Should drive through an underwater bridge tunnel exhausts sounds sooo bada$$ 👏🏼👏🏼🔥🔥
Thank you your update on the Y pipe and the Gibson exhaust update. New Subscriber. I just purchased a White 2007 4Runner with the 4.7 V8 with 99,890 miles. I'm watching every one of your videos pertaining to your 4Runner and giving you a thumbs up on all. Please keep up the great videos. I live in The Woodland. Best.
How much did you pay I just got one as well
In the process of purchasing my own exhaust for my 05 sr5 4wd v6!!! Thanks for the video man!!!
Wish their was a link to select.
Same! I’m getting one for my 07 sport 4wd v8
Your exhaust tip is fitted too for onto the tail pipe, you need to pull it out a bit and allow it to resonate
Nice video. You were mentioning your observations with the fuel gauge and I wanted to say that at least my fuel gauge isnt linear (4th gen 4runner) I noticed the top and bottom quarter go noticeably slower than the middle two, so perhaps that is why you saw different results when traveling.
Oh crap I’m in Houston and have a runner lol. I’ve been going on RUclips just trying to get inspiration off other people and came across your channel. Really like your videos 👍🏼
Sarbelio Lara Small world lol. Thanks!
I’m literally in the same boat! Been scouring RUclips looking for inspiration on my 16 SR5 and came across this video. I’m in Humble and just recently moved from Spring
Mike Toti Oh wow, very small world lol. Well thank you very much for watching!
Man that underneath is clean here in the great white north we deal with rust
o Rebelo amen to that brother New England is harsh for my 4runner
U gotta coat the metal with the right products and u won’t have problems.
sounds nice and throaty.
I just did the magnaflow system on my 4th gen and I wish I would have just cut out the stock from the beginning. I took my time, hit the bolts with breakfree daily for a week prior to the job. Everything was going swimmingly before the last bolt in the removal process broke and forced cutting it all out.
I was putting the stock system in the trash anyway, should have just cut that shize out and saved myself at least an hour and a knuckle smash.
Hey man do you have that other stock exhaust piece for sale?? The one with the big muffler?? I need one for my 4th gen lol.
Not to far from there need buddy’s like this to help me build mine💪💯keep it up
I did this job by myself without jacking up the truck. You can do it.
Who’s that guy in the Yeezys?
But that track at 6:00 tho 👏🏽
I think the odd placement of the welds was the reason why it was on sale.
Cbizzle2590 Nah it wasn’t because of the welds. It was a sale going on for a long time lol
Just in installed this on my 07 4Runner and it sounds like a 4 wheeler now
Nice, support from PH.
DEADEYE AIRSOFT PH Thanks!
@@airsoftmechanic no problem sir.
I had a great time helping install this exhaust :) Your cold start exhaust does sound louder but no where near as loud as my cold start, i'm sure my neighbors hate me lol...
RedUnicornS550_Tx I greatly appreciate you and Christian for helping me! Unless I get headers, my exhaust won’t be as loud as yours Lolol
You should try on your next vehicle aero turbine I tried one on my diesel truck and it was pretty good even at the dealerships they were impressed at the sound was
Brother I'm also in Conroe, TX! Small world. Have a 2003 4runner and I've always wanted to do the exhaust and tailight led update. I have a set of 2 inch front spacers I haven't installed yet.
Luis Very small world! Lol
I get 18.5mpg in my 2004 4runner v6, I have 206k miles on it now
Did you keep the catalyctic converters?
I have same y-pipe and exhaust, Any thoughts on longtube headers? I somewhat want to install the jba longtubes but feel it might be obnoxiously loud but much cheaper than replacing manifolds with quality parts
David Geary It will be insanely loud if you go with long tubes...I'm all for it lol
He wanted his neighbors to see a badass 4runr in his driveway! Thas how kickass the 4runr is!
When you tried the side exhaust, did you loosen the other clamps on the front side of the axle? It will change the pitch of the pipe coming over the axle...
Damon Crownover No, I didn’t loosen anything
I don’t remember it taking me that long to install my Gibson setup and I did it by myself hehe. But I didn’t have to jack up my 4runner and I also installed the wrong head pipe at first...
I think the whole droning thing is subjective too. At least not as much as my old flow master and apexi n1.
How is the “egg smell”/ is there an “egg smell” coming out of the exhaust into the truck when pressing the gas while
the back window is down?
Yosef99 The smell is still there. It temporarily went away after I seafoamed the engine
I gotta know how you are getting such good mpg... I get 14.5 in my 4th gen v6 and I’m blown away by 22!!
Nate Thalhamer I keep a light foot, and currently my suspension, wheels and tires are stock
my little tip is to stay under 2500rpm. these aren't race cars so keep it nice n slow
Wow you guys are lucky we are only getting 12.5! And with CA gas prices it isnt cheap. And I've been trying to research performance mods on how to get better mileage.
With dougthorley headers I gained 2-2.5mpg on highway, 1.5mpg around town with stock exhaust@@owenthompson5511
I just got a 2013 limited 4runner :D I uploaded a video of it because I just got it yesterday lol. I love it so far compare to my venza which did its job for 4 yrs of ownership. I loved it but don't get me wrong the 4runner is a whole another beast. Seems the 4runner has less torque then my venza but on paper has higher. Maybe Im just imaging things but it does seem slower for some reason.
David I heard the 5th gen 4Runners were toned down a bit. I could be wrong
Welcome to Toyota’s reliable ass v6 with 5500 Lbs on top!
Airsoft Mechanic I just found out the top speed is limited to 115 which is quiet sad and I no this isn’t a race lol but thinking bout adding some performance parts because it feels sluggish. Looking at mustangs 2020 and thinking bout taking it because it’s 36k for a gt Premium
David The 4Rs are definitely underpowered. So adding some performance parts helps!
@@airsoftmechanic I was thinking bout adding this. pure4runner.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=3429
Have you tried the afe Mach force-xp? I cant seem to find a review on it
Also looking at borla and magnaflow. I wish I can take my cats of but its illegal in my state.
My next mod would probably be headers after.
I also don't know if I should remove my power steps or not and put a fixed steps as I don't need the power feature and thats more to break over time as opposed to a fixed running board.
Just a heads up if you still have those HF/pittsburgh jacks, they recalled them. Check and see if your jacks are on the list!
curnchbite51 Thanks for your concern! They’re my friend’s jacks. I checked with him and they’re not the ones that have the recall.
I’m new to exhaust systems and would appreciate if anyone could answer my question. Do I need to purchase a y pipe and this Gibson catback to make my 4Runner sound like this? Or only the Gibson catback system?
Matthias Gruber Either you add a y-pipe, Or an alternative would be to delete the secondary cats
How does the Gibson sound from the outside? I got the flow masters 50 ( from the 40 series and the drone is insanely loud. Considering switching again
Umbrace Titan It sounds great! I don’t know how it sounds by itself since I installed the y-pipe first, but with both parts combined gives it a nice sound when idling and when you’re driving
Airsoft Mechanic it sounded really good while you were driving! Is it still the same volume?
Umbrace Titan Thanks! And yes it is!
Airsoft Mechanic I just posted a video on the super 50. How would you compare it to that?
Umbrace Titan I noticed the sound on yours isn’t as throaty since it’s just the Flowmaster by itself, but it has a nice tone to it
i just bought this cat back for my 2005 but i have the V8. how much louder than the stock exhaust with the stock mid pipe?
I have a v8 as well. I just bought the black elite series single exit catback. How does yours sound on your v8 after a couple years?
Conroe yessur
Does the factory exhaust flange have a gasket and by chance would you know the part number, Thanks
Bought the same one, put it in today and its hitting cross member.
Lowcountry Adventures The only gasket it connects to is the one on the y-pipe and that one is factory for sure.
@@airsoftmechanic looks t me in your vid, that its a donut gasket. Ill try that thanks
Went from 21hwy to 23+ with S&B cold air intake. May add this.
justin plumer You may experience a drop when you first add it. It’ll make you want to step on it everywhere lol
What is the exact exhaust you got from Gibson
Ben Martin The part number is in the video
Sound > performance? Thought it was a performance exhaust!
Undead Hunter Productions I gained both
Next should be exhaust headers to get rid of those cats = straight pipe
Brody Pavlica I’m debating if I should or shouldn’t get headers
Myth.
You do not lose low end torge from less restrictions ie back pressure.
I cut off my muffler and resonator and threw on super 10 manga flow with a down pipe
Does it stick out further than the OEM exhaust tip?
No, it doesn’t
Looks like it sticks out passed the bumper. My oem exhaust doesn’t do that.
@@zachpeat5076 It’s about the same length as the OEM exhaust
Houston to Austin 1/4 tank in a 4Runner? Great mileage. This can also happen when you fuel up at a gas station with lower ethanol content.
japerezo75 I always fill up with Chevron gas, but yes the location of the gas station does mater too
Is this exhaust system stainless steel or aluminized
Paul Stoner it’s stainless steel
Thanks
How are you getting 22mpg? I have a 04 4.0 and get 15.
I do have a roof rack though. I don't that would make to big of a difference though
Blue-Ghost Roof racks can make MPGs drop because of the aerodynamic drag. Unless you’re having to use it everyday, I would suggest removing it.
As for myself, it’s a combination of performance mods, system cleaning, maintenance, and a bit of weight reduction. Also my suspension and tires are stock (for now), and I don’t floor it everywhere I go lol
@@airsoftmechanic ok 👍👌
I used to get 22.5 mpg in my stock off road premium. Now, with my 2019 TRD Pro, I'm lucky to get 18. One inch lift, Nitto Terra Grapplers, the roof rack and heavy sliders. Lots of factors can make a difference.
Dude I'm at 18.3 mpg... wtf else have you done to that thing. Of course I have a check engine P0430 code on that I've been driving on forever 😂
The Beaver A lot of system cleaners, engine mods, a bit of weight reduction, driving like a grandma, etc.
Airsoft Mechanic which mod has gotten you those most MPG gain so far?
The Beaver I would say the URD y-pipe. It made a noticeable increase in MPGs.
@@airsoftmechanic can you give specifics on what you've done? I'm getting like 15 mpg now. Its stock 130k miles.
You won’t lose low end torque, your catalytic converter is more back pressure than that engine will ever need.
I noticed the low end torque wasn’t the same after I put on the cat back exhaust. And keep in mind this is the cat back exhaust + the y-pipe combined
I floor it with 33’s lol ⛽️ #Under10MPGSquad anyone?
Keneaux what mpg are you getting on 33’s ????
I floor it with 35s with bumper sliders and roof rack and still get 13.5
@@r7lux909 bro facts me too exact same
Can someone tell me what “droning” is?
Essentially, added interior cabin “noise.” It can be experienced when one upgrades their exhaust.
“Exhaust drone is an annoying, monotone sound and vibration that occurs in some aftermarket exhaust systems. It's usually caused when the frequencies of the engine and exhaust are aligned at a certain RPM (typically 2,000-3,500 RPM).”
Henry Ranola thank you
what is droning?
Hard to describe, but droning is a sound you get usually with cheaper exhaust systems that is just a louder exhaust sound (usually at cruising speed). This sound is just sort of loud, and lacks the quality exhaust tones you like to hear from a performance exhaust system. Not considered a good attribute for an exhaust system.
Bill Blades thanks for taking the time to explain
Silver rims are ugly on the white runner lol I’d go white n black combo
VangsFishing Tell me about it...These wheels aren’t the greatest lol
State troopers watching too close!!! From his toilet.
Lol do you live in Spring?
Drew Le Not in Spring, but very close
Airsoft Mechanic I’m in spring and will be doing lots of the mods!!
It’s not a truck anymore than a body on frame suburban is. Its still an suv.
Solid rear axle, boxed frame, body on frame, 5000 lb towing, based from toyota trucks they just closed the back first with a fiberglass removable top then made it solid.
I have horrible ticking and pinging noises with this exhaust
jim 02122 That’s odd. So far I’m not having issues...
You guys ready for the 4Runner EV😂?
I just put some on they are to loud for me, everyone else likes them
I would never trade power for sound
Austin Smith good thing there’s a gas mileage and power increase then
Torque is a measure of power. Personal preference I guess. The sound is 👍, but I like that torque
Austin Smith he loses some low end torque which he won’t be using to gain power both torque and hp in the rpm range he’ll actually be using.
He’s good, now if it was the V8 and he actually towed things then it would be another issue
it’s not a huge loss of torque. maybe like 2-3 if that. you’ll make it up in the high end
Colby seems legit
