The only game I've ever been good enough at to play the role in is WoW. But it's fun to occasionally Q into trivial (to me) content and help out newer players. I'm sure it was a similar feeling for LMSH.
Truer words were never spoken! All this wannabe's who subjugate themself to no summons of any kind. If one seeks this - they cannot complain. And at the end of the day the solo victory is not even worth more than the group-victory. Just a different playstile. One that is not force upon anybody.
LMSH is such a legend that Namco/Bandai acknowledged him and sent him a personalized sword with a green cloak from the game as well as a scroll with his name printed on it.
I really hope they'll make him a secret NPC in some other IP or even a potential sequel. Or even just a reference to him in texts. Would be so cool to see him become a legend not just in the community but in the games themselves.

Let this be known that, if I'm reading this right, LMSH's pot helmet has no eyeholes. This absolute fucking legend is canonically blind by choice and still decimates the hardest boss in the game flawlessly.
I like to picture his vision like that of Kenshi's from Mortal Kombat. Despite his physical eyes being covered, he can still sense the world around him, including his foes.
I feel like that information isn't enough. It's good and all, but I've found that the real issue people have is doing it successfully when Malenia seems to be able to throw the Waterfowl Dance out whenever she wants. If you're doing literally anything except preparing to run the absolute instant she hops into the air, she will hit you, guaranteed. Thankfully, she actually can't do it whenever she wants. There's a broad pattern to the fight, and I've found that the real way to win consistently is to develop a feeling for when Malenia is most likely to perform the Dance and to keep your distance at those times. This will allow you to actually run away successfully and THEN you can follow the standard dodge procedure. I'm sure there are better posts out there that can explain Malenia's AI behavior better than I can, but it personally felt to me like she had thresholds at approximately 50% and 25% HP in both phases (give or take 10ish%) where she'd begin to slowly walk around the arena. It may look like a perfect opening to capitalize on her non-aggression, but at these moments, the VAST majority of times that I tried to attack her would result in her hopping into the air and starting the Dance, all but guaranteeing my death as I recovered from the attack animation. The solution I found was to immediately put a good 30+ feet between myself and Malenia the moment I noticed her walking suspiciously and wait for her to come to me instead. Inevitably, she will stop walking and do the Dance on her own after a few seconds, but because of the preemptive positioning, it's actually not too overwhelming to react to the attack and perform those dodges. I don't really know how this strategy changes if you start getting hit a lot and she heals above previously-achieved thresholds, but my best advice is to fear the edge-walk whenever it appears and to constantly seek to put a healthy distance between yourself and Malenia whenever you aren't attacking so that you can pay as close attention to her patterns as possible.
Hmm no. The third attack has a delayed effect activation that messes up even that. The only good strategy I’ve seen is either a great shield or just running.
I have been facing Malenia for a week and would allot 3 hrs of my time everyday to try to defeat her. I was able to somewhat know her patterns in the first phase but would always have my ass kicked in her second phase. I finally caved tonight and joined LMSH’s discord server and I just asked if he’s still doing Malenia runs to this day.. 10 mins later he replied and asked if I need help. He almost immediately hopped in the game and helped me out, defeating Malenia in just about 3 mins or less. It was so awesome that even though he is very popular and practically a legend at this point, he is still this helpful person that is willing to help out then and there. It has been a pleasure. Its the second phase of any boss that i hate particularly when the furst phase is already too difficult. I get spastic as fuck on the second phase/choke bc im so excited to even get to that part as well as knowing when i die, it will be hard af to even get to phase two just to practice can suck....
I was watching my friend play at his place, and he found that sigil. We watched as this absolute madlad danced around her attacks like it was ballet, and taunted her. Yet still managed to never be struck. It was the most entertaining thing. This man is beyond legendary. He stands with the war gods of old.
Regardless of how much you did or didn’t enjoy the game, you have to admit that the way it allows it’s players to express themselves, while being entertained, is brilliant.
"Let me solo her" is like a perfect representation of what I feel like fromsoft wanted from its summoning players mechanic. A faceless an voiceless player willing to help you out. But the fact hes able to damn near win every time without getting hit once is just ... absolutely legendary.
If I remember right, Miyazaki did say his inspiration for the summoning system was a time in his life where his car broke down or something and some dude jsut pulled up, fixed it, refused to elaborate, and left
I don’t think people realize what this will cause. In all of Fromsoftware’s games the hardest boss has been in the DLC. What has happened is the gauntlet has been thrown down and Fromsoft will respond. This DLC will have the most soul crushing boss in their history. God have mercy on our souls

She's an optional boss that was seemingly made to be more difficult than any other Soulsbourne boss. If she was a required boss, then the dance would probably be too much. But, since she is fully optional, I'd say it's fine.
@@Ankisuruu I mean, yeah, but you still need to balance between a fun difficult, and making people uninstall the game difficult. Also have to consider that the game has, like, 6 endings or something. A lot of people wouldn't want to have to fight Malenia over and over just for a different ending, since she's taken several players hundreds of tries to beat.
I met him once was in a lobby with friends and attempting malenia and went and found his summon sign. It was incredible how he anihalated her on his own as we watched. We then sent him a friend request and talked to him fpr a bit. He is actually really cool.
He invaded me and my brother once. Dualed us individually. He definitely has skill. My dual knife build came close to taking the win, but he ultimately got me. It wasnt a lacking build since I beat Malenia first time playing the game with the same build at lvl 52. His attack timing was incredible to witness. Our dodge game was fairly even, but his counters most certainly surpassed mine. Def a pleasure to face a legend in a straight up dual, no potions, no spells, no incantations, just a straight up battle. I even stripped my armor for the fight to match his build as much as I could. The fact that this kind of legendary phenomenon happens, is proof that FromSoft did the right thing and Malenia is not a mistake. Imagine not having a community that inspires this heroes!

He actually posted a new video on patch 1.04 Melenia is actually health regenerating on top of that he's fighting a tougher version of her and he beat her again! Truly a legend.
Let Me Solo Her reminds me of the story of Black Iron Tarkus from DS1. A person of legendary status just spending their time helping people murder a specific boss.
Funny story, so I actually had the privilege of summoning “let me solo her” for this exact fight except when I summoned her and another person I thought she was trolling because of the no armor and pot on her head. Because of this I kept spamming comet azure while malanie was distracted. The boss on both phases died so easy that I never thought of this fight to be a tough fight. Now that I’ve stumbled on this video and I’ve discovered “let me solo her” is a malanie legend I have a whole new appreciation for having the ability to be led through with relative ease. If you’re reading this, I appreciate it “let me solo her” and I apologize for not letting you solo her lol.
No. The "Puppet of the Legend" spirit is a Mod. There is a spirit called the Jarwright Puppet that can be bought from Seluvis that looks just like Let Me Solo Her, but it's not him. It doesn't have katanas and just throws pots for its attacks.
Honestly kinda hope they add him to the lore with them literally sending him a sword, its stories like this that i love hearing about because its what makes gaming special.

Fun fact in lore during the second stage of her fight she actually turns from a demigod into a actual goddess from her spell aoina flower it says when she blooms 3 times she turns to a goddess once against radium when outside her arena and one when you fight her and that’s why her name in the second stage is Malania goddess of rot
I wouldn't count the bloomed flower to the left alcove before her arena as her blooming, since it has a lootable armor set of malenia's daughters ; so its more likelly just a blooming of one of Millicent's sisters. I wonder if her true ascention to godhood would rather be the blooming you see in the arena after you actually defeat her, that one blooming you can get the golden needle of miquella from.
@@armandarthur3154 didn’t know there was an armor set but if it’s the bloom after she dead is when she ascends to true godhood that could be but in the second stage she truly masters the rot in combat probably due to her being in contact of an outer god. So in the end it’s all up to the lore of the game and what we decide
I've fought her. She is insanely difficult. As impossibly difficult as both her and the Waterfowl Dance are, I would say it's a fair challenge because she's optional. She's the final optional boss past the end of the game. She is THE challenge.
@@chicken29843 Overtuned? I think the player is overtuned. It’s pretty easy to beat any boss with a spirit summon. I honestly think Elden Ring is quite possibly one of the easier souls game just because of spirit summons. Mimic Tear is especially helpful against her with the right build.
The fact that someone was indeed able to solo her without using cheesy strats and just being a god tier gamer solidifies the fact that Melania is not an unfair boss. Just the hardest boss in any souls game.
she still is an unfair boss, besides the game having a very bad problem with bosses and normal enemies reading your moves and reacting before them which has been shown to be true. and is a problem that ruins solo runs. it is the fact that a devil may care boss entered dark souls, that sekiro was introduced without it's mechanics. the laws that have been established an taught over the last 80 hours have no gone. for no reason other than the devs pretty much trolling. it is not good game design, should of been a secret, or clearly a joke fight.

I personally, say if it's an optional boss, it can be as unfair as the makes want. Put an impossible boss in, just to mess with players, if you want, and see if anyone can rise up. XP
@@etherknightmare1181 As a complete trash with subpar hand-eye coordination, I agree. At some point in the game I was getting properly wrecked by both Malenia and the Fire Giant, the only thing I could do was to keep levelling up. But it's fine, I discovered secrets I had missed and such things.
This fight is impossible on keyboard and mouse. You just can’t do it on it due to lack of 360 movement from the snail of sticks. I got pretty close after nearly a day of trying but her attacks just doesn’t let you dodge with WASD
I considered calling on "Let Me Solo Her" but I chose not to. In my mind, I thought: "if I can't face this boss alone then it will not feel like I have earned this victory. So I chose to walk his path of trying over and over again until finally, I beat Malenia alone and it was a victory well earned.

It's so interesting how different bosses are to people. I found Malenia so much easier than the GOW Valkyrie queen and even had a worse time on the Astel boss on Ranni's quest.
The only part of Malenia's boss fight that I feel is unfair is how she recovers health when you shield her attacks. That being said, I still beat her, but not without hours of struggle.

@@dhugh4rt486 I did. I've literally solo'd malenia and Radagon/Elden Beast for players. Stop glamorizing a baseline staple in souls games, memorizing boss movesets in order to beat them. If you have rhythm and a strategy, anybody can do it. This dudes only respectable factor is the fact he dedicated his entire life to doing this for like 4 months straight.
I was able to slay Malenia with help of my mimic in the second try, but trying in multiplayer is a different story. We spent all the night with my friend trying to beat Malenia in his game. We achieved this after about six hours... It's a really difficult boss, like the old times.
Didn't play multiplayer, I also defeted her with the mimic summon and the sword you can get after defeating malekith, but why do you say trying to beat her in multiplayer is different?
@@alexwolf2870 cuz with mimic you are basically using 2 people to kill her while she still has the same HP, but if you do it with 2 actual players then her HP will also be more.
I remember beating Radhan at a very low level, on my own, after almost 100 attempts. It got to a point where i knew exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. This man must've done something similar: he relied on his skill and his skill only, until each and every one of Malenia's attacks became useless and predictable.
I had the privilege of summoning this absolute legend, or maybe somebody inspired by him, last night on Mohg, Lord of Blood. He was a naked, jar-headed, dual katana wielding tarnished named "Let Me Solo Him" and I let him do just that, using no weapon arts, with apparently no problem.

He's a true gamer, helping Tarnished rise when they have fallen rather than telling them to get good. Fromsoft should cement him in history by adding a statue of him somewhere in the world or making a summons of him in the DLC
Telling someone to git gud is the least helpful thing possible to say. they already know they should git gudder. advice on HOW to git gud would be far more helpful.
I think that FromSoft has to make a legendary move here. They need to add "let me solo her" as an npc with their own questline and lore. And when you finish their questline you can use them as a summon.

Someone needs to make a 'Let me solo ---' kinda character for every entry FromSoft has made. If people are going back from Elden Ring to play some of the best games ever made, it'd be kinda cool to have a dedicated 'character' to help newcomers that can't quite get the hang of one boss or another.
I hope from soft would make little Easter eggs of the legendary pot head in the form of a figurine of him. or or, in the elden ring dlc I wish they could possibly add a worn out pot with a description that say, "worn our and torn, was left after countless battles against great foes"
I get what you mean but if an optional boss is broken it doesn't mean its fair. Though she ain't broken as a lot of people believe, the only thing they need to fix is how she heals when attacking a shield with 100% physical
So just because she's optional, her being completely unbalanced is completely fair? Her massive healing mechanic ontop of the incredibly hard to dodge move feels like a massive slap in the face. If she wasn't optional she wouldn't have anyone saying she's fair.
Pro tip: bloodhound's step makes dodging the waterfowl dance less stressful, and can also help against her spirit attack and rot flower attack in phase 2.
Ngl, I watched this alreadya couple of months ago and it is still gives me shivers. I really hope someday Fromsoft will give an easter egg or a lore and npc in honor of LetMeSoloHer. He did gave a hope and morale to players that even the hardest boss in the game is doable as soon as you get gud of it. The Grace blessed this tarnished.
Any future DLC must now include Miquella's awakening with rage on a certain tarnished who slayed his own sister. Taken as prisoner, *Let Me Solo Her* as an NPC in chains there in the final boss room, where our job "regardless of platform" is to return the favor, slay that demi-god for good and free our hero. Fromsoft must also take him as VA for his character, too.
Even better after beating her second phase and we free LMSH she gets up again ready to fight and LMSH just grabs his weapons says without looking back let me solo her the one shots her in a cutscene and that’s all he says no other line even when you come to save him he stays silent only bothering to say the one thing he trained for “Let Me Solo Her”
@@ivanivan744 I suppose that’s true, maybe Miquella should be the only boss where teamwork is actually required. Perhaps you’re able to transfer the debuff to a fellow tarnished, either LMSH or another summon, or if a fellow player tarnished has Miquella’s Needle they can use that to purify you and you will no longer be effected by the debuff. TLDR: Let’s beat Miquella with the power of friendship.
Full respect for this person. When I fought Malenia (and any from soft boss actually) I always challenge my self not to cheese, or summon anyone (nor ashes). I took it as a challenge to do it solo with my gargoyle great sword faith build which I enjoy the most. After maybe 50 tries (not exaggerating) I finally got her. I honestly enjoyed fighting her as it really taught me to be patient, and memorize her moves. This is why I love from soft games; they challenge you, and when you succeed, the feeling it self is just awesome! I highly recommend everyone fight her with a build that they love, and try to solo her. Trust me, the feeling is just great. I always tell my self (Git Gud) and I believe anyone that is patient enough can defeat her. Good luck, and enjoy!!
I haven't played Elden Ring yet, but I also experienced this feeling of accomplishment with the Orphan of Kos (Bloodborne). I LOVE Souls games, but I'm well aware of my abilities. I'm a scrub. If I am having a hard time, I'll summon. Unfortunately for me, there's nobody I can summon in Orphan's boss fight. This forced me to GIT GUD and go beyond what I can normally do. Orphan's second phase had so much bull, I found it necessary to play the first phase in absolute perfection with no hits and 20+ consecutive perfect parries. It was adrenaline with every fight, then dying, and then coming back for another. Eventually, I did it, and I screamed in joy of finally having to defeat a major obstacle. I should play Elden Ring soon. Hopefully, PS4's coop still lives a year later.

@@jine7123 if I remember, you always play defensive, meaning do one strike when she’s open then keep your distance. When she leaps into the air, you run backwards, once she does her first twirl you dodge away from her, then second twirl you also dodge away. Finally, third twirl you dodge through her. There is a video on YT that also mentions this (check it out) 😊
Just watched LMSH solo'ing unalloyed Malenia; never having heard of him until I saw Carbot's latest ER video. I scrapped through regular Malenia but LMSH vs unalloyed Malenia is something else. Epic.

5:54 I believe it is a fair move because she was supposed to be an undefeated champion and never loss a battle. So I believe it fits in with here characters and is fair.
Yep, if they made her weaker, they would be breaking the lore. She is supposed to be a gate that only the mightiest can breach, and you have to change your path from the main quest if you even want to fight her if I heard that right, so you could do an entire playthrough without even fighting her.

I literally saw his summoning sign yesterday in front of Malenias arena. Sadly he was summoned by someone other but in the end I still won. But I'd love to see how he's putting Malenia in her place with my own eyes. I'd even pay him. Some heros don't wear capes, some wear a pot on their head. True legend whoever this person is. Totally fair, and beyond satisfying and gratifying once I took her down… 20 tries to get the timing down (and I use a spell sword, no shield bloodborne style). And my recommendation is to go freeze, in general. Skip the blood build.
Spell sword here too. No shield, probably took around 20-25 tries for me too. I also believe she is a completely fair fight. I haven’t played the other souls games, but if she’s the hardest souls has to offer, I’m not too concerned about going back and playing the others
@@Missionmoench2 i realy dont think she is the hardest she is about as dificult as the other super hard bosses in the other games. It comes down to personal experiance wether or not she is the hardest.
@@Missionmoench2 It's a different kind of difficulty. I'll eventually get any one-on-one fights down with a standard sword n roll build, but I struggle not to use spells or some kinda ranged or bait punishable attacks when there's multiple enemies. Other people are fine with them but struggle with fast single targets. The beauty of the Souls series is that you'll find things you're good at _and_ things you'll struggle with in every game.
I struggled to consistently get through her first phase until I used the cross naginata and pike with frost. Beat her in less than 15 tries after that strat adjustment.
I love malenia and all her move sets. I mostly roll exclusively in souls games, but malenia forced me to use a shield at key points in the fight. It goes to show that no matter how skilled you are you can find other suitable methods to beat the boss you once thought was impossible.
The only real issue with Milenia is the Water Foul in first phase. If they watered it down a bit but kept second phase as it is, then I think that would actually make second phase MUCH more memorable and deadly than first phase
Her healing is what tilts me. I'm perfectly fine with how she is but I've died so many times because she can heal quickly. That said it was fun summoning mimic tear and just Lion Claw spamming her to death. X'D
I had already known the story of "Let me solo her" but this storytelling and video to match just immortalizes Klein even more. Love this and I hope to be able to tell stories in gaming like this soon.
Tip for waterfowl dance: If you time it right, you can throw a Freezing Pot at her and she will be stunned out of that attack or before it even happens. Makes her difficulty almost irrelevant if you can deal with everything else.
This is how I feel when I play Monster Hunter and I go back and help new players grind and level up. Its such a thrill seeing people excited to finally have an edge against a hard boss with someone on their side willing to shoulder the heavy load.
The funny thing is I think I got pretty far in the game will there’s just so many monsters and each time I hunt it takes 30m or 1h 20m just to kill it and if you die half way you have to start all over i tried all weapons the one I found that can always work is the short sword with small shield allows me to use heals with ease but loved the game it would take me months to even try to finish it by my self because I did not have the Xbox pass now I play PlayStation and got the pass will have to buy it again and start all over but it’s worth it but I have to be prepared
So… my friend told me the bloodhound fang was alright but I could do so much more damage with moonveil and the meteoric ore blade. I fought malenia a total of I believe 9-10 times before deciding I wanted to attempt using bloodhound fang again as it my OG weapon and that I had nothing to lose. I fought her 2 times after that. Once with the it being +6, and once more with +10. I didn’t even need a summon or anything to beat her when I use the +10. It was so easy that I was questioning wether I was using the dual wield on the other 2 weapons wrong. Moral of the story, LetMeSoloHer is a god.
The thing about dodging Water Fowl is that it’s about positioning as much as it’s about timing, and your goal is to use her forward momentum against her. You need to dodge through it at the right moment so she loses steam spinning around. That’s how you dodge it with no damage. It’s not as hard as it seems once you practice for a bit.
It's crazy that Malenia was already nerfed before the game even came out, and still players are getting destroyed by her. She had another attack similar to the now known "Waterfoul dance" that was probably meant as the real Dance because she was hopping on one leg while creating a flurry of strikes. And she did those two much more frequent than she does now. Another RUclipsr has made a more indepth Video about it, I recommend it it was really interesting, I believe it was from "zullie the witch"
That attack had clear pauses between every hit, much like the dancer of boreal walley, so i disagree. It wasn't harder, it was just annoying she could chain new waterfawl into the old waterfawl.

Oh I beat every single boss. Upgraded my weapons to max…and still struggled so hard to beat Malenia. Best ash against her is Quickstep. Quickstep is amazing in avoiding her killing combos and putting some distance to heal and recover.
Took me probably 20 or 30 attempts. I got close a few times but finally beat her when RNG blessed me and she didn't use her flurry attack in either phase
@J.C. Denton sure, I switched to a katana that inflicted bleed, I forget which one. During the fight I applied the freezing grease so it applied the freeze status. She's really susceptible to freeze and it really increases the damage. Hope that helps, good luck!!
As a brand new FromSoft player the toughest boss for me in my first playthrough was Margit. I was stuck on him for about three actual days of trying a few times, then giving up to go off and explore more. Once I finally beat Margit, my perception of the game changed to "I'll never be able to do this." to "Maybe I can do this." By the time I actually found Malenia (200+ hours into playing), I knew I would eventually figure out how to beat her. I wasnt aware that Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear is considered a "cheese" as it was the weapon I was using all the time anyways. She did still kill me quite a few times, but it was no where near being stuck like I was on Margit. Even though in comparison to Malenia he might as well be a normal enemy you encounter when exploring. If you ask me now what the hardest enemy in the game is, I would say "Crucible Knights" simply because I suck at timing jumps and parries.

LMSH is such a legend that Namco/Bandai acknowledged him and sent him a personalized sword with a green cloak from the game as well as a scroll with his name printed on it.
They sent him a sword that said "rise, tarnished", a map, art of himself on it. Fan art of his character, a wooden carving 1 of only 40 of male Nia.
the sword was not personalized, it was the exact same sword the press kit came with.
And this was AFTER he killed Malenia 1,000 times
I really hope they'll make him a secret NPC in some other IP or even a potential sequel. Or even just a reference to him in texts. Would be so cool to see him become a legend not just in the community but in the games themselves.

A tip I got from a Soulsbourne veteran: Run away from the first Two, dodge into the Third.
That said she is still very difficult.
A good tip, just make sure you have the spacing to do so. If you're too close, those first two flurrys will chase you down and kill you.
I feel like that information isn't enough. It's good and all, but I've found that the real issue people have is doing it successfully when Malenia seems to be able to throw the Waterfowl Dance out whenever she wants. If you're doing literally anything except preparing to run the absolute instant she hops into the air, she will hit you, guaranteed. Thankfully, she actually can't do it whenever she wants. There's a broad pattern to the fight, and I've found that the real way to win consistently is to develop a feeling for when Malenia is most likely to perform the Dance and to keep your distance at those times. This will allow you to actually run away successfully and THEN you can follow the standard dodge procedure.
I'm sure there are better posts out there that can explain Malenia's AI behavior better than I can, but it personally felt to me like she had thresholds at approximately 50% and 25% HP in both phases (give or take 10ish%) where she'd begin to slowly walk around the arena. It may look like a perfect opening to capitalize on her non-aggression, but at these moments, the VAST majority of times that I tried to attack her would result in her hopping into the air and starting the Dance, all but guaranteeing my death as I recovered from the attack animation. The solution I found was to immediately put a good 30+ feet between myself and Malenia the moment I noticed her walking suspiciously and wait for her to come to me instead. Inevitably, she will stop walking and do the Dance on her own after a few seconds, but because of the preemptive positioning, it's actually not too overwhelming to react to the attack and perform those dodges. I don't really know how this strategy changes if you start getting hit a lot and she heals above previously-achieved thresholds, but my best advice is to fear the edge-walk whenever it appears and to constantly seek to put a healthy distance between yourself and Malenia whenever you aren't attacking so that you can pay as close attention to her patterns as possible.

If you're very cautious with your openings, you will have enough time to throw an ice pot at her which will knock her out of it
Hmm no. The third attack has a delayed effect activation that messes up even that. The only good strategy I’ve seen is either a great shield or just running.

I have been facing Malenia for a week and would allot 3 hrs of my time everyday to try to defeat her. I was able to somewhat know her patterns in the first phase but would always have my ass kicked in her second phase. I finally caved tonight and joined LMSH’s discord server and I just asked if he’s still doing Malenia runs to this day.. 10 mins later he replied and asked if I need help. He almost immediately hopped in the game and helped me out, defeating Malenia in just about 3 mins or less. It was so awesome that even though he is very popular and practically a legend at this point, he is still this helpful person that is willing to help out then and there. It has been a pleasure. Thank you!

I was watching my friend play at his place, and he found that sigil. We watched as this absolute madlad danced around her attacks like it was ballet, and taunted her. I've never played this game, but yt has me on a deep dive into developments of game communities towards common goals, helping each other, and record breaking. it brings me so much joy that communities can come together and help each other, instead of tearing each other down.
She's an optional boss that was seemingly made to be more difficult than any other Soulsbourne boss. If she was a required boss, then the dance would probably be too much. But, since she is fully optional, I'd say it's fine.
Or people could actually learn what gaming was all about back in the day. Beating something hard and feeling the sense of accomplishment.
@@Ankisuruu I mean, yeah, but you still need to balance between a fun difficult, and making people uninstall the game difficult. Also have to consider that the game has, like, 6 endings or something. A lot of people wouldn't want to have to fight Malenia over and over just for a different ending, since she's taken several players hundreds of tries to beat.

He invaded me and my brother once. Dualed us individually. He definitely has skill. My dual knife build came close to taking the win, but he ultimately got me. It wasnt a lacking build since I beat Malenia first time playing the game with the same build at lvl 52. His attack timing was incredible to witness. Our dodge game was fairly even, but his counters most certainly surpassed mine. Def a pleasure to face a legend in a straight up dual, no potions, no spells, no incantations, just a straight up battle. I even stripped my armor for the fight to match his build as much as I could. Dual Katanas vs Dual Knives. Top Tier Fight

so I actually had the privilege of summoning “let me solo her” for this exact fight except when I summoned her and another person I thought she was trolling because of the no armor and pot on her head. Because of this I kept spamming comet azure while malanie was distracted. The boss on both phases died so easy that I never thought of this fight to be a tough fight. Now that I’ve stumbled on this video and I’ve discovered “let me solo her” is a malanie legend I have a whole new appreciation for having the ability to be led through with relative ease. If you’re reading this, I appreciate it “let me solo her” and I apologize for not letting you solo her lol.

No. The "Puppet of the Legend" spirit is a Mod. There is a spirit called the Jarwright Puppet that can be bought from Seluvis that looks just like Let Me Solo Her, but it's not him. It doesn't have katanas and just throws pots for its attacks.

I wouldn't count the bloomed flower to the left alcove before her arena as her blooming, since it has a lootable armor set of malenia's daughters ; so its more likelly just a blooming of one of Millicent's sisters. I wonder if her true ascention to godhood would rather be the blooming you see in the arena after you actually defeat her, that one blooming you can get the golden needle of miquella from.
@@armandarthur3154 didn’t know there was an armor set but if it’s the bloom after she dead is when she ascends to true godhood that could be but in the second stage she truly masters the rot in combat probably due to her being in contact of an outer god. @@chicken29843 Overtuned? I think the player is overtuned. It’s pretty easy to beat any boss with a spirit summon. I honestly think Elden Ring is quite possibly one of the easier souls game just because of spirit summons. Mimic Tear is especially helpful against her with the right build.

The fact that someone was indeed able to solo her without using cheesy strats and just being a god tier gamer solidifies the fact that Melania is not an unfair boss. Just the hardest boss in any souls game.
People are so traumatized by Waterfowl that they just focus on that, and not on it being a very fun boss otherwise.
Its definitely not impossible, but I do think waterfowl is a very unintuitively designed attack that does make the fight worse

she still is an unfair boss, besides the game having a very bad problem with bosses and normal enemies reading your moves and reacting before them which has been shown to be true. and is a problem that ruins solo runs. it is the fact that a devil may care boss entered dark souls, that sekiro was introduced without it's mechanics. the laws that have been established an taught over the last 80 hours have no gone. for no reason other than the devs pretty much trolling.

@@etherknightmare1181 As a complete trash with subpar hand-eye coordination, I agree. At some point in the game I was getting properly wrecked by both Malenia and the Fire Giant, the only thing I could do was to keep levelling up. But it's fine, I discovered secrets I had missed and such things.

This fight is impossible on keyboard and mouse. You just can’t do it on it due to lack of 360 movement from the snail of sticks. I got pretty close after nearly a day of trying but her attacks just doesn’t let you dodge with WASD

I considered calling on "Let Me Solo Her" but I chose not to. In my mind, I thought: "if I can't face this boss alone then it will not feel like I have earned this victory. So I chose to walk his path of trying over and over again until finally, I beat Malenia alone and it was a victory well earned.

It's so interesting how different bosses are to people. I found Malenia so much easier than the GOW Valkyrie queen and even had a worse time on the Astel boss on Ranni's quest.
The only part of Malenia's boss fight that I feel is unfair is how she recovers health when you shield her attacks. That being said, I still beat her, but not without hours of struggle.

@@dhugh4rt486 I did. I've literally solo'd malenia and Radagon/Elden Beast for players. Stop glamorizing a baseline staple in souls games, memorizing boss movesets in order to beat them. If you have rhythm and a strategy, anybody can do it. This dudes only respectable factor is the fact he dedicated his entire life to doing this for like 4 months straight.
I was able to slay Malenia with help of my mimic in the second try, but trying in multiplayer is a different story. We spent all the night with my friend trying to beat Malenia in his game. We achieved this after about six hours... It's a really difficult boss, like the old times.

@@alexwolf2870 cuz with mimic you are basically using 2 people to kill her while she still has the same HP, but if you do it with 2 actual players then her HP will also be more.

I remember beating Radhan at a very low level, on my own, after almost 100 attempts. It got to a point where i knew exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. This man must've done something similar: he relied on his skill and his skill only, until each and every one of Malenia's attacks became useless and predictable.

I had the privilege of summoning this absolute legend, or maybe somebody inspired by him, last night on Mohg, Lord of Blood. He was a naked, jar-headed, dual katana wielding tarnished named "Let Me Solo Him" and I let him do just that, using no weapon arts, with apparently no problem.
I had a similar guy at radagon but he was a fraud lol he wore armor and had a spear and great shield named "let me solo it"

I think that FromSoft has to make a legendary move here. They need to add "let me solo her" as an npc with their own questline and lore. And when you finish their questline you can use them as a summon.

Someone needs to make a 'Let me solo ---' kinda character for every entry FromSoft has made. If people are going back from Elden Ring to play some of the best games ever made, it'd be kinda cool to have a dedicated 'character' to help newcomers that can't quite get the hang of one boss or another.

Pro tip: bloodhound's step makes dodging the waterfowl dance less stressful, and can also help against her spirit attack and rot flower attack in phase 2.

Ngl, I watched this alreadya couple of months ago and it is still gives me shivers. I really hope someday Fromsoft will give an easter egg or a lore and npc in honor of LetMeSoloHer. He did gave a hope and morale to players that even the hardest boss in the game is doable as soon as you get gud of it. The Grace blessed this tarnished.
They sent him something this week but it got stuck in french customs and wouldn't come through!

He received a custom sword in the mail from Fromsoft as a reward. According to a Google news alert I got last week, anyway.
Any future DLC must now include Miquella's awakening with rage on a certain tarnished who slayed his own sister.
Taken as prisoner, *Let Me Solo Her* as an NPC in chains there in the final boss room, where our job "regardless of platform" is to return the favor, slay that demi-god for good and free our hero.
Fromsoft must also take him as VA for his character, too.
Even better after beating her second phase and we free LMSH she gets up again ready to fight and LMSH just grabs his weapons says without looking back let me solo her the one shots her in a cutscene and that’s all he says no other line even when you come to save him he stays silent only bothering to say the one thing he trained for “Let Me Solo Her”
I think it would only be fair to give Miquella one-shot only skills, so that you have to fight flawlessly just like LMSH.
@@RedAngelXV Nah. Miquella should have some wounds and injuries that make them slow in combat. It means that LMSH didn't get captured without a fight
@@ivanivan744 I suppose that’s true, maybe Miquella should be the only boss where teamwork is actually required. Perhaps you’re able to transfer the debuff to a fellow tarnished, either LMSH or another summon, or if a fellow player tarnished has Miquella’s Needle they can use that to purify you and you will no longer be effected by the debuff.

Full respect for this person. When I fought Malenia (and any from soft boss actually) I always challenge my self not to cheese, or summon anyone (nor ashes). I took it as a challenge to do it solo with my gargoyle great sword faith build which I enjoy the most. After maybe 50 tries (not exaggerating) I finally got her. I honestly enjoyed fighting her as it really taught me to be patient, and memorize her moves. This is why I love from soft games; they challenge you, and when you succeed, the feeling it self is just awesome! I highly recommend everyone fight her with a build that they love, and try to solo her. Trust me, the feeling is just great. I always tell my self (Git Gud) and I believe anyone that is patient enough can defeat her. Good luck, and enjoy!!
I haven't played Elden Ring yet, but I also experienced this feeling of accomplishment with the Orphan of Kos (Bloodborne). I LOVE Souls games, but I'm well aware of my abilities. I'm a scrub. If I am having a hard time, I'll summon. Unfortunately for me, there's nobody I can summon in Orphan's boss fight. This forced me to GIT GUD and go beyond what I can normally do. Orphan's second phase had so much bull, I found it necessary to play the first phase in absolute perfection with no hits and 20+ consecutive perfect parries. It was adrenaline with every fight, then dying, and then coming back for another.
Eventually, I did it, and I screamed in joy of finally having to defeat a major obstacle.
I should play Elden Ring soon. Hopefully, PS4's coop still lives a year later.

@@jine7123 if I remember, you always play defensive, meaning do one strike when she’s open then keep your distance. When she leaps into the air, you run backwards, once she does her first twirl you dodge away from her, then second twirl you also dodge away. Finally, third twirl you dodge through her. There is a video on YT that also mentions this (check it out) 😊

5:54 I believe it is a fair move because she was supposed to be an undefeated champion and never loss a battle. So I believe it fits in with here characters and is fair.
Yep, if they made her weaker, they would be breaking the lore. She is supposed to be a gate that only the mightiest can breach, and you have to change your path from the main quest if you even want to fight her if I heard that right, so you could do an entire playthrough without even fighting her.

I literally saw his summoning sign yesterday in front of Malenias arena. Sadly he was summoned by someone other but in the end I still won. But I'd love to see how he's putting Malenia in her place with my own eyes. I'd even pay him. Some heros don't wear capes, some wear a pot on their head. True legend whoever this person is. I used to think that Malenia was way too strong, unfair, and broken. Then...a legend arose, and changed everything I thought about her.
Totally fair, and beyond satisfying and gratifying once I took her down… 20 tries to get the timing down (and I use a spell sword, no shield bloodborne style). And my recommendation is to go freeze, in general. Skip the blood build.
Spell sword here too. No shield, probably took around 20-25 tries for me too. I also believe she is a completely fair fight. I haven’t played the other souls games, but if she’s the hardest souls has to offer, I’m not too concerned about going back and playing the others
@@Missionmoench2 i realy dont think she is the hardest she is about as dificult as the other super hard bosses in the other games. It comes down to personal experiance wether or not she is the hardest.

@@Missionmoench2 It's a different kind of difficulty. I'll eventually get any one-on-one fights down with a standard sword n roll build, but I struggle not to use spells or some kinda ranged or bait punishable attacks when there's multiple enemies. Other people are fine with them but struggle with fast single targets. The beauty of the Souls series is that you'll find things you're good at _and_ things you'll struggle with in every game.
I struggled to consistently get through her first phase until I used the cross naginata and pike with frost. Beat her in less than 15 tries after that strat adjustment.
I love malenia and all her move sets. I mostly roll exclusively in souls games, but malenia forced me to use a shield at key points in the fight. It goes to show that no matter how skilled you are you can find other suitable methods to beat the boss you once thought was impossible.
The only real issue with Milenia is the Water Foul in first phase. If they watered it down a bit but kept second phase as it is, then I think that would actually make second phase MUCH more memorable and deadly than first phase

Her healing is what tilts me. I'm perfectly fine with how she is but I've died so many times because she can heal quickly. That said it was fun summoning mimic tear and just Lion Claw spamming her to death. X'D
I had already known the story of "Let me solo her" but this storytelling and video to match just immortalizes Klein even more. Love this and I hope to be able to tell stories in gaming like this soon.
Tip for waterfowl dance:
If you time it right, you can throw a Freezing Pot at her and she will be stunned out of that attack or before it even happens. Makes her difficulty almost irrelevant if you can deal with everything else.

This is how I feel when I play Monster Hunter and I go back and help new players grind and level up. Its such a thrill seeing people excited to finally have an edge against a hard boss with someone on their side willing to shoulder the heavy load.
I for real did not even finish the game I had to play sole and I was scared has fk when a new monster I have to hunt by my self lol

The funny thing is I think I got pretty far in the game will there’s just so many monsters and each time I hunt it takes 30m or 1h 20m just to kill it and if you die half way you have to start all over i tried all weapons the one I found that can always work is the short sword with small shield allows me to use heals with ease but loved the game it would take me months to even try to finish it by my self because I did not have the Xbox pass now I play PlayStation and got the pass will have to buy it again and start all over but it’s worth it but I have to be prepared

So… my friend told me the bloodhound fang was alright but I could do so much more damage with moonveil and the meteoric ore blade. I fought malenia a total of I believe 9-10 times before deciding I wanted to attempt using bloodhound fang again as it my OG weapon and that I had nothing to lose. I fought her 2 times after that. Once with the it being +6, and once more with +10. I didn’t even need a summon or anything to beat her when I use the +10. It was so easy that I was questioning wether I was using the dual wield on the other 2 weapons wrong. Moral of the story, LetMeSoloHer is a god.
The thing about dodging Water Fowl is that it’s about positioning as much as it’s about timing, and your goal is to use her forward momentum against her. You need to dodge through it at the right moment so she loses steam spinning around. That’s how you dodge it with no damage. It’s not as hard as it seems once you practice for a bit.

It's crazy that Malenia was already nerfed before the game even came out, and still players are getting destroyed by her. She had another attack similar to the now known "Waterfoul dance" that was probably meant as the real Dance because she was hopping on one leg while creating a flurry of strikes. And she did those two much more frequent than she does now. Another RUclipsr has made a more indepth Video about it, I recommend it it was really interesting, I believe it was from "zullie the witch"

That attack had clear pauses between every hit, much like the dancer of boreal walley, so i disagree. It wasn't harder, it was just annoying she could chain new waterfawl into the old waterfawl.

Oh I beat every single boss. Upgraded my weapons to max…and still struggled so hard to beat Malenia. Best ash against her is Quickstep. Quickstep is amazing in avoiding her killing combos and putting some distance to heal and recover.

Took me probably 20 or 30 attempts. I got close a few times but finally beat her when RNG blessed me and she didn't use her flurry attack in either phase
That one has only gotten me once. It's the dive after her second form. That move is pure evil lol
@J.C. Denton applying frost damage to a bleed weapon did it for me. Had to get away from my strength build, just too slow
@J.C. Denton sure, I switched to a katana that inflicted bleed, I forget which one. During the fight I applied the freezing grease so it applied the freeze status. She's really susceptible to freeze and it really increases the damage. Hope that helps, good luck!!

The flurry is not RNG.
As a brand new FromSoft player the toughest boss for me in my first playthrough was Margit.
I was stuck on him for about three actual days of trying a few times, then giving up to go off and explore more.
Once I finally beat Margit, my perception of the game changed to "I'll never be able to do this." to "Maybe I can do this."
By the time I actually found Malenia (200+ hours into playing), I knew I would eventually figure out how to beat her. I wasnt aware that Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear is considered a "cheese" as it was the weapon I was using all the time anyways.
She did still kill me quite a few times, but it was no where near being stuck like I was on Margit. Even though in comparison to Malenia he might as well be a normal enemy you encounter when exploring.
If you ask me now what the hardest enemy in the game is, I would say "Crucible Knights" simply because I suck at timing jumps and parries.
