    I like to see Jacarandas planted near Silky Oaks. The orange and the purple look great together. Saw a couple of flame trees in Grafton. The red is fabulous near the purple too.

    Hey all if anyone from Tasmania on here . You can grow jacarandas here you need they need protection from frost first two to three years so make a hot house for them with a roof as frost comes from top down. I Planted mine in a pot with 4 stakes and plastic around left this on for first year of growth then planted in garden with a timber frame and plastic for next two years with a roof, which goes on in deep winter ❄️ I’m going to give it one more year in plastic then next summer it will all come off and hopefully it will survive. Yes this a lot of work and you have to wait two to three years to see plant… but if you make blinds to open in summer to hardening off plant 🌱 for winter you get to see it
    Oh also i got anold plastic pot cut bottom out then cut pot up one side so I could protect base of trunk… then as plant is 100mm down deeper than lawn I but soil up to trunk pot protecter so I have a 100mm layer of soul over the base of plant!! Htms so I water plant with seasol and power feed straight in pot and around base of plant my theory is keep plant warm and as we have strong western winds in winter I’m close to the ocean as well…
    Roof of hot house is smaller that the sides so rain can water base of plant. As all this seems to be working
    hope this helps anyone in frost areas and if anyone has tips for me would be greatly appreciate…

    Jacarandas are not from Central America, but from South America. Moreover, they are native trees in an area of South America at a latitude similar to that of Australia, therefore those trees should feel at home, with the sun shining at the same height as in their homeland.

    Question: My One year old Jacaranda is approx 25 feet tall. Single trunk tree with all the growth (approx 5 feet) near the top. The branches are about 12 - 15 inches in length... I lost a number of lower branches during the year, due to wind and dry conditions. It is also starting to lean... Is this tree in trouble or is this ok? It looks like the tree that's being planted in the video above... but much taller... Does this tree eventually "branch out"

    My jacaranda tree damaged from high winds. Broke from top trunk. Young tree and only 5ft tall. Can tree grow back? After I cut the trunk down about 1/4% off.

    • @vincentwalker5051
      @vincentwalker5051 2 года назад +1

      All cutting of trees should be no more than 1/4 of the height anymore and it’s to stressful for plant
      Yes it should as long as the main tap root has not snapped or any major root damage as base of tree has moved in ground that much from winds… keep the seasol and power feed up to plant as its in shock! I would get two side horizontal or if you have a vertical shoot tire one each side to main vertical trunk and it will replace the snapped main vertical leader then when it gets to the height you want or reach with a ladder tire it horizontal … the only problem your plant will have it not grow to a very tall plant… but it will come back it may take 2 years to get back to its original height plus the height you have loss from snapped leader
      I have a wind break plant in front and to the side of my jacaranda to protect from high winds you need to do this also as it will happen again!!!! Hope this helps
      How is plant going?
      I only found this today as I’m going to try and propagate mine

    • @vincentwalker5051
      @vincentwalker5051 2 года назад

      @@johntc7442 just something to think about did your plant snap off were your pole finished which I’m thinking it did… it’s good for plants trees to blow around in wind I would put three poles in away from roots and use string or ladies lol stockings be better you need it to flex and let tree move with wind but not to much that base is moving… the more a tree bends the more those roots need to hold on hence good healthy soil and seaweed liquid fertiliser seasol power feed to get that soil pumping… if the base is to well supported and top is bending, it has no movement to bend the young trunk and bang it snaps. Trees are meant to be flexible keep that in mind good luck mate
