Now THIS is what I would call a masterpiece figure. Perfectly painted an sculpted, minimal kibble, a transformation that doesn't wanna make you rip our eyes out in frustration, etc. Take notes, Takara.
I have no regrets buying Prime but this one...I thought it was able to connect to Prime automatically, deploy the stand by its own and the ramp and expecting that, the price of $700 seemed steep. Without those functions, this is not a $700 accessory. I'd pay $150 to $200 at most. IF it had included those functions, I probably would have gone as high as $300. Thanks for the review though, it answered a lot of questions. Was this the bigger than Unicron item you hinted at before? Because I'm still expecting a 4 foot high Metroplex sometime.
11:22 ha I love the way he turns around and the squeezing noise it looks funny and I wish his low torso transform and turns around while his upper torso is transforming
I love the details inside the trailer. Like, besides the Combat Deck there are two other consoles for Spike to sit at; these, along with the Spike figure himself, are vestiges of the Transformers' origins as Diaclone toys, which came with human pilot figures and were supposed to represent military weaponry, not sentient robots from Cybertron.
I have to say, much like the auto-converting Optimus Prime figure, this auto-converting trailer with Roller is beyond amazing! :D It's so cool that now we can have the complete package of the original 1980's Optimus Prime figure with auto-converting! It's also neat that it plays the end portion of The Transformers classic theme song, and Roller plays an 8-bit arranged version of the G1 theme! As you've said before, PVP, I do wish that the trailer's ramp was part of the actual transformation to both Modes as opposed to being a separate piece. I also wish that the Anti-Grab Drone's radar dish, and claw were part of the conversion as well instead of being manually operated. And it would've been nice if the trailer's strut stands were part of the conversion too, but, I kinda understand why they didn't do it. Other than that though, this is simply a flawless, amazing kit to go with the Optimus figure! I absolutely LOVE this thing!
In my school vr game optimus prime once launched his trailer at goalius a advance decepticon that destroyed the arks weapons system that is insane and fyi goalius is still alive from that
I agree .. for the price u pay .. the ramp should automatically deploy.. and what’s a few more plastic gears to make a radar turn and to move the mechanical arm
I was in the right place at the right time to see the Optimus in all its transforming glory. The chances of me ever seeing the trailer with him are very low (but never 0).
I got a handheld football game that still works. You can change the battery. Not everything must last 40 years... yet at this price you would want something that can last more than 3 years.
hands down the best review ive ever seen on youtube. job well done. brilliantly shot & narrated… product itself is just pure magic… it’s almost as if i’m 8 years old again but this time the toys are gigantic. i absolutely love it.
This is a really awesome collectible (toy), however the title is not entirely accurate. This is not the first auto-converting trailer for an Optimus Prime. When the Transformers: Armada toy line came out in 2002/2003, the deluxe electronic Optimus Prime came with a trailer that would auto transform once you converted Optimus from Truck to Robot. The trailer would convert from vehicle mode to base mode, then it could transform from base mode into power linx mode, standing upright so you could put Optimus on top. It's not as sophisticated as this new version, but it was the first.
Possibly the first idea to usher in the self transforming figures into the market. I won't be surprised if this is the next page for all the transformers toyline.
Just got this today. Kinda disappointed the ramp doesn't deploy automatically and lack of voice control is also kind of a bummer. There should also have been a better system to connect Optimus to the trailer. Other than that seeing them together is still pretty damn epic.
I skipped on it way back before it was licenced, and it was only 250. There was a trend in the mid 2000s for these servobots and I got one at tru for 50 on clearance, I would have never imagined the price getting this high ever!
Are you excited for the new upcoming Nickelodeon Transformers: Earthspark Series? Because I am! And we already got the cast. And you're going to love this, Optimus is going to be played by Alan Tudyk, yes that's right, Dutch from Dark of the Moon himself! And Megatron by Rory McCann, who fans will recognize from his never ending role in Game of Thrones. But I mostly know him from playing Tennyson Torch in xXx from 2017.
For all of you wanting the ramp to have come out by itself, they could've done that at the expense of not having the automatic transformation to battle station mode. I'm just guessing here, but keeping about three to five pounds of plastic in a vertical orientation requires a hefty servo at the base, not to mention even getting half of that weight vertical and then the stresses of having the other half flip itself into the same position w/o the servo giving out on, say, the tenth time going thru the transformation is the only reason why the ramp isn't automatic. There just wasn't enough room under the trailer for it to be stored there, or let it extend or retract. I honestly would've loved to have seen how the trailer is lifted during the transformation to see if they could've done something different, but I doubt it.
yeah it wouldn't have been that hard to do because in G1 Optimus Prime's trailer doors actually lowered down like the flag trailer and Knight Rider and a ramp so they could just as easily done that instead of a double door trailer that's the biggest fall
Man, imagine how it'd be the day we have optimized technology to do this in real size We'll be dominated by machines but at least we'd get real transformers
I just watched a video not too long ago about the physics of the Jaggers from Pacific Rim. The amount of power to weight ratio is ridiculous and just can't practically be done. Yes, I was saddened to hear this news myself but be mad at "science" not me!! So, we won't have giant robots of any type running around anytime soon I'm sad to say.
@@The1uptriforce I've seen those videos....but it moves slow in comparison to let say what you would see in the movie Pacific Rim. I'm not 100% sure of all the actual physics that would be involved with having a robot that big actual walking, or running around on it own. I have just seen a few videos on it, and the power to weight ratio with electric motors or hydraulics, we just don't have the means to do something like that now.

I've got this on pre-order and I'm a little disappointed. A retracting ramp is simple to do (though it would've made the trailer much taller), and it would make it possible for Roller to auto deploy. That said, I'm still looking forward to it.
Megs would likely have to be a tank if it happens, though, what with the gun laws and everything (plus the fact that tanks have been his standard alt mode in recent years, along with the sheer interactivity it has compared to a static gun).
I can I understand the ramp not auto extending. That would have required some delicate slider servos. But being a separate piece? That’s pretty lame. It should have just been a sliding ramp exactly as it was on the mp-10 trailer. As for the size, I am anxious to see the forthcoming trailer for Lewin Atlas. That’s going to be a beast.
The only reason I can think of for the ramp not being automatic is space. The trailer does fold at the halfway point, so maybe the ramp didn’t fit? I still wished they’d figured something else out.
If you ever get your hands on an original dyaclone ( toy line that gave birth to the transformers ) those have some interesting moddels and toys not featured on any transformer episode or movie.

It's far less expensive, doesn't require some downloadable app that could be corrupted or lost, and it has two transformable modes -- one for transforming the trailer into a battle base, and the second for transforming the trailer into Super Optimus mode. Don't get me wrong, this is pretty cool, and I am a diehard G1 fan. But I still prefer the Armada Prime over this.
I echo the sentiments that many have expressed about the ramp, and I certainly hope that they make an update to this item with that very issue fixed (as well as a few others). Also, I feel like it should be very easy for the Optimus Prime robot to simply roll backwards onto the trailer and attach without difficulty. If this was a $10 toy, none of this would bother me in the same sense that the original G1 Optimus had fists that you just had to hope you didn't lose. But for this price, everything should be absolutely perfect including the ramp. Also, the G1 trailer had square opening so that the repair drone could stick directly out the front has an extra weapons system. It would be nice for the repair drone arms to function as well. Along those lines, when it's time for Roller to be able to tow the trailer with its own hitch, that should automatically deploy as well. Make no mistake, the engineering on this item is fantastic, but I think that these issues should be addressed for the price point. Conversely, to pay a few extra bucks to have everything perfected would not bother me as a consumer.
