Loved every single moment! I think the combination of a very accessible impressionistic tonal language with complex rhythms works effortlessly. It's something I wouldn't have expected.
Yoshimatsu's compositions always bring surprises and emotions. This piece is no exception, showcasing his signature style. The captivating melody and harmonies are truly beautiful. 🎼🌟
I always wonder who translates the names of the movements into English because in Japanese, they have slightly different meanings than the published titles. For example, “Time in romance” and “Anima in crystal” should be translated into English more along the lines of “Romance of Time” and “Crystal(ized) Anima”. I say this as a native speaker of English and Japanese because “Romance in Time” and “Anima in Crystal” sound ambiguous and confusing to my English brain. Nuanced, yes but I think it’s important for the player to have the right understanding of a piece’s name. A good example of this is Bartok’s “Out of Doors” which was just a poor translation of “outdoors” but this can have a misleading effect when interpreting the piece.
Игра воды. Роса. Туман. Утренний сон. Лирика. Романтизм. Красота природы и Души. Высокая чувствительность. Внутренняя чистота и оригинальность музыкального мышления. Всё это слышим мы в этой Музыке. Спасибо Автору за сочинение.
Anyone got any suggestions for pianists similar to Yoshimatsu? All of the ones that are coming up online I've already heard of (typical impressionism composers) or are just a completely different vibe.
A similar composer to Yoshimatsu I'm aware of is Masashi Hamauzu, he is mostly known for composing for some of the Final Fantasy video games and he has quite the lovely piano works.. I recommend you check out his Etudes and other works from his Piano Pieces album from 1999.
haha good shout. Already aware of him, too unfortunately. I discovered Yoshimatsu after searching for Japanese impressionism composers after being blown away by Tears of the Kingdom's music - I feel like his music shares a lot of similarities with TOTK and BOTW, as well as traits commonly featured in Japanese vgm in general! @@musicboiscores
The sheet music of this piece, originally published in 2012, is now out of sale. It is available only on demand to Ongaku no Tomo Sha Corp.(Japanese music publisher). You can order it at a bookstore or a music shop, but I'm not sure if it is possible from outside of Japan. Details regarding this sheet music can be found on the company's website(※Japanese only).
Relative of a friend of mine was in Japan, they bought the score in Japan and had it sent to my friend, then my friend scanned the score and sent it to me for use in this score-video.
