Last time I was here was when I was 7 and he didn't talk at all. 7 years later When I visited in mid July, I was shocked to realize how he was finally to talk to the visitors at Disneyland. I remember that vacation like it was just yesterday. I also remember first walking in and hearing this little girl asking for a picture and I looked at Mickey and he was talking and I was in such shock! I really want to go back soon :)
I experienced this today at Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom and it was quite awkward. He only has what seems like a set amount of things he can say and there was a delay too. My nine-year-old niece asked him a question to which he responded-sounds good. It still needs a lit of work.
omg talking Mickey how awesome i so want to meet him the Mickey i met in Disneyland Paris was a quiet guy but he talked through sign launage witch was cool i gave him a great big hug and said to him i wish i could take you hope for keeps Mickey he just patted my head and hugged me again
its getting better. i bet with time the soundboard guy will get those buttons down, and over time the characters will develop chemistry with whos running the voices.
I love the talking Mickey! I love the fact that you get to interact with the characters more now! I love how much more real they're making the characters! ... But am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea? ... Like, the responses are kinda late and slow. And even then, they may not be the right responses. The guests might ask a question and Mickey may not have the right answer. I think it's best if Mickey remained silent and only answered yes or no questions.
There's definitely room for improvement, but having him talk is just precious to me. Over time the developers will hopefully work out the bugs, but for now its a good start. :)
Yeah I know what you mean. I watched other videos of him talking and his phrases are definitely programed. I thought they would have had someone hidden in the room voicing Mickey, like how they went about Push the trash can.
We saw him yesterday and his "vocabulary" definitely improved. He asked my son how old he was and when my son said 4 Mickey said FOUR wow that's great. Remember that he is meant to talk to little kids and not get into deep conversations with us. But the way I see it is great that he talk to kids now :D
I am going to be going to Disney Land in a few days, and I have a few queistons for you guys: 1: Is this also in disney land? or just in disney world? 2: Can he say anything? Or is he only allowed to say certain things? I am confused about how this works 3: Is this also going to happen with other characters? Last time I went two years ago, Minnie Mouse was talking in some show for girls lol. I'd appreciate it if you can answer my ques! Thanks!
WDW News Today Lol yah! Magic all the way! You guys are really going for something, I could tell! I am confident that in thirty years from now I will look back at this time and think: "Boy, has the magic increased!"
I've been going to Disney World for 21 years, since I was 3, and can honestly say I feel like part of the magic has been taken away with this :( Disney seem to be trying to humanise Mickey (they can't do that - he's a mouse!!) Being back the old, silent mickey!!

One more picture....one more picture... :)
According to the cast member who played Goofy on a reddit AMA, the lines are all selected live by a worker in an office 3 miles away
This is such a cool idea! I want to meet mickey!
The Great and Powerful Mickey!
He owns Star War, Marvel and Fox now.
Awesome! I hope that one day talking Mickey will be permanent in California!

"Super Mickey!"
Fascinating! I wonder if the Disney imagineers will release a video saying how they did the whole voice and movement thing! :D
Potatoes__tomatoes__ I'd love it but I doubt it. They're too secretive about the magic.
I wanna meet him !
I’m redy caming maria miki maous 👍😃

shyHowl Ha-ha! You got that right! It IS funny how a STINKIN' TRASH CAN can improvise and interact with people more than the Mouse himself can!

How does it work? It's Disney magic of course! If there is anything else involved, I'd prefer not to know. :)
Okay

MarKreations Studios It's at the Magic Kingdom, it's magic! Other characters have the ability to talk, but they only use them for live entertainment.
