Gotta love those moments where Eggers starts to sound like he’s speaking his own language because he gets so into talking about the niche minutiae that he obsesses over, can relate
Thank you for bringing up Isabelle Adjanj. As a kid of the 80s and 90s..Adjani was everything. She was a combo of blinding beauty and talent. Possession is the tripiest movie and her scene in the metro is something else.
OMG i was thinking about isabelle adjani in possession while watching nosferatu specifically because of how fearlessly lily-rose threw herself into the physicality of her role
never expected to be absolutleey breathtaken by a lily rose deep performance ut there she is,proving me wrong
You should watch more of her work then
Her acting in it wasn’t great
@@chriscunningham8703big disagree
@@chriscunningham8703I don’t like her, but even I need to admit she gave her best, she was very believable.
@ not at all 🙄
One of the greatest performances of all time was Isabelle Adjani in Possession
Thank you! It’s my all time fav and Neil is probably a close second which is just wild to have in one film
Robert Eggers is the greatest thing to happen to the horror genre since John Carpenter! Great film. 9 out of 10.
More like 5/10
@@chriscunningham8703why is your score so low?
@ because I was very disappointed, poor casting choices, poor acting from Depp & Dafoe & Orlok looked ridiculous
John stole the idea from Halloween from Bob Clark.
@chriscunningham8703 Lily rose depp's performance is being raved by critics. Her acting was sensational. 😂
Lily rose depp was outstanding in this film ! In a film full of great acting performances she definitely stole the show !!!! She deserves every acting award for her performance!!!!
Yes! I was surprised no Oscar nom but they do have a history of snubbing "horror" movies
Can´t believe he mention 964 Pinocchio as a reference for the movie. That film was nuts.
Żuławski was absolutely mastermind, glad Eggers mentioned him because it's definitely one of the most underrated directors of all time
Lily is wonderful
💯
"possession"... that is a film i never want to see again. it scared the **** out of me. adjani's breakdown is just insane in the scariest of ways.
give her the oscar, she absolutely is insane in this movie
Lily Rose Depp is so beautiful and talented
and a snipers dream with that 5 head
Worthy successor of her father as much in the talent of actress as in the type of films she covets, thank you thanks, it promises still decades of fantastic quality films. Nosferatu is a masterpiece where she deserves the César in France and the Oscar in the United States.
It's grat that they mentioned Andrzej Zulawski movies. All must watch if you care about cinema. I wish Polish cinema was more popular.
Adjani is a queen
Adjani is a terrific actress
dafoe playing with the cats is actually dafoe being dafoe
I was about to say that Lily keeps repeating "you know" but then we get to hear Eggers saying it a couple of times too and finally the interviewer: "I KNOW that you were influenced by..." haha😄
Looks like Robert is wearing the ring that Willam’s character was wearing in the movie 🔥
ah this is the most beautiful colllab
Damn, Eggers film taste seems so close to mine, did not expect Fukui's movie mentioned in this kind of interviews (tho I prefer "Rubber's Lover" over "964 Pinocchio" tbh). And butoh too, became interested in it many yrs ago while at uni. Btw if someone is interested to see full on butoh on the screen try Teruo Ishii's "Horrors of Malformed Men".
Fr I perked up as soon as he mentioned it lol
Lily Rose is going to be absolutely amazing. 👏
Possession gets underneath your skin
No way did this dude just reference 964 Pinnochio on a Letterboxd promo video
great movie!
I can't wait to see this film. 3:02
The guy looks so much like Bradley Nowell, I thought that was him.
Zulawski love YES
bueno, al menos ella menciona la pelicula de Herzog; la escena de los gitanos de algún lado salió
You could see her Adjani, but not as on the nose as it was in 1st omen
yes, watch Possession instead
Watch both and stop beign a pedantic hipster.
Omg why does she have to vocal fry when she speaks English ?!
0:19 "one is the most iconic possession performances of all time for good reason"
...There's no possession in Possession lmfao. That mofo totally just watched RUclips clips of *that one freakout.*
What a glib understanding of one of the greatest surreal horrors ever made.
There is no vampire in the new Nosferatu either, numb nuts, but it's still godawful
Why is he referencing Isabelle Adjani in Possession instead of in the actual movie he is supposedly remaking? Adjani was also in Nosferatu, people, the 1979 version, and saying "superior" doesn't even cut it. Eggers is a flat out liar when he said he intentionally did not watch the Herzog version. What a joke.
He never said he didn't watch the Herzog version. He just hasn't watched it in years because he wanted to do something different in his version. You seem pretty upset about this, why not take a breath and relax? Murnau and Herzog's versions still exist.
why would he make a film that’s already made? if you’re remaking something it has to have a purpose, you have to give another perspective, that’s what he’s done there
Dear scabs6669: Get out of your house for a while. Go for a walk, drink a beer, dance, date a little. You are stressed because of a person who doesn't even know you exist.
@XWNLOX HE WILL. When I get my Oscar.
@XWNLOX
we used to have awful people making great films. Now we have awful people making awful films. U can't understand this bc for you it's only a bad movie. But for me its the decline of cinema, of an artform, of imo the greatest artform in the history of man. And when you love cinema, when you live and breath cinema, and you something this intentionally godawful on every level disgracing the cinema screen, it feels like your lover is under attack.
Why her face looks so weird tho, the whole movie she looked like she had concealer on two black eyes, strange strange skull shape on that woman
It's Gothic, baby
@theblueagate you can be goth and pretty too
This movie is trash
Yeah this movie was incredibly mid and I had high expectations unfortunately
@Chaoticpixie69 i did also, maybe that's why I'm salty
Anyone I know who cares and knows about film has said it's bland, dull and weak. And I've never seen so much talk about influences on a movie as much as this. Maybe just come up with something that'll be exciting and original next time. Oh yeah... He's redoing Labyrinth next..
Some really strange takes here. What did you guys expect? Eggers has successfully pulled of a faithful adaptation of the 1922 classic as well as adding his own characteristic touch to it AND making this a suitable scary flick for modern audiences. He really outdid himself with Nosferatu, not sure what all the unnecessary hate is all about
@@Meesterlijker "modern audiences"
So hard to make period movies now since all the actresses have plastic surgery and look too modern
Nicole Kidman ruined The Northman.
Tbh, her face does give off a medieval painting kind of look. I know that's a couple hundred years off, but I thought it kinda worked here even though I'm not particularly fond of all of that plastic surgery.
