Hi Julia and Matt. I'm so glad that you are enjoying Tbilisi. We are an American couple who have been traveling the globe for 12 years. We discovered Georgia, about 2 years ago. We lived in Tbilisi, for a while and recently bought a property in a city called Chiatura. It's about 2 1/2 hours north west of Tbilisi.
Oh Hi! We were just watching your other videos. You are such a cute couple! Yes, Chiatura is known for it's old Russian era cable cars. They are still hanging on the cables, but are no longer running. However, over the past couple of years, they have built a new system, which is supposed to open any day now. It's funny, you guys just left Turkey, to come to Georgia, and we are leaving Georgia in a few days to go to Antalya, Turkey. We'll be in Tbilisi, on Sunday. We'll get our test, then we leave for Antalya on June 4th. We'll subscribe to your channel and watch your videos on Antalya. xx

Very well presented video. I went to Tbilisi two years ago. I particularly loved the Marjanishvili district where the well-known Fabrika hostel and cafe is located. Such a cool place.
@@javicaballero99 By "cool place" I actually meant Fabrika. Yes, when I was there in May 2019 I witnessed a "family values/anti-gay" march proceeding along Rustaveli Avenue complete with religious persona and nasty looking thugs. That was very disturbing.

Georgian food and Georgian wines are very beautiful, I have never been, but there is Georgian in my roots by my grandmother, all the Georgian women I know cook very nicely 👍🏻 I would love to see Batumi and Tbilisi in the future 🙏🏻 And you should definitely watch Georgian folk dances. I do not know if there is any place that performs during the corona period, but it is magnificent 🤩

we were there in Tbilisi March 2020, when all the lockdowns happened.. we were trapped in Tbilisi for 7 months before we finally able to go back to Doha where we work on 30th of September that year. Tbilisi is nice but the lockdowns made it a nightmarish experience for us. unforgettable experience indeed..
@@MrFooChops Tbilisi was like a ghost town, only groceries are open and few money exchange, we see only few people and everyone was required to wear mask, like it or not.. however there was an old lady who did the "sign of the cross" several times just because she was standing next to me and I'm an asian (Filipino to be exact).. its funny at the same time its something else..
I've never been to Georgia, but I've been to its neighbor to the south-- Armenia-- and absolutely loved it. Georgia is one of the top countries on my travel list. Thank you for sharing your visit with us!

That's a great video, loved it. thank you for filming Georgia. Actually we learn at school only the third script which we use currently, the script which you see on the signs everywhere. ❤️
Ugh, as a geographer it drives me nuts when people refer to Georgia as a "European country". I know this is mainly because of the religion and politics, but geographically, the country is in Asia. And aside from a few Russian buildings, the architecture isn't European at all, but typical Middle Eastern. The music, food, language and even traditional dress, also have heavy Middle Eastern influence. Even the people are much closer to Arabs in appearance. The country seems to have a more Middle Eastern vibe than a European one. I would not consider Georgia a European country at all, even culturaly. No country in Europe is like this, or has this kind of architecture. But regardless, I think we can all agree that Tbilisi and Georgia are certainly underrated. You're kind of right and wrong about the sites. You're right that the city doesn't really have any iconic "must see" sites, but it's certainly not void of fascinating sites either. Historically, Georgia has largely been a shopping and beach destination, mainly for Eastern Europeans. It's only in recent years that people from other regions have started coming to the country for its nature and historic sites. And now I am afraid the country is becoming TOO popular. But in general I am enjoying your Georgia videos. I love how you always provide some historic information, as well as honest, straightforward and objective commentary, with no out of place music. Your videos have a certain degree of authenticity, and make you see a place from multiple perspectives, which is how travel videos SHOULD be. But unfortunately this is something that I feel is really lacking on RUclips. Keep up the good work guys. Looking forward to seeing more of your content. ❤
To be honest Brian, we are well aware it is in Asia, I (Matt) am heavily in to Geography too. But as you say the politics are a very tricky subject, and I’m sure you can understand, we couldn’t begin to imagine the barrage of hate we would have got on here for calling Georgia, Asia 🥵

But I believe you, so I won't say anymore, since this seems to be such a sensitive issue. Nice video guys. In Georgia we don't use Mozzarella or Feta, mostly it's national Georgian cheeses like "Sulguni" or "Imeruli chees".

I've never been to Georgia, but I've been to its neighbor to the south-- Armenia-- and absolutely loved it. Georgia is one of the top countries on my travel list. Thank you for sharing your visit with us!
Looking forward to staying for a year starting in April. I originally was planning to go to Taiwan but that part of the world remains closed as of now. Georgia looks really good!

Ugh, as a geographer it drives me nuts when people refer to Georgia as a "European country". I know this is mainly because of the religion and politics, but geographically, the country is in Asia. And aside from a few Russian buildings, the architecture isn't European at all, but typical Middle Eastern. The music, food, language and even traditional dress, also have heavy Middle Eastern influence. Even the people are much closer to Arabs in appearance. The country seems to have a more Middle Eastern vibe than a European one. I would not consider Georgia a European country at all, even culturaly. No country in Europe is like this, or has this kind of architecture.
But regardless, I think we can all agree that Tbilisi and Georgia are certainly underrated.
You're kind of right and wrong about the sites. You're right that the city doesn't really have any iconic "must see" sites, but it's certainly not void of fascinating sites either.
Historically, Georgia has largely been a shopping and beach destination, mainly for Eastern Europeans. It's only in recent years that people from other regions have started coming to the country for its nature and historic sites. And now I am afraid the country is becoming TOO popular.
But in general I am enjoying your Georgia videos. I love how you always provide some historic information, as well as honest, straightforward and objective commentary, with no out of place music. Your videos have a certain degree of authenticity, and make you see a place from multiple perspectives, which is how travel videos SHOULD be. But unfortunately this is something that I feel is really lacking on RUclips.

To be honest Brian, we are well aware it is in Asia, I (Matt) am heavily in to Geography too. But as you say the politics are a very tricky subject, and I’m sure you can understand, we couldn’t begin to imagine the barrage of hate we would have got on here for calling Georgia, Asia 🥵
@@MattandJulia I never looked at it that way, as I always consider the geographical boundaries and political/cultural boundaries as completely separate things. But I believe you, so I won't say anymore, since this seems to be such a sensitive issue. Last thing I wanna do is start a shitstorm in the comments, especially since I once learned the hard way that you should NEVER tell a Greek that Cyprus is in Asia. 😂😂😂😂
