Thanks for your video! A few minutes ago I ordered my own Baton Rouge V2-C because of your great and demonstrative video. It will be my first Ukulele! I'm just happy now... :D Greetings from Germany!
This was really helpful to help me decide on what to buy. I started playing uke and joined a small group at the local hospital just before lockdown and they kindly let me borrow one. I do play every day and really would like my own. Thanks!
Thanks for this great review. I wanted to get a great beginners ukelele and I searched RUclips for reviews on uke's and I came across your channel. I love your honest review and bases on this review I just ordered this uke at Thomann in Germany for €88. Thank you very much for your honest reviews!!!
Thanks so much for your video! I just purchased this ukulele, thanks to your great comments. I can't wait to get it and play it. Next time when I become a ukulele pro, I will see your video again :)
I dont for the simple reason that I think it's best to stick to what we do best. My channel has mainly been about reviews and there are lots of good ukulele tutors (far better tutors than me!) on RUclips already!
Thank you very much for that informative review. I'm looking for a good ukulele to replace my first one, which is a really crappy beginner one, and saw this one getting so much good reviews even if this one's very cheap. But something that would interesst me is, how it stands in comparision to the more expensive ukuleles. Is the a big difference to a for example 200 € model? (The V2 Sun costs 70 € in germany) And how is the difference to an even more expensive high end model? Thank you for your answer. :)
Hello, I've been looking to buy a uke when I stumbled upon your website and channel, and omg they are so helpful! I was thinking of buying this ukulele, but since it's 2019 I was wondering if there was a more updated model, or another good uke I could get for the same price. If not, I'll definitely be getting this one :) thanks so much!
@@GotAUkulele looks like I'll be sticking to this one then, thanks really! Almost got a Luna, but your reviews helped me and I can't thank you enough lol
I currently think of buying a budget friendly guitalele for home and travelling, there's Baton rouge V2G in local shop. Do you think it would be better than Yamaha GL1?
Another good review. I'm a sucker for an inexpensive uke that has redeeming qualities, and this one seems well worth the frieght. I would encourage any uke fan not to be afraid to buy several ukes, and all the sizes. Baritones are good just for using the standard uke chords to sing songs not good in your range.Ukes are fun to buy, sell, play, trade, give away to a sad-looking child after playing them Hallelujah spontaneously on the street...I love the laminates and got a no-name decent one recently that made my heart sing again. It's only issue was cheesy tuners, which the friend who told me about it commented cheekily that I could replace them and the strings for about $25 which he knew was what it cost! For the first time I have strap buttons and I just love grabbing it, stepping outside playing a tune. I live in Vermont in a wood-heated house that gets quite dry, and this summer it has been a jungle of rain - I love the sturdiness of laminate where I live, and I imagine England would be the same. It's so extreme here that I don't leave one in my car - neg 30 F up to 100 - but I nearly always have one with me. I need to learn to PLAY better now you know? Thanks for all, wish we were neighbors. If you had a uke club folks could try these before they buy LOL.
The tenor version of this ukulele: Baton Rouge V2T (4 chords) vs an Ortega RU5-TE vs Lanikai Kohala Tenor vs Kala KA T Mahogany Tenor. Which one do you think is the best one?
Hey! I'm a ukulele beginner but I already play guitar since a few years so I'm looking for a uke which sounds good but is not too expensive for the beginning! This one sounds really good but I want to know if there is a huge difference between this one and the Baton Rouge V2 sun. Can you help me with this? The other one is a bit cheaper. Would be great to get an answer :)
+Sharlin Lucia The V2 comes in different sizes - so I assume the one you are looking at was a soprano of cheaper - just a slightly shorter scale - still a great choice and still a ukulele!
I wanted to order this ukulele but sadly they don't sell this kind of ukes in the USA ( that I could find ) do you have any other ukes you recommend similar to this one? pricing around 80$-100$? ( concert size )
+Paola Milan That's a shame as these are great - I know the UK distributor - you might want to get in touch and see if he can direct you to a US source - contact Mark Pugh at www.stones-music.co.uk/contact-us and tell him I suggested him. Cannot guarantee he can help, but he certainly has a hotline to Baton Rouge
I contacted him and he said that those are only distributed in the UK sadly, I might consider purchasing one but what scares me are the custom taxes Ill have to pay when it arrives in the US. So can you recommend any other Ukuleles? ( concert size, 80$-100$ )
+Paola Milan If you cannot get one, I would not hesitate to recommend entry level models by Kala - very safe choices from a brand that specialises in ukuleles. Ensure you buy from a ukulele specialist and not try to save a dollar here and there to get a deal buying from somewhere that does not understand ukuleles. You will only pay more in the long run if you do
Hi! Im happy to say that I went and ordered a Baton Rouge Vc2 ukulele from the UK for about 100$ including shipping. I don't regret it at all its a great ukulele! thank you so much!!
From what I have seen they vary dramatically - there are some excellent ones that cost a lot of money. The cheap ones are pretty awful. And whatever one you pick they are harder than you would think to put together!
have you ever played Tanglewood TU 3? and if so, do you think it sounds better or worse that this one? unfortunately there aren't many videos of it on youtube.
I just ordered the tenor version of this Uke online per your recommendation, it better be good!! *shakes fist* Just kidding of course. Thanks a lot for all your reviews, they were a great aid in narrowing down my choice. I would love to hear your opinion about the similar priced Ibanez UEW5 series and Kokio Palau mahogany series by the way.
Yeah, I read that a lot about their older models. The model I mentioned only came out in January of this year but I can't find much info on it yet, good nor bad. I was hoping they stepped up their game a bit. They do look good to me though. Anyways, the V2 Sun arrived today and it looks, sounds and feels pretty good right out of the box, even coming from Thomann. I might lower the saddle a bit with time but for now I'm pretty happy. Thanks again and keep those reviews coming please!
The trouble I find with brands like Ibanez (and Fender for the matter) is they have chosen to jump on the ukulele bandwagon because its popular - but did so by thinking that ukes were not serious. All three brands are guilty of just badging up junk instruments and thinking that's the norm. Dont get me wrong - like Ibanez and they make some fine electric guitars - less so acoustic instruments!

always honest with your reviews Barry, great advice for beginners on your blog as well mate

I had ordered the luna you reviewed but I canceled it and have ordered this Baton Rogue thanks for saving me!
I'd agree - In my view the Baton Rouges are FAR better choices than Luna

And another one sold. Bought the version with a pickup. Both pickup and ukelele sound great. Thanks for the advice!

I did, but then deleted it. They lied to me about their business practices and I don't work with liars. Will never get airtime on Got A Ukulele.
thanxxxs for the review, i bought one as my first uk

Just got 1 of these today sounds amazing got a tuner chucked in with the deal 90 pound I payed but really please with it

After watching this video, I have my heart set on this ukulele, but I can't seem to find any in stock/that can be shipped to the U.S.

Between this and the Kala - it's close, but I actually prefer the Baton Rouge more.
Hello Barry, Have you ever done a review on the Baton Rouge V2-B (baritone uke)?
Afraid not! I don't get sent a lot of Bartitones of any brand!

Bro I'll buy the v2cce . it is an electric version of this one. Do you think it would be a good buy? Thanks
Can't think why not if it's the same uke with just a pickup. They are great starter instruments.
Thinking of a kala ka-c or baton rouge v2 sun, new to ukulele what would you recommend?
I have nothing against Kala - but presented with a choice of those two, i think I'd get the Baton Rouge myself.
I'm having a bit of trouble choosing between this ukulele and the Kala KA-C. What would you choose?
Difficult one - very little in it I would say. I would personally go for the BR actually as every man and his dog has a Kala - be different!
Great, thank you! Just ordered the BR :)
Were to purchase? I'm in California. Can't find anyone who sells them through internet search.
how would this fare with cordoba 15cm? thank you in advance.
I'd take this every day of the week over the Cordoba - this is one of the best laminates at this price point I have ever played.

I have - they are nowhere even close to the Baton Rouge
and what about the Kala KA-C? (again, only asking about sound)
The Kala is much closer in sound and another great choice. Hard to say 'better' or 'worse' - too subjective.
alright, thanks for the replies!
where did you get that gcea t-shirt may I ask?

The V4 has a more exotic looking laminate wood. Same instrument underneath really - depends on which looks you prefer.
