How to properly care for one’s clothing in your wardrobe is almost the single most underrated thing as it related to everything in being the well dressed man. Because proper clothing is everything and to how long and well you will maintain what you so spent hard earned money on.

I tend to wash as much as I can in cold water, it helps to maintain the shape over a long period of time.
Modern washers and drying machines use heat extensively, but in my experience is not completely necessary for my everyday washing. Cold washes plus air drying can make clothing last a surprising amount of time.
    All the best,
    Finn.

I never put any of my shirts in the dryer. I hang them all up to dry in the house. Also don’t always wash my dress shirts if they aren’t stained or sweaty. Just hang them to air out. Every time you wash them they are slowly coming apart. What do you think lint in the lint trap is? It’s the fabric being worn off your garments. Also, soak new jeans in a bowl of salt water overnight then wash them. It will set the dye deeper in the fabric and they will never fade. On pants, I hang mine from the cuff upside down. Gravity then keeps them from wrinkling and cuts down in ironing.

Mastery of the iron hahaha I love ironing my shirts I could do it blindfolded now. A good steam iron and board is a must for sure!! Saphir is the only way forward too. I will be cold washing moving forward thank you.

Hello Ash, thank you for the great advice. Love your outfit, very nice. I too bought my clothes brush about 30 years ago. I do my own ironing myself, I even iron my jeans. My grandma did it for me when I was little and now I’m doing it. Grandma also got me into polishing my shoes at a young age. Well said, respect your clothes, you are absolutely right. Respect your clothes and they will last longer. Looking forward more videos. Keep them coming. Thanks Ash.

One piece of invaluable advice is "Keep away from the dry cleaners". If your clothes smell a bit musty, use cheap VODKA from a spray bottle. No, the vodka does not smell and it takes away any unwanted odors.

Vodka is also great for deodorizing training shoes, or even pre-owned shoes bought from ebay, etc. I always have a cheap bottle to hand - its the gift that keeps giving.

Invest 100/150 in a steamer. I mean the one for housekeeping. A killer item. Ban chemicals out of your home, refresh and sanitize your entire wardrobe without damaging anything.

I never dry clean my suits. I just brush and air them out.

    Cold wash
Avoid the dryer as much as possible
Avoid cheap clothes and shoes like made in China
Washable pants should be washed inside out

They say we *shouldn't* wash suits, according to the _makers of suits!_ Although we wash woolen jumpers in the washing machine! I would suggest starting with a low priced suit first, if it goes well, then one may try the higher priced suit!
After all good quality suits are made of wool. Even though they may have polyester lining and we can wash polyester in the washing machine. Please ensure the water temperature *isn't hot* prefer to be a *cold wash* for all woolens!
I found this from *Gentleman's Gazette* ruclips.net/video/7UEO_gXGghs/видео.html I hope this may be helpful, *instead of dry cleaning*

Hi Ash great video. Any recommendations on where to get good quality shoe trees that don't brake the Bank. Cheers

I generally source mine from eBay. There are many good cedar options under £20. Good luck.

I make ironing more fun by watching a film while doing it. Best are films with lots of dialogue, so I don't need to look at the screen often.

There is really no reason to ever go to the cleaners. I handwash my suits and dry them on a drying rack on their hangers. I suspect they actually get cleaner this way and they're not exposed to those chemicals. Hugo Jacomet apparently washes his suits at home as well.
