You do know this happens in every game at every level, right? You don't really hear it when watching Premier League games because they're not filming from directly above the dugouts, and there's also the sound of several thousand fans drowning it out. But if you believe the likes of Guardiola and Slot (or at least their assistants) aren't shouting orders at their players non-stop, you're sorely mistaken.

I've not heard 'travel' as a command before. What happened to 'drive'?

In my mind they're two different things. I see 'travel' to simply mean to carry the ball into the space ahead, gaining some territory. Whereas 'drive' is more head down, running at the opposition.
Otherwise I'd have to assume 'travel' is something of an Americanism.
