Things were built to last back then not the cheap stuff of today. I still have a vacuum cleaner from 1987. Works great!!!!
My mom also had a whole house furnace/heater in their home. It lasted 90 years. There was a on and an off button, when you got too hot you turned if off, and so on. Can you imagine a furnace lasting 90 years today?
The hide away ironing board is still a thing. I love mine.
