Very interested in Epson's new line. I currently own 5040UB. It still does a great job, especially considering what I paid for it (around $1000 refurb). There are some really in depth threads on avsforum about how to calibrate it, so I think it's dialed in pretty well. Nobody has ever come over to watch a movie and said "I wish the blacks were darker". They just enjoy the movie.
So, I'm trying to put some salve on the upgrade itch. At least for now. Thanks for the review Shane.

    This is so interesting!
I have followed Epsons laser projector pretty close recently since laser light source is very appealing and interesting and especially since it's coming down in price level. Has really been waiting for a video review about this, thanks!
But I am in no rush to switch to another projector since I bought TW9400 very recently but I guess when my time comes laser projector might have come one or maybe two steps further and maybe also have come down in price slightly too. I really like TW9400 projector and development and evolution is great but I could live with and be very happy if they just made a TW9400 but with laser light source. That would be totally fine with me ;) But since laser light source has so many hours on the "lamp" and the degrading is far less or even non-existent you might be able to buy a projector in the upper tier because you can plan on having it for many many years.

Thank you for a very honest review of this Epson projector, my wife and I are currently in the process of upgrading our home theater and will be moving from the Epson 8100 to this projector - we were very disappointed that it did not have 3D abilities, however, we decided to proceed with the purchase because of it being a laser light projector and we should never have to worry about changing bulbs, we found that our 8100 would not even give us 900 hours per bulb in an air conditioned environment. This upgrade will fit into our budget as we just can’t justify spending twice as much for a difference that is only slightly better.

The best thing about this epson projector that separates it from the tragically crappy single-DLP majority, is it is 3-LCD, which means it's guaranteed free of any rainbow effect artifact (RBE). Plenty of shillers in and out of youtube relentlessly push single-DLP crap. Maybe they indeed don't see RBE, and so they can't talk about something they can't see. But just because they can't see RBE doesn't also mean no-one else sees it. RBE is real and as perennial as the grass. Single-DLP necessarily has to use sequential color, which is a 1920's era technology that's best left where found. Epson (and sony and jvc), which exclusively make and sell 3-chip, is the one to get.

Jvc for the blacks. I would out the NZ3 against the 11000 at a lower price.
In all honesty, you won't notice the difference between 2 close projectors while watching a good movie as you are too invested in the movie. What you will notice of you step down from a JVC NZ7 or better that if you change to a different manufacturer, you will instantly notice the worse blacks. It is less noticable the other way, but still noticable. Of you have the Spare Change get a JVC NZ7 or better and it will be worth it.
I was never overly sold on the blacker blacks until I watched a JVC NZ7 amd the overall blacks was jaw dropping from my already decent JVC NZ3. Definitely will upgrade in the future

    • @trendyprojectors4743

Yes, it is confusing. If the projector is just 1080P and it is advertised as 4K, that means it has 4K support resolution, while the native resolution is just 1080P. I hope it clears your doubt!

I don't know why would anyone buy LS11000 instead of LS12000. The difference in native contrast is huge, especially in low ALP scenes where this LS11000 looks like a DLP.

2,700 Lumens is a pretty big jump from 2,000 lumens though. This would be better for an ambient light setting.

JVC beats Sony any day of the week, not an option, but 99% of reputable reviewers will tell you the same. The reason Sony avoids building projectors on the same price class as JVC as they want to avoid comparison and even the lower cost JVC is equal or better that the Sony. The 5000es doesn't even have full 4k resolution as their new chip dropped it to 3840x2160 instead of the expected. 4096x2960. The JVC that is a step under the Sony price level os just as good and better in reas like black and auto HDR tonemapping acrosse multiple screen areas and that alone makes the Lower prices JVC better than the Sony. When the laser NZ5 comes out, it will eat the more expensive es5000 lunch. Only those in the Sony cult will disagree with this statement. No reputable reviewer will disagree

@@shaneducholke364 In television and consumer media, 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) is the dominant 4K standard, whereas the movie projection industry uses 4096 × 2160 (DCI 4K). We talking about AR that's it. Actually that totally false the new Sony projector are cheaper than JVC projectors and JVC just hit it buyer with a 1K price increase last Feb. Sony projectors are getting very high praised from well know calibrators like Kris Dreeing. Not sure what reviewer you seen that from when the projectors only been seen in venue spots Sony hosted and haven't been released to reviewers yet.

    • @shaneducholke364
      @shaneducholke364 2 года назад

@@Eurica76 I am talking about Sony projectors in general. The past couple years, reviews prefer the JVC in comparison.
With the specific model you mentioned, if you say reviewers haven't seen it, how are you able to say it is better than JVC with such confidence? The fact is, JVC has been dominating the projector game for the past 5 years. 10 years ago, Sony ruled the world but have not found an answer to JVC technology since as they cannot come close to matching the JVC black levels, which now seem to be the area enthusiasts focus on once you get over the $5000 mark.
The price increase you speak of for JVC wasn't for existing models, it was for the new laser models released within each model. It isn't a price increase per say, it is the cost of a 20,000 hour laser compared to a 5000 hour lamp.

The Epson LS11000 4K Laser Home Theater Projector is a top of the line projector perfect for any home theater. It has a native 4K resolution which makes it perfect for viewing any HD content. Additionally, it has a laser light engine which provides perfect color and brightness uniformity. It also has a low input lag which is perfect for gaming or watching movies.

If it’s not really 4K and it’s just a upscaling projector why are they promoting 4K on the projector as if it really is? To me it’s a scam. And also 2500 lumens is low. I have a Sony 5000 lumens projector and it’s not 4K and it will kill that epson with all those fancy features.
