Thank you so much for the compliment! I actually flew Mason out to Arizona so we could give this review the proper treatment. I think he did an amazing job too! Thank you so much for watching!
I really like the editing and style you did with this video and going on location is a huge plus. I think it's great they implemented a leveling up feature. Kinda reminds of being able to save progress on the Neo Geo to a memory card and take it with you. I enjoyed this video as always.
I’m not interested in Venom but Brian Eddie is my favorite designer and I’m glad to hear his latest design here has some people excited. The fast locks look really innovative.
I love pinball and i love carnage. When i first saw this, i thought id never be lucky enough to play but i randomly went to a bar i used to frequent and there it was. Loved it but its tough.
The quality of this video is next level great job Ralph! I enjoy this game as well and actually won the local launch party tournament with a score of like 950 million..its fast, full of combos and just plain fun
@RetroRalph That's a pretty good score as well there is a tournament strategy that I like to use amd when it goes well you can put some great scores but if it goes bad it can go real bad! Lol Try to have at least 5 balls locked woth Brick then change characters to Peter Parker and start carnage multiball then roll into the other multiball and play them together to try to double up the jackpots on each shot
The only comic I read growing up was Mad Magazine; I don’t know from comic book characters. That said, every time I SEE this machine, the … _GESTALT(?)_ of the thing just vampires ALL my attention (the model w the purple & yellow accents _especially_ so). It’s only a two-bat fan table rig w hellaciously complex rules/modes. Then why do I see this thing in my sleep? I think it _has_ to be the ART ALONE-the eyes, mouth, & tongue & color!) of Venom are just SO effin UNIQUE compared to any other comic-themed pin I’ve seen. 🤷♂️ I almost want it in my house just to LOOK at the sumbitch! 🧐
Retro Ralph you really have hit my funny bone with this new score and this amazing PIN. Yes its true I need one of these pins in my home. Great Review BRO!
That’s an interesting point you touched upon: A game theme can be uninteresting or even off putting for a player, but still has the potential to become their favorite game. Although theme is usually the first impression when playing a game for the first time, it is just one element of many to the game itself. I had no interest in the themes of Stern Jurassic Park and EHOH, but now own both and play them frequently because of the depth in code, challenges, flow of shots, and just really fun to play. Even the Capcom Airborne I have is a game I play all the time because of all the accomplishments needed to progress, and the interesting aspects of the code. Conversely, I have a Scooby Doo that I absolutely love for the theme, but do not play as often due to the lack of code at this time. I have also found that some themes I haven’t resonated with have become themes I really enjoy now. I guess it’s true not to judge a book by its cover; you might miss out on a gem.
Thanks so much bud! I just sent someone your way that had an AtGames question. I always do actually so I hope that’s ok 🙏🏻. Thanks for all that you do for the community my friend and happy new year!!!
@RetroRalph Awesome, of course I'll be happy to answer and appreciate you sending them over 😎- always appreciated! TAF that we saw in PE 2023 has received some much-needed updates, should have something later this week on it. I wish you all the best in 2024 and Happy New Year!
Great review, thank you for all the time and effort you put into this - I put a link to this video on our site as well. Looking forward to more of these reviews!
@@BitvintArcade Thanks so much man. Every now and then I get comments like this and it really means a lot. I try to put my all into the videos I produce so when someone mentions that, it feels good to know that's appreciated. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment. 🤘🏻
This pin was too crowded to try at the expo. Good to see some gameplay. I’m thinking about picking up a pin soon. In your experience, what’s the uptime like? How often are you messing with the newer pins to keep them running? Thanks for the good stuff Ralph!
My 1st machine was a stranger things Pro, I had zero issues with that machine over a 2-year period. You will need to do some basic routine maintenance. Clean and wax the playfield, Check for broken parts, rubbers and check to make sure everything is tightened down, ramps and wire ramps, stuff like that. The newer Stern machines do a good job of directing you with tech alerts where the problems are. So if you have a problem with a board, switch or optical sensor or something like that... it will at least direct you to the failing component. Also, buying through a local distributor, they typically support the warranty of the Pinball machine and will come out to address issues. It's not as cumbersome as some might make it seem. However, the sheer fact your asking is a good thing because it is a mechanical device, so things can fail. As long as you go into it with that mindset, you will be fine. Also, there are tons of resources like the Stern Enthusiast Face book group, Pinside and tons of other forums with people to help out when problems come up. Anyway, sorry for the long-winded response but I hope this helps, and I look forward to hearing what you pick up!
I've had a Foo Fighters since July with 1600+ games on it. I didn't have any 'breaking' issues so far, but I did have a bad coil stop that was making a ton of 'metal dust' inside the cabinet. Flipper still worked. Kyle from Stern's service team has been great and sent out a replacement. A couple LEDs were doing that 'half on' thing that you see LEDs do sometimes. Those are $1 fixes. On paper, the pins have only a month or 2 warranty, but I've heard hints that they extend it out closer to a year for the home users. I just had a missing screw arrive today from Stern, this far out from purchase. YMMV there though, but its in their best interest to keep home buyers happy... Like Ralph said, keeping them clean keeps them good. I had some ball trails on the ramps build up to the point where it seems that a spin was being put into the ball as it 'grabbed' the dirt on the trail. This was causing the ball to hang up in the 'S curve' that goes around to the upper flipper. A good cleaning cleared that up and it hangs up much less frequently. I have a friend with a Godzilla Pro that has just had to take the glass off to wipe down the playfield. No issues. Enjoy!
This video is awesome! 👏 Top quality edit Mason👌💯💯💯 #goals It gives a great preview about pinball and look into this game. Whether you love the game or hate it, thanks for making this Ralph! Without content like this people will never know what is truly going on in pinball. Looking forward to the next game review! ❤
Thank you so much for watching Erika , I really appreciate it! I hope you have a great new years! Maybe I will be able to meet you at Pinball Expo 2024!
I've never seen Stern give out a machine to content creatures like they have this one. The game got a ton of hate on release. It's actually very fun and not really sure what all the whining is about.
Stern actually asked me what game I wanted 1st and I chose Venom. I’m not sure if it’s selling well or not but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be, it’s a really fun game in my opinion. Anyhow, I appreciate you checking out the video!
Venom is a great game. Their loss is my gain. My premium already has 1500 plays and when It reaches "player condition" I'm going to buy an LE at heafty discount considering prices currently with the hate. Normally my favorite games are in possible to find at or below MSRP. What a steal!
This is the worst stern produced pinball machine in years. Just a completely empty playfield on the lower 3/4's of the machine. Brian eddy has really phoned this one in. This review is cringe ASF Retro Shill Ralph!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion 👍🏻 I personally really enjoy the game. Thats the beauty of these games, they’re all different, if this isn’t one you like, than there’s plenty of others to choose from. Sorry you feel this is “cringe” I’m just being myself man. 🤷🏻♂️
Most definitely everyone is entitled to there own opinion but as a very long time pin collector this is Brians laziest effort at a pin. The shots are extremely uninspired with none that are very satisfying, the pin has a low budget unfinished feel to it. Having full electronics uncovered like around the dopplerganger is tacky. Having the pops not visible feels pointless. I don't mind fan layouts at all, but this feels extreme. To the point where it feels unfinished. Glad you like it and pinball is amazing. There are just so many better pins out there. And seeing stern loan these to people something i've never seen them do before shows me its not selling well. @@RetroRalph
That was so fun to watch! I am 52 and have been playing pinball all my life.
I remember when I was little playing Space Invaders pinball, the machine was so wide for my little arms.

The table IS really challenging but it’s also really forgiving in a lot of areas. Really like playing it.
We call them tables? I never knew that.

I know nothing about comics and venom but a replica of my fav sega genesis game maximum carnage

Pretty cool
Maybe they should design some internal parts that last more than 6 months the might as well be made in China
Freaking awesome 👍👍
