As a sixteen-year-old in England in 1970, I bought a CB160. I loved it but it ate three crankshafts. The second one that I put in was, at that time, the last one in the UK so Bill Head Honda of Preston, Lancashire had to order one from Japan! I installed that one, overhauled the engine after which it became someone else's adventure. if you get my drift.

Over in Malaysia here in 1974 I had ridden the CB 175 version owned my high school class mate, instant love over other even bigger 2 stroke bikes, but can't afford one during that era of my life. Now at 65 got hold of a CB 250 Nighthawk ( ex-police bike) with much solace in retirement life. Lovely little Hondas . Best wishes to all.

Incredible job restoring this CB160. I bought one new when I was in the Navy, stationed in Hawaii from 1663-66. I shipped it to Seattle when i got discharged and rode it home to Ohio via San Diego, Death Valley, Pike's Peak, Wichita, KA and home to Cleveland, OH in fall of 1966. I only weighed about 130 then so it was an easy ride. I'm 71 now and retired from the FAA.

Great story! I had a 1965 CB160 back in 1971-it was a very nice little bike. Since I was only 17, I didn't take care of it like I should have. Wish I had it now!

Got my first one in 1965 Goroka PNG Royal blue. Sold it to return to Australia then 3 years later returned to Goroka and bought another same colour. Absolutely incredible and totally reliable. Sold it in Goroka 1972 and replaced it with a gorgeous Australian girl....miss those bikes, but miss her more after. 44 fabulous years. Am a widower with 1000’s miles open to me in Australia but have never trusted motorists so keep the memories.

In 1966, I envied my friend's CB160 but was short on budget so i bought the 160 I could afford, a Ducati Monza Junior. Saved me about $100 but cost the joy of owning the best. After a year, the Ducati was worn out, the CB still running like new. Cheap is dear.

Great video. I have watched it several times. Memories of my first ride, a 1966 CB 160, red, like the one in the video. Love it.

My first Honda motorcycle of four at the lean sweet age of 17. I bought a 1965 Honda CB160 from my uncle Ted's dealership in my home town of Waterville ME. Put 7,500 safe miles on it and never had any performance issues. My edition had an after market roll bars and a sissy bar. At the ripe age of 72, I remain in the posession of a vintage VF V45 750 Magna for which will be returned to concours.

Had one of those late 60s, rode 21,000 with no major problems, commute, camping high Sierras, off road, on road. Never had surging idle or noisy valve train. I laugh at those who THINK they need huge, heavy bikes for touring. Traded in the 160 for a CX-500, continued touring, commuting, no tickets, no crashes, no breakdowns. Long ago fun and memories.

Amazing job, as an ex Honda mechanic it sounds like you have a lifter that is just a tad loose.

Beautiful bike. I was in the 10th grade in 65 and wanted one so bad I could taste it. Went to the local dealership one Saturday to just look and ended up getting a Super Hawk. I couldn't believe my dad actually saw the value in getting the bigger bike. I had a good friend who had a 160. Sadly, he was president of the 80 mph bike, 20 mph brain club and got killed on it. I quit riding for a short while but finally understood that we have no control over when we go so I should enjoy living. i still ride today.

The CB160 is a beautiful bike, surpassed only by the sound of it's twin cylinder engine. I rode a 160 Scrambler but always admired the CB's look. You did a fine job of restoration on this one, congratulations.

I had a close friend in the mid'60's that bought one new - a black one - by delivering newspapers. It was such a clean little bike and he got many great miles out of this machine. He accidentally got the end of a finger clipped off by getting it caught up in the chain and rear sprocket while it was running! What a great small bike here.
