Billy Latty Whenever Plan B decided to turn Letecia pro Nike Will prolly offer her a shoe to cash in on the hype.Letecia is the face of woman's skateboarding, not saying she's the best thats debatle so don't get me misunderstood.She simply has the most noteriety therefore has the most potential to sell more product.
She does, her skating is sick, but filming parts takes a lot of time and this was just meant to be a commercial spot, so they probably shot it all over one or two days. Decent parts for feature-length skate vids are usually the result of filming for months at a bunch of different spots and editing all the best clips together. For the time she had, this is still pretty good but the focus is meant to be more on the brand rep than the skating anyway, they probably wanted to save that for a full vid
I wish I could handle the stigma that comes with short hair, I would love to get it cut like that but I can’t stand the way people treat me when it’s short. Good on her for not caring!
Hate on bigger brands like Nike and Adidas pushing their way into the skate industry all you want. And most of the criticism is valid. But without their presence skaters like Lacy, Nora, Lizzy and Laticia probably wouldn't have found a place in the skate industry and become the inspiration they now serve as.
Ps. I hate that the only pro female anyone ever talks about is laticia bufoni. Bufoni gets soo much attention cuz of her looks rather than her skating...obviously she's still pretty damn good n has put alot of eyes on women's skateboarding, however girls like lacey (who is much better from what iv seen so far) don't get the same attention cuz they lack the typical "bombshell" look...i mean im not sure how consistent lacey is in a contest environment, cuz contest skating is a whole diffrent beast then getrin footy on the streets. Bufoni is a consistent contest skater even tho shes only doing things shes always done n isn't changing the game, you don't have to reinvent the wheels in contest tho.as long as ur consistent.. if u look on the men's side. they are pushing the limits AND reinventing the wheel whilst still being consistent...i kno competitive women's skating isn't in the same place as the men however, its never gonna progress to the men's level if the girls that are being promoted the most (bufoni ect) don't start progressing out of thier comfort zone...it goes for the easier grading curve the judges give the women..i understand womens skating hasn't progressed as far as the men..how do u expect them to push the envelope when a score for a lipslide will be a 9 club for bufoni or any female, when a dude will do a SWITCH lipslide in the same contest n get a 6.5 or 7...if the judges keep grading on such a big deficit between male n females, the females will not progress. as well as hold back progression for womens skate contests in general... guys are always pushing n progressing what is possible in a contest setting because they NEED to impress the judges..if the girls kno theyl be scored higher for easier tricks,why would they risk a fall (no score) to try something gnarly when they kno they can get a winning score doing somthing alot less impressive...when i saw the Japanese girl win SL with a simple front boardslide...smh...GIVE THE GIRLS A REASON TO GO ALL OUT. cuz at this point ur just giving them a excuse to be mediocre...i kno alot of those girls in sls have alot more in them, they just don't have a reason to go all out. Especially when playing it safe is so highly rewarded....STOP giving 9s for simple boardslides...we are literally choking womens skate progression by grading women on a curve...obviously grading a smaller curve would be OK. Thats not thats happening tho...that curve is just way to big as it is...of course it makes sense to grade them slightly on a higher curve, only cuz female skating is decades behind mens skating. They are not THAT much far behind to grade a front board a 9 whilst a dude would have to do it switch with a hard flip trick added in to get the same score.....the women are way better then the contest scoring system gives them credit for...if the scoring method is any indication of how the industry sees the female skill level. I'd be offended cuz they're pretty much saying " yall suck compared to the guys so we are gonna score u acordingly".... if I were a female I'd feel like the scores weren't really earned or justified...im not saying dont grade on a curve at all. Obviously womens skating is still in its begining stages of popularity so close the gap on the curve a little..im not saying grade them the same as the men rather close the HUGE gap in the curve. For example if a trick gets a 9 on the womens side, the men should get the same 9 doin the same trick but switch..as it is now the guy would have to do a fliptrick into it switch to get the same score.
