These were REAL cars! And that VQ35HR/VQ37VHR was a gem of an engine. Infiniti needs to go back in time to capture everything that made them fun and unique. A shame to see their current state as a brand, an embarrassment.
@@woahmikee Oh please! There are better platforms out there, B58 and Lambda 3.3T for not much more money. The VR30 is a relatively good engine but everything else in the Q50/Q60 leaves A LOT to be desired. Suspension is dated and the transmission is ANCIENT.
The best Infiniti when they rebadge a JDM Nissan. The G35 is a Nissan Skyline 350GT this make it a cheapest way to own a Skyline if Nissan GTR or Skyline R34 is too expensive
If you're looking to beef up 37vhr engine. Keep the vhr bottom end and take off the top end, put on the hr top end on the engine. You can do bigger cams, pistons and shit than you can do on a fully built vhr engine internally and externally. You can get more power and quicker acceleration too. There's a shop in tuscon Arizona called TRG, turning ratchets garage. Nick Allen is the owner, wonderful guy and an awesome friend. He knows everything about infiniti and Nissan, specializes in g37's and 370z's. I'm going to be putting on the hr top end on my 08 g37s coupe 6mt, Fast intentions stage 3 turbo with a lot of goodies to go with it. I'm going to be spending about 60k-70k on the whole build. It's gonna be a daily driver too, meaning A/C, secaro black leather heated racing seats(i love my heated seats), roll cage, radio, heat and all electronics. I could daily it but it will suck bc having a shit ton of power going super slow or 1-2 shifting in traffic sucks ass as well lol. If there is one guy who is at least equivalent to the guy who does all the tuning videos for RUclips for 370z's and g37's (I forget his name but i think he's in Texas or something like that, mosaph or assaf, my apologies to that guy bc I don't remember his name) nick Allen is the guy for you. His team of guys are fucking awesome. Ryan and Tyler drift their cars g35 and 370z for nick. Anyhow, anyone who wants to build a car, talk to nick Allen at TRG. He's quite thorough and will explain everything in great detail for ya. They also build bmw's, audi's, land cruisers, build mercedes as well, work on Bentleys and jaguars as well. They don't have a dynamic yet but they have a "sister shop" that has one and they work together sometimes. My build is gonna take about 6 months to do bc of waiting time for parts and shit but yeah, I'm fucking excited to see how much power these cars can truly make without going only to drag racing to see its potential.
Everything was pretty much accurate except that the g37 makes around 330 horsepower. Also you forgot about the g35 6 speed manual which has the rev up engine that makes a bit more power and has a higher redline. You also forgot about the Infiniti g25
Nice, real world tests. Too many variables to consider for level playing field accuracy but cool nonetheless. I, myself picked up a high mileage G35x HR as a "winter beater". After realizing the commendable performance in base form, I dumped twice the money what i paid for the car into FBO/tune and suspension mods, along with other bits. Point is, these VQ naturally aspirated powerplants are a gem. My other car is pictured with a built engine so certainly high praise for the G.
I've owned 2 myself. Absolutely loved them. 0 issues besides 1 wheel bearing over 5 years. Definitely going to pick up another one or a G37 coupe. How much WHP did you make?

True, I was going to say the same thing, about the G37 power at least.
Also you forgot the G37s IPL which is factory tuned good for 350hp.
Pretty sure a G37s IPL 6MT does sub 5 second 0-60mph.
Forgot the hybrid also.

I believe the coupe switched to 7AT from the year 09 and up.
