Best video regarding this buffer on RUclips.

I want this buffer so bad because of the power, quality, and variable speed, but for my own personal use I'm struggling to justify the cost. It seems like the only way you know you'll get something that will last, have this level of variable speed and power is to pay government contract prices. Since last year these have went up too. The square pedestal for also went up. Not sure if I'm going to live in envy while I settle for a cheaper one, or shell out the war bucks. Its tough seeing a new Corvette and having to settle for a KIA. My friends already say "nothing but the best for the _____'s." So I'm not a cheap ass. I just dont know if I'll get this and use it enough, but I like shiny stuff. I feel like you really need a business that uses this on a daily or weekly basis where you are generating revenue to pay for it and ultimately profit from it. $860 For buffer and pedestal before tax and ship!

Watch auctions in your area. I just won one via a local online auction for $200

When would you use the unstitched wheel vs the close stitched wheel? My understanding is that the unstitched wheel is for final polishing with a very fine compound (blue colour), but is there really a noticeable difference ? Finally, your machine is extremely noisy at 3600 RPM.

Unstitched is for final polishing. Yes, there's a big difference. It's not so much that the machine is noisy, it's that it's bolted down to a cheap Harbor Freight workbench that has a lot of things on it that are shaking from the vibrations. Bolt it down to something heavy duty/solid/better quality and you cut that down dramatically.

Thanks so much. Excellent review. It's amazing that this product is not made by a lot of other companies. It is, by far, the best machine I've found after exhaustive searching.

Good review. I would love one of these but they are a little spendy for as much as I would use it. I know you touched on safety but its worth saying that a bench buffer is one of the most common injury inflicting tools in a shop. I hate to call them dangerous because people are so spooked about that kind of stuff today but you need to understand what your doing before using a buffer. I am looking at the Eastwood 2 speed buffer it dose I think 1700 - 3400 rpm something like that but this Jet is a much nicer unit. The common usage is fast for hard slow for soft, meaning 1700 rpm for aluminum and softer stuff like plastic even lower and Fast for steel and very hard surface stuff. Anyway thanks for sharing you did a very good job explaining the buffer.

Eye protection is nice and all, but don't forget a mask or respirator.

Have you used a wire wheel on it yet ? Great looking buffer. Looks like the one I’m needing for my garage.
