I think the new paths look nicer. I didn't think the old ones looked like vomit lol, but I did think they looked a little busy. Much more balanced now.
In California, a lot of the beaches have a little picnic/seating area that is next to the sand so you can eat without getting stuff sandy. They have like picnic tables and built-in grills and stuff for barbecuing. I think something like that would look cool for your empty spot!

This! My island entrance/beachfront is a boardwalk arcade/carnival area. I think boardwalks are awesome for the game, especially with the matching custom pathcode. I also put my shop on the boardwalk so that’s a fun idea too if the wood below it weirds you out like it did me lol 😅

Oh! If you ever decide to change up your farmers market, I'd suggest adding a popcorn machine. There's almost always a popcorn/kettlecorn machine at markets like that, I swear. For the long strip of land, I was thinking a boardwalk before you even said it. Not sure what you're picturing being there, but maybe you could have one part with paintings and a stool so it looks like one of those spots where people draw caricatures of people walking through. That could be fun.
Hey! Rookie question here but eeerm... How do you change the design of cardboard boxes? I have a bunch of them and I want to use them for some fruit stands but the game just won't allow me to customize the boxes. Any idea why? Thanks you so much!

For the long strip, how about a boardwalk/Riverwalk style with a cute little coffee shop and a juice place or a donut stand? Sable gives you a couple patterns with donuts! You could have it like a winding path, but with some benches for folks to stop and drink/eat! An ice cream stand could be cute along there as well!
Oooooo cute long tropical but woodland fairy forest to get to the beach which is a community beach with tons of sandcastles and chairs and like those bags people take. But yeaaaa, the forest vibe with palm trees kinda sprinkled lightly orrrrrrr a little mini fair ground for the beachh!!! With the cotton candy stall and the teacup ride 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

And use the cedar trees to kinda make it look like a Portland beach and less of a tropical beach. If that makes sense lol

I think the idea of a boardwalk is very nice! I see a lot of people suggesting it, and while I do agree I think maybe it'd be cool to have a part of it be a restaurant (as someone else said) and another part could be a sort-of skill-building area for the villagers! If you know of a certain few villagers you want on your island, you can look up what their hobbies and skills are and give them an area to interact with items :)

For that long strip of land you could do a boardwalk that goes through it in the middle. Then you could plant some trees, bushes and/or flowers on the outside. It would be a nice viewing nature viewing boardwalk.
In that empty area you should make a boardwalk restaurant with live music in the center and it can extend on to the beach

This probaby won't fill out the whole strip, but with the surfboards we got in the summer you could do a surf shop with a cafe
