Have you ever tried to a add a noise to the bump channel for a 2cm Sphere? It seems not to work properly, I'm really disappointed. Once it is a procedural texture, it should work with every scale.
It makes no sense to maintain this material system once RS has been integrated. The native material system is terrible, not practical and very slow to render. It doesn't make sense anymore these days.
