and get better. Im not a serious yo yo player but I love watching and playing with them. Also try not to come down too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes, it how we correct them is what makes us better.

Ugh. I feel you. I’m in uni right now, just about to end my degree on architecture, and I’m exposed to criticism every freaking day, everyone criticizes your designs and ideas, the ones above and below you, and your teachers also. It’s ok, criticism is part of life, no matter how hard or mean it can be, just grab the constructive part for yourself and smile as the mean parts vanish knowing you can do better. And yes Ann, camo pants are super extra.

You know what maybe it’s because I am 40 but let me tell you it is always easier for people to criticize than to create or compete. So you tried and it failed or was hated but you will learn from it and get better, the only way you fail is if you give up. So just keep trying and like yoyoing you get better with trying.

You always have a particular kind of flow to your routines which I really like. Your body language and performance movements seem to be saying "I'm having a lot of fun doing this" as opposed to "Look how hard this is". I like your performance style a lot.

oh c'mon that's amazing. The people who get the most hair-raising inspiration out of this are maybe people like me who are either new or not good, but I understand if you're trying to consistently and inerrantly wow the pros. Please get a videographer friend if you don't already (I haven't been here long or seen your whole channel) and have them feature you at different angles and slo mos and stuff.

Fun story - I went to do an xray at a drug rehab facility (I'm a mobile xray tech) on an Ann Connolly. Before I got there I thought "OOH! I love Ann Connolly! Oh, crap, I hope it's not Ann Connolly. Things would have gone very badly for her."

As far as not winning in 2014, your freestyle was great. There's absolutely no shame to not winning that year, because that was one of Tessa Piccillo's wins, and her 2014 win was just beyond. Like some minor deity or something came down and made her yoyo so exactly what it was supposed to do.

Feel you.. The people just criticize even though they couldn't do it better, don't take it too personal and try to learn out of your mistakes :) But there will always be people who don't like what you do..
Btw I like kpop too, EXO is my favourite group but I also love so many others like Day6, Pentagon, BTS, Mamamoo, Blackpink and more :D

One good thing regarding the situation where people were telling you their thoughts because they didn't realize you were a part of said team; you got their unadulterated opinion. If they knew who you were, you likely would have received some watered down criticisms, if any at all. At least this way you got a crash course in the truth about most people (especially in corporate environments from my personal experience) out there. While they will often be nice to your face, they likely speak badly about you behind your back. Just watch how people you converse with speak about people who are not present - you can pretty much assume they will turn around and speak that way about you when you are no longer present.
However, don't let it get you down. Especially if marketing is something you're truly passionate about, you'll find the right fit in the right company eventually.
