Hey everyone! There is another thing I want to cover off. One possibility following Erebus' vague statement is that Brodie's reasons for not racing could be very personal. Obviously, my full understanding would go to all parties if that is the case. It's hard to know with such little info. Regardless of the reasons, here's hoping we see Brodie having fun behind the wheel of a Supercar at some point in 2024!
Has anyone ever wondered why Erebus is called Erebus? First you'd need to understand who and what Betty's dad was and how that effects the world. Then you'd need to understand who and what Betty really is. Erebus, in Greek religion, the god of a dark region of the underworld and the personification of darkness. Erebus is one of the primordial beings in the Greek creation myth. He is the son of Chaos, who is also the mother of Erebus’s wife, Nyx, the personification of night. Now since nearly everything these days is classified as Entertainment it needs to be understood that "sport" is comes under the same umbrella as things like WWE. It is this simple though. Teams and Supercars require sponsors. Sponsor will only invest if there is sufficient engagement with the sheeple. Stories like this a great way to get it
The way Erebus and Supercars have co-ordinated their statements to suggest that Brodie has a health issue is disgraceful. There is one issue only, the CEO of Erebus. This issue has been brewing since Sept last year at The Bend. Betty has to rid her team of this cancer, although complicated because he owns 50% of one REC.
Agreed! That's probably something I overlooked in this video. A shame not to have Brodie on the grid (at least for round 1) but great to see Hazelwood get a shot in top-tier machinery
Erebus’ statement is very interestingly worded and did take over 24 hours from when news broke about Brodie leaving the team. To me if Brodie wasn’t fit (physically or mentally) the story really wouldn’t have been he quit the team. Without Brodie, I personally don’t see any other team being consistent enough to beat 888 (RedBull) over a championship season.
It's almost like Erebus were caught off-guard by the press picking it up so soon. Will be interesting to see who takes the title in 2024, 888 will no doubt be in the picture
Supercars getting great publicity before the season begins can't be a bad thing. I feel Brodie wants out to go to NASCAR, does have SVG vibes when he announced his retirement for "personal reasons" with the same team many years ago only to return with another. Great coverage once again.
Any '' Second Tier'' USA Tarmac Racing is a Gold Mine for any young Aussie like Kosteki. He's been bred for it. Another stepping stone. He goes orright!!!
Brodie Kostecki has also put up a statement saying that the team has put out a statement without his permission but there is still no explanation. It seems that Barry Ryan could be a likely issue within the team but that’s only speculation. As much as I’m a ford fan, I would like to see Brodie take the challenge on for defending the championship. But I also want Brodie to do what he thinks is best for him
The language used in Erebus' statement was interesting. Does it perhaps indicate that Brodie is having personal issues? Injury? He did have some surgery last year. Though it could be purposeful from the team to muddy the waters. Overall, a shame that none of the last 4 champs will start at Bathurst!
I agree, it has made me wonder if there's something else going on. The vagueness would be understandable if there is a personal issue at play. I just hope we see him back in a Supercar soon!
@@FanAtTheFence with the news that confirming that Brodie will miss round one i think Erebus are trying to save face and only lightley confirming that he has departed the team.
I would suggest that only Betty knows the real reason, and she will tell us when she's good and ready; after all, it's her money that drives the team...
The latest news now is that Brodie has released a statement(4am, 1/2/24) saying Erebus released their statement without his agreement, & he will NOT be racing for them this year.
The question that needs to be asked imo is, why do Erebus keep losing drivers once they start winning races? I believe it's got something to do with salary's and bonuses. Whatever the reasons, I think this time Erebus has miscalculated. Aside from being an amazing and entertaining driver Brodie is a very likeable fella with big start potential and I think Supercars and Erebus will feel the loss if he's not racing this year.
@@FanAtTheFence I still feel like no teams can maintain 888's standard for the year. Erebus did last year but now have none of the drivers. Also a lot less distractions for 888 sorting out gen3 parity etc all last year.
I can tell u the culture in the team is toxic. The above name is a real Ass to work for. The manner in which he acts is school yard level. It’s been this way since Betty took over
It seems to me that its the Engineer/ team principal Barry Ryan is the problem ,first to go David Reynolds , Will Brown and now Brodie , something is toxic there and just cant be issues with the drivers , just stating the obvious
I think you will find that Brodie has departed Erebus motorsport news being confirmed at Erebus that he will miss round one is Erebus trying to save face. I am certain that Brodie has exited and because he has for 2024 he will be on the sidelines as the grid is full and enduroes are also set so no drives unless someone decides to step aside somewhere.
Brodie will definitely not drive for Erebus again. His issue is extracting himself from his 2024 contract with the team, because if he can’t, then he simply can’t race for anyone else. 100% caused by the toxic Barry Ryan. Enough is enough and unless Betty wants to run a team basically with no sponsors, staff or drivers, she has to sack the CEO.
So after reading the Erebus statement Thursday morning, it says that Brodie is still part of the Erebus Motorsport Family... do you think by saying Family it strengthens him joining Nascar being the reality? Why not just say Erebus Motorsport. Nonetheless it's still a wow moment to start of season. Cheers mate 👍
Erebus has the facts and figures on the board, Brodie being missing at the moment, is just a pause in the teams potential. Erebus has proven the cars have what it takes, do the replacement Drivers have the Metal to get on board. It's as simple as that. If Brodie doesn't return, the team and Championship has to move forward, no matter who is behind the wheel. Going to be an Interesting season.
I imagine Todd will have 99 on the car. As he isn't the champion, Brodie could have run 1 if he wanted to and the team would have 99 on pause or for a wildcard . Might have been interesting to put 0 on the car like Nigel Mansell's replacement in f1 years ago when the championship team had 1 and 2, champion gets 1, team mate gets 2, but Nigel went to Indy.
Did you see the statement Brodie Kostecki has posted, strongly affirming that he will NOT be driving for Erebus this year? Wowsers.... Talk about war of words.
Unless it’s a health issue, it’s pretty bloody ordinary to leave a team that took you to a championship. Drivers don’t seem to have the loyalty now of previous seasons, and maybe that’s good, teams will work harder to keep good drivers, but to just dump your team, it seems pretty dirty. Especially being contracted. I’d be worried about my future, if I was a team owner and I saw a driver dump his team while contracted, I would be really reluctant to sign him.
@@robertjames1324 Well he’s not starting in the first round, Erebus say he’s still part of the team and he says he’s not in a position to start seems pretty reminiscent of SVG when he definitely wasn’t leaving Stone Brothers.
It really seams that Erebus put more pressure on the driver rather than the team. Drivers taking pressure for team, I don't wont to say failures, will most certainly leave.
Could be a good way to keep himself busy! I wonder if his Erebus contract would prevent him from even racing overseas...time will tell. Would love to see him at the wheel of something though!
@@FanAtTheFence He raced overseas last year... And I believe that he had/has a couple of wildcard Nascar events lined up for this year... But I believe that was through erebus' connections with Richard Childress Racing.
Unbelievable that Kostecki isn't defending his supercars champion due to Erebus foolishness at the top. Sponsors pulling out Erebus and Supercars made it worst with its terse statement. I'm hoping for Kostecki can race this year. His nascar deal this year could be gone by the wayside since Erebus and RCR made a deal.
Laughable, the pit lane garage no. 1 holder is now a race to race affair, no longer a season holder, as a reward for winning the previous year championship! I wonder which team thought that was a good idea?
V8 Supercars is the only racing series I can think of where they could potentially lose 3 reigning champions in a row before their title defense even starts. It's ridiculous. It look like the USA is the IPL of car racing for these Supercar drivers. If I was the boss of Supercars I would be worried because if the trend continues It will devalue the championship. Erebus and Supercars could lose-out on marketing opportunities if the reigning champion is not on the grid. Fans want to see rivalries if the best drivers are leaving the series what's in it for them? Supercars will just end up being a grid of veterans and young-guns.
