I saw some people were commenting “this comment is for RUclips algorithm” under the last week’s video. It made me so happy to see that we have some amazing people here who genuinely want this show to be successful, and do whatever they can do to help us. How amazing is that! Thank you everyone who loves our micro-buddies! -James
Try to stay under the radar with that strategy.... or YT will just scan and nullify all comments that contain that word.... or worse... make an algorithm that solves it **shivers**
*Ophyroglena muciferas are always the best at magic shows! As a small larva I was always amazed watching them squeeze themselves into tight Ostracod shells with ease. Such grace, such poise!*
Oh Wow, the videography in this one is truly gorgeous. Im speechless.. The new DIC setup combined with the fact that James has obviously truly honed in his craft has led to the creation of something special here. Freakin outstanding. Thank you for creating this for all of our benefit and pleasure.
So a thought just struck me: the spinning ciliate at the end of the "Mysterious Jiggly Crystals and Other Intracellular Structures" video is very likely an Ophyroglena.
I keep wondering why do these just rotate on their axis so much. By the way it feels really great to be able to identify things I see through my poorly self crafted microscope going from what I have learned watching these videos. I think there were two or three videos out when I subscribed, still longing for each new one.
I love this channel with all my body. I saw a chlamydomonas that I just learned about in botany and I got so excited. Thank you microcosmos for these wonderful adventures.
As ever I could enjoy the beautiful content and smooth voice provided by James and Hank. Just what I needed when feeling crappy after a very embarrassing procedure in the hospital. Thanks guys.
Truly fantastic. I can't decide which is more striking to me, the fascinating behavior and interactions of these otherworldly organisms, or the pure aesthetic beauty of these incredible images. Regardless, I feel truly privileged to be witnessing what I am. James, Hank, and everyone else involved, I hope you guys know how special this creation of yours is. You've put on display a world that so many of us would otherwise never have had the opportunity to witness or even know of.
Man I just love this channel so much. Also the ophyroglena in it's rounder stage looks so pretty. Just spinning lazily like the disco ball of the micro-cosmos with all of its vacuoles gleaming as they go round. I could watch it for hours.
Oh my gosh ive been looking for a channel like this for so long. Microbiology that isnt a college lecture or tutoring video. Just cool microscopic life and a description of it
The creator of _Spongebob Squarepants_ was a marine biologist before he started writing the show, so it makes sense that the show would occasionally have some scientifically accurate stuff. Although! Ichthyopthirius isn’t actually a marine disease. It doesn’t tolerate saltwater that well. Instead, There’s an analogous marine protozoan called _Cryptocaryon irritans_. I feel like Stephen Hillenburg knew this and chose to call it “ich” instead because that’s a) easier to say than cryptocaryonasis b) something that a lot more kids will be familiar with, as often infests freshwater home aquariums.
Ich was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned tomonts and trophonts. An insidious, painful infection!! Thankfully the treatments are pretty easy and quick, raising temp above 80 also helps speed up their life cycle, adding salt also helps (1 TBSP/3 gal water, can go up to 1 TBSP/gallon if needed).
As someone with multiple fish tanks, ich is basically a plague. Even after treatment, it's assessed to just be dormant or on plants, in wood and substrate. Essentially waiting for the meds to break down or be removed via water changes. My 65g tank seems to be on a 3ish month cycle of getting ich.
Now... 4 tears later, I see VERY sadly, they are about to close up shop. This was one of the most informative and extremely well photographed microworld channels on RUclips. What REALLY happened ? Hank ? Anyone? Talk to us.
Omg the video is sooo pretty. It's just so different from what I've seen under a microscope. I like that we can see all the little movements all the organisms make. Great videos as always, I'm so excited to see more!!😁
The word “ich” struck fear into my heart once you said it out loud. For this whole video I was like “this life cycle sounds familiar.... WAIT-“ lol :,) aaaa I’m always terrified when I see a little speck stuck in my fish’s slime and it turns out to only be a piece of dirt
Comment for the algorithm... No, but seriously guys, keep this great stuff up, I can't get enough of it... Especially with the new microscope, these images are stunning
Microcosmos should do microbe-themed RELAXATION VIDEOS! (yes, their videos are relaxing ANYWAY, but specific videos for relaxation would be a big hit!)
Can you do a video on bacteria (if your microscope permits it)? There's always this haze of teeny tiny wiggling dots and lines and spiral in the background of your videos, and I really wanna learn more about them.
Oh cool! First mention of the fish disease ICK I've seen here. By any chance do you have a whole program on just that parasite? I'd really love to see that if you do.
I'd love to see a video on the Cyrtophorida. Someone was filming Coleps and Euglenas when one swam past. Ever since, I've been looking for more information on them.
Having dealt with Ich when I was an aquarist, it’s not fun! But mostly it’s about keeping the tank in healthy perimeters and that means the fish are healthy enough to stop microbes from becoming a big issue. I wonder what the nitrates, nitrites, ammonia and other tank perimeters were in the tank where the fish got sick?
TIL: that Ich disease isn't a fungus. (sarcastic gasping) My stepfather was wrong about something, what a shock! Beautiful footage and a very interesting subject! I never thought I would look at what is, essentially, a faceless flesh devouring lifeform and go "wow that's pretty"!
This channel was amazing before.. With the new microscope, this is just eye candy :) btw, screenshots of microorganisms make the best backgrounds for my phone 🦠🔬👍
Damn I haven't watched in a minute so I forgot just how great the new microscope is. Also props to Andrew I ashamed of myself for not buying the sound track when it was available

Would it be possible to produce a microscope that could focus in and out rapidly while using software to render a completely in focus sample? A sort of topographical rendering that would take samples of each focus point and render them together into a complete image.
I comment to appease the algorithm with key words. I would like a mortgage, a house, a car, I like watches and other luxury products and am likely to buy such products if I am reccomended more videos from this Channel.

James, you do some very, very impressive work! That's some of the best photomicrography around.
I truly believe this is this best channel on RUclips, and that's not hyperbole or anything.
Its my personal favorite for sure.

How’s the protist performing arts scene these days? The boys at Covid Corp had been clamping down hard on everyone lately.
Can we talk about how slick that pronunciation of “ichthyophthirius multifiliis” was?

They’re very soothing I find.

The new microscope shots are truly amazing
I love Monday nights. This is my nighttime wind down video. Thank you so much.
