    FYI in the USA the paddle clamps have a different name: Yakima TopGrip: Paddle, Shovel, or Axe Holder Brackets for Roof Rack Crossbars - Universal Mount

    Great set up! Looks like a great rack system. I’m considering it myself. How was installation? Was it riveted in and what is the net weight rating after the cab max, weight of rack, and weight of the components? I’m trying to be super careful so I can get the most on my rack without exceeding the allowable weight especially when offloading.

    Any trouble with awning being mounted between the cab and canopy. I'm being told not to do it because of flex. I love your set up and would be great to get some feed back feed back on awning set up.

      Hey mate, thanks for your reply & feedback. My setup has definitely evolved plenty since I filmed this a few years ago… The awning has been completely fine & no issues at all spanning across both platforms. I currently have a 270 degree awning mounted and this also is proving to be completely happy. Hope that helps mate.

      @@racinsadventures597 Thanks for replying. I have a Yakima platform and mounting a 270 awning. I've seen a later U Tube with the Ironman removable bracket and like that set and brackets

    What is the mount for the Aceo'Spades and MaxTrax? I like how it sits on the T-SLOTS and allows you to mount both a paddle/shovel and recovery trax in that configuration.

    The LockNLoad will finally be released here in the USA. I have a 2011 Xterra looking to replace my original rack, can anybody point me on the right direction on how to do this. Since the xterra has the drop in the front I haven’t heard how I can mount this on so it a complete front to end. Can I mount it on the original drill holes or do it on the gutter?

    What's the wind noise on the racks like?

    • @digaum
      @digaum 3 года назад +2

      I have the same question. Been reading some horrible reviews on the Rhino Rack Pioneer and wanted to know how this Yakima Lock N Load compares to it. It's certainly less expensive, but as for the wind noise design, well, that's unknown.

    • @JXM777CG
      @JXM777CG 3 года назад +2

      @@digaum oddly enough I can sorta answer this now. I ended up getting the rhino rack pioneer platform and I cannot hear them over the off-road tires at highway speeds. If your rig ends up getting bigger tyres, bigger exhaust and a snorkel, the wind noise off a roof rack will pretty much just blend into the overall drone.
      I don't have personal experience with Yakima but anecdotally I hear they are much the same in sound levels. I don't think it matters if the slats are horizontally oriented (Yakima) or vertically oriented (rhino rack). Both companies sell a wind fairing to attempt to alleviate much the same complaints. Hope that helps mate!

    • @digaum

      @@JXM777CG Thank you very much, mate.
      Yeah, I've read on the product reviews page that many people were still having absolutely horrible wind noise even with the fairing installed, so that has put me off quite a bit. Some reports indicated that having a conversation was impossible in the car, so I guess that the severity of the wind noise depends on the car design and how the aerodynamics of the vehicle "marry" the rack. If you don't mind me asking, what car did you install the Pioneer on?
      Thanks!

      @@digaum not at all mate, it's on a 2014 Isuzu Dmax. LSM trim so standard level of insulation / sound deadening. I hear you can marginally improve the cabin noise situation if you install a ceiling and floor lining kit from a company like carbuilders.
      110kms on the motorway and you can still talk but maybe a tiny bit louder than standard indoor voice and definitely won't be whispering. I will concede that at that stage in a trip I've got the music up and not doing much talking anyway. I agree It has a lot to do with how the shape of your car funnels wind into the gap between your top roof and the platform if whether or not you get a whistle or vibration sound.
