    Tahlia Vedra, Lioness of the Parch for Cities of Sigmar might be one of the top models of the year. When I got this model from ‪@officialwarhammer‬ I decided to focus on the incredible manticore more as a general monster to show you how easy it is these days to paint these huge fantasy creatures with just a few paints and some tricks and tips. Yes there will be people who will paint this model for Golden Demon, but for you and I who just want to get her on a table to and see what she can do in an army, this is the way to go!
    Hope you enjoy and let me know if the video helps you get over any fears of models you might have hidden away at home until you become a better painter or whatever other lies we tell ourselves!!

    I just got into AOS and warhammer 40k, new to painting and the hobby. In this video you said what I was thinking before I found your channel. It Was for a new/beginner to own 1900 paints mix/ratio out paint and use 1000 paints on one model I was kind of overwhelmed, not buy the money, but by how much paint I needed for one model and how big armies can be. I was thinking that's a crap ton of paint just to get into a hobby.
    Then I found your channel and the way you paint and how you think of beginners and even vets to get there models to the table is amazing! I gave you sub. I want have fun painting and playing 40k/Aos I don't want to spend to much time on the models. You are making it really easy to do just that. Maybe later on as my skill grows and I feel more comfortable with paints and paint brushes and have better control, and understanding of the paint side of things I'll take it to a higher level, but for right now I want "little wins" and to finish my first model and army ready for the tabletop. baby steps, I'm on top of the mountain, but only half way up. Process and timing! So thank you for everything you do! You made a follower for life! I'm so happy to have found your channel. sorry for the long comment : )

    More videos like this please (doesn’t matter what is being painted, can bring each method to whatever model).
    Video length was fine. In depth painting vids for regular painters is always great, it’s why this is a great channel!

    I love how this turned out. I suffer from the "Too scared to try" phobia and videos like these help. I have all my Saurus done except the big lizard so I have to figure out a scheme for that. For the older Saurus model's shields, I wet-blended yellow, orange, and red and then used a gloss varnish on them and they turned out nice so I want to incorporate that into the big lizard. I'm a fan of the slightly more than tabletop standard, I'm not trying to win any competitions but I want them to look good.

      And that’s totally fair it’s what ever level you want to take your models to is what matters. Enjoy the process and be proud of the result.

      Aw man that’s so good to hear, I hope you’ll try any of the models you like the look of now without fear. There’s really nothing to worry about it-except not painting them at all 😄

    Thank you. I've got a Reaper Roc that's been sitting there, and I've not wanted to take on those wings until I had a better idea of what I was doing. Too many other videos were doing multiple colors on each band of feathers, which would have been at least a week just doing the wings. I will do a bit more on the shading, but what you just showed us will get me done in a day or two at the most. BIG Thanks!!!

      @MediocreHobbies  11 месяцев назад +1

      Totally know what you mean! It can be very overwhelming thinking that that is the expected level of painting-its not at all! Best way to improve is always be painting, don’t wait to get better! Glad you liked the video!

    Thank you so much. I tried following another tutorial and struggled with the wings to the point I lost confidence and morale to continue. But now I’ve fallen in love with this simpler yet effective paint job ^^
    Thank you

      Aw that is so good to hear! I hate knowing there’s models out there not getting painted because people don’t feel like they are good enough to try. There’s a million ways to paint and you just have to find the style that suits you. Glad you pushed through and will have a result you’re happy with!

    The biggest thing that holds me back from this wonderful hobby is not only feeling I cant paint them as good as I wish I could (I know I will get better with practice) but making a mistake and choosing the wrong colour and end up hating what I have done then undercoat over it again and try something else and destroying the model and my confidence< happened a few times, I got my first model over a year ago and I have not finished a single one

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  8 месяцев назад

      That’s such a shame. You got to remember that a painted model even to a simple standard looks better then grey plastic. Gotta push through the pain and get it done pal.

    Something I've noticed when painting a number of different projects that I ended up loving is that, quite often, using less colors is a good thing. Having to go and revisit the same area multiple times can really suck the life out of your motivation. Contrast and speed paints help a ton with accomplishing that goal.
    Another excellent video, and it really showcases how effective a small number of coordinated paints can be!

    This is the video I needed. I have built horde armies for 20+ years because I am afraid of “ruining” a centrepiece model.
    For TOW I really want to do an army with some big characters and monsters and this is how I think I will do it. Thank you once again Andy. Got my 30k Word Bearers force done using your techniques and now looking forward to having a fantasy army too.

      Aw that’s so great to hear! You can only ruin a model by leaving it unpainted and hidden away in a box! I promise you if you can paint something smaller, you can paint something bigger. Just give yourself time and patience! And let me know if you have any questions!

    Great video, really educational - especially liked the tip of using the same drybrush over the different colours on the manticore, will definitely be using that! Thanks also for showing more AoS minis, cities ones especially, they look absolutely amazing, especially painted so nicely!

      Only way to get them done is to get started! That first stroke of paint will be the hardest but remember, it’s only paint! You can always fix any mistakes and anything painted is better than something left on a shelf!

    Great job on this one Andy, personally I’ve never been afraid of tackling big models, in fact some of my favourite finished pieces are big centre piece terrain projects that I have invested lots of hours in (probably too much for terrain frankly) and therein is the problem always too much time and that’s one of the things I love about your videos and techniques it definitely helps with speeding the process up, not cutting corners as such but streamlining the process by showing up areas that will naturally be over looked and so therefore don’t need hours of work to blend a knapsack for example. Anyways once again great video and keep up the great work.

    Those monster models you have are amazing! I am both fearful, and lazy, to do my models on the whole. I do have a number of models assembled and painted, but I wish they would look a lot better than they do, though I know I just need to put in the work, and time needed to get them looking the way I envision. I love your channel and appreciate all you do to get your models looking great.❤❤❤❤😊

    I don't know if you have found this to be true... but if I gloss coat whatever I am going to Nuln Oil first it doesn't stain...it just goes to the creases and darkens the metal...the reason I asked is you darken that armor really nicely I was wondering if you perhaps did that first off camera.
