I loved Rad Racer as much as I loved OutRun, because of the use of Ferrari cars and the beach levels. Those 2 video games have made me fantasize of owning a Ferrari. I also got the Famicom version called "Highway Star".

I always wondered if Deep Purple’s massive popularity at the time affected the title. Heck there are still Highway Star cars on the road today

Fun video. Loved this game when I was a kid. Had to rebuy it again as an adult. And yes...while I loved the 3d effect...it is better off played in 2D mode. :)

I loved Rad Racer and also song 1 (Stankoman's theme i believe?). Wasn't fond of the other 2 songs.

Great job! Rad Racer is excellent. I loved the idea of a 3D video game, after having missing out on the Vectrex 3D Imager (stereoscopic 3D accessory) a few years prior. I tried it a few times with Rad Racer, but just didn't like how the cyan/red lenses changed the colors, and usually just played it in 2D. Speaking of how it was nearly a black box (like the other 30 before it), have you seen any of the black cover manuals pop up for Rad Racer? I have two copies of RR, and the earlier version has the black box style manual. I thought that was pretty interesting to see.
