My hope is that if the West were to get both expansion teams, that one of three teams moves to the East.
The Seattle SuperSonics should come back without a doubt.
I know Las Vegas is probably the favorite outside of that if expansion happens.
I look at this year at 9 teams that could possibly make the conference finals, depending of course on injuries and or trades that could happen.
West - Denver, Golden State, Sacramento, Phoenix, LA Lakers
East - Boston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Miami.
I think there is nobody right now that is trying to be bad. Some teams will be bad just because of how stacked the top 9 teams are. Just the nature of the beast.
But I am not seeing any team right now that should be trying to tank.
Yes, San Antonio and Detroit and DC and Portland and Houston and Orlando and Utah probably aren't going to be very good. But none of them look like teams trying to tank. They all have intriguing teams that should be able to play very well at times. Youth and talent depth will probably get in the way for these teams. But the ability to compete won't.

I do think they could be a 30-35 win team. I just see Boston, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, New York, Cleveland, Atlanta, Indiana, Miami and Toronto as being better than them this year.
Could they sneak into the play in tournament as the 10th seed? Yes. Will they? I don't know.

The west is crazy, you could see pretty much all the playoff teams with a real shot at the title, all the playin teams are in the "if that last piece falls in line" kind of thing could also take it and even the first team to miss out on the playin is going to probably be as good as the 5-8 teams in the East. Whereas the East, probably the top 4 teams seem loaded enough to win it all, the 5-8 are good and could challenge if everything goes right, but you wouldn't expect the playin teams to be a realistic threat.

Most people have been sleeping on the Nuggets so they don't realize how close they could've been to already being a dynasty.
    Brief history:
'16-17' Miss the playoffs by a single game
'17-'18 Barely miss the playoffs by losing the final game in OT, but still had better record than 3 Eastern playoff teams
'18-'19 Were no.1 seed most of the year(finished no.2 behind Warriors who still had K.D). This was the cores first trip to the playoffs and they end up falling just short of the WCF, losing the semis in a 7 game series that included a 4OT game
'19-'20(bubble year) Made the conference finals, but given only 1 days rest after playing two series that went to 7 games. Also had to face an experienced team that didn't have the wear and tear of the regular season like they would during a normal year.
'21 / '21-'22 Murray gets hurt and misses the playoffs for 2 seasons. MPJ also hurt
'22-'23 MPJ and Murray return. Championship
If the West wasn't so loaded, Nuggets could've made the playoffs sooner and gained experienced sooner. Then if covid doesn't happen and Murray doesn't get hurt, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think Denver could've had at least 2 additional rings by now.

Exactly, had to create superteams just to compete with the powerhouses from the loaded West. And since changing conferences, there is only one year where Lebron's team wasn't in the play-in or missed the playoffs completely. Kawhi spent a single year in the East and was able to conquer it.
