It may be safe for you for but other tourists they will stick out like a sour thumb and will be targeted......Asian looking or Blond hair just watch out...Also it does not matter where you stay at in El Poblodo and Laurales because that is where all the gringo or gringa go and all the thief will target.
You make some very valid points, but in life, we are who we are, and if a travel destination is calling 📞 our name, we must answer that call. Regardless of our color, race, or creed.
Ive been visiting Medellín for over 2 years now. Ive never dealt with any issues at all. I was born and raised in uptown New Orleans in the projects. I never did drugs, drink, or smoke. I dont hang with bad crowds nor do I look for that 'element'. To the people who say its dangerous: statistics show that any major US city is more dangerous than Medellín, period. I wouldnt be stupid in Manhattan, Kansas City, Memphis, Detroit, Chicago, Santa Fe, Seattle, or any other major city. Why da HELL would I want to do that in any foreign city??? Com'mon man. We have to stay smart. I'll be back in April and June. I will retire there....

I understand what you're saying, and every major city can have its rough and tough side, but as a tourist/visitor you should have a solid reason as to why you want to visit certain neighborhoods and zones.
I am a single male traveller. I am in El Poblado Medellin right now and have been for the last 2 months. Medellin and Colombia as a destination is NOT very good ! At best you will be harassed, over charged and under delivered. A worst you will be extorted, drugged, robbed or stolen from. There is not one bar where you can have a reasonably priced beer and watch girls dance. Parque Lleras amounts to sitting on a stone bench, with a Las Vegas priced drink and publicly interacting with street walkers. If you want the real deal, Thailand, Hong Kong or the Philippines are way better options.
I've traveled to South east Asia few times now the BEST holidays Ive Ever had BUT... I wana travel check out Colombia 🇨🇴 next Year If God willing n Jesus name I Pray hallelujah and AMEN ☝️ 😊

We can't run from scams and schemes; we just do what it takes to not be involved with them. Plenty of travelers have gone to and from Medellín, even lived there and hadn't dealt with any of these issues. It's because they don't do anything or go in the places that have the criminal element. I love going to Medellín. I will retire there one day...
Its a beautiful city with rich history and culture. But I agree with your feedback but do the research look for the red flags and use your common sense.

Depends where you drink & dine that. Price can range anywhere from $10 USD to $30 USD. Speaking in terms of non pricey establishments

You need to get away from El Poblado, Sir. Medellín is safer than the major cities of the USA.
