I've noticed in most of your videos that the back of your neck gets sunburnt. Really red. I know I'm not your Mum, but please be sure to use sunscreen and get a legionnaires hat to protect your neck. We would all hate you to have to get skin cancers cut out as you get older. Love your stuff. Say safe ❤
I wouldn't recommend anybody do this sort of work unless they know what they're doing because they can cause more damage to the stones. You seem to be a true pro and the fact that you're willing to use your knowledge and skill is very touching and appreciated. Thank you.
People - if you are watching, DON’T FORGET to give this post a Thumbs Up. Wade - not only are you remembering the deceased and ensuring that these markers are restored, but you are also preserving the art and craftsmanship that went into grave markers in the 19th century. No laser cutters back then. All the beautiful fonts and illustrations were carved and chiseled by hand. You are preserving history AND Art for future generations. Bless you for doing what you do. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Ok. I've posted on another of your video's..but. I'm very torn. I've cleaned stones on neglected cemeteries as a cub scout. I honor those willing to make sure those have gone before us are not forgotten. But. As i get older, i know what is in my future. Yeah. I'm scared to death of dying. Thank you for doing what you can to honor our past
I am a Special Education teacher and LOVE it….most people cringe at the thought of the paperwork and so-called bad kids but I would do it for free. You do wonderful work and hard work that I can tell you love and do for free! Your interest and enthusiasm is contagious. Everybody has a calling and task that they find fulfilling. Please stay encouraged!!!
It's fascinating to see the old stones and the names and script styles from so long ago. Most of those names probably haven't been remembered/spoken for generations now, the markers are that old. I was very happy you were able to get a plot map to hopefully help with placement and names in the previous video. Looking forward to the next installment - thanks!
The babies always get me. I had a difficult delivery. Had I had my daughter 100 years ago, at least one of us, if not both would have died in childbirth.
Just mowing the grass and leaving the clippings for 100 years will raise the grade. Fallen leaves as well. So our modern attempts to make it neat can be burying the markers.
@@earnstgenmar13 I think what the mean is though they maintain the property today by mowing and such, they still leave the debris. This along with time is definitely going to bury these markers.
I can’t wait till you get these done. I love that you’re putting this back together. Wish you had more help. It’s got to be hard to dig them up. But thank you for helping them be renamed.
I recognize you are probably overwhelmed with requests, but..I just watched a recent video by YT's 'Mobile Instinct' where he explores a BEAUTIFUL hidden graveyard in New Jersey; where there is a community "trying" to bring it back to former glory. I think it would be a brilliant collaboration. The video is entitled 'The Forest of Graves with an Omnious Past'. I guess I could have attached it, oh well!
Just wondering if Ground Penetrating Radar could help locate graves? Have you ever utilized that technology in your work? During my genealogy research, I found newspaper articles describing where 2 of my ancestors are buried. I have been to the family cemetery and found some of my ancestors, but the two i'm looking for are apparently missing headstones. I will try probing first, but if the headstones are missing, I was thinking of hiring a company that does GPR to help locate the actual graves. Hopefully I can find them.
Your work is truly inspiring. I'm sure you're aware of it but be cautious..... several instances of diseases we considered gone get accidentally revived this way. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you for doing the repairs on these Tomb 😊stones. My question is do you have to get permission to do this from the cemetery or the family and have you ever met Andy of the family members. You do a wonderful job.
So, question, can you drill into base and stone and insert a piece of rebar to give strength? And the ones broken in 3 can you make some kind of steel u that holds both sides so you can re stack them?
I am a cemetery caretaker in Western New York undergoing a continuous Restoration project. I have a question about your Geo grid if you order it online or where to get it thanks.
Is there any way of knowing where the actual graves were (or are) located? PS get yourself a "boonie" hat with all-round your head brim. Thank you for all you do.
If I would have had my last baby even 50 years ago I would’ve had died..after delivering my son I severely hemorrhaged and I almost died then and that was in 2000😢
I find it sad how many times a child's short lifespan corresponds to the death date of their mother. People don't really get how dangerous pregnancy and childbirth was to a woman not so long ago.
@59tante One complication is all it took. It was up to the husband to decide to save the baby or mother. That's when a C-section would happen without anesthesia.

I was going to say the same thing! I didn’t know they had a name, tho’, for some reason I always think of them as Aussie hats…wrongly of course! 😅
I agree!
His arms too! Some long, loose-fitting sleeves would be helpful there too, of a tightweave linen.
Legionnaires hats work great!
Are you talking about a sunhat with flaps at the back? Legionnaires is what you can get from mulch/top soil

I can't wait for the next episode. The restorations, the stories behind the people.
Love that you care for the dead. Keep up the good work 👏 😊
You're making headway, Wade. Such hard work! But you're already making such a difference. ❤

I'm really loving this series. It reminds me a bit of a treasure hunt. Your hardwork will not go unnoticed.
The babies always get me. I had a difficult delivery. Had I had my daughter 100 years ago, at least one of us, if not both would have died in childbirth.
I am so impressed by your level of commitment to this work. Thank you.
This may be weird, but watching you do this makes me teary. Thank you for your work.
Yes! He is a blessing! 🙏🏼
It's not weird and you're not alone. 😊
Just mowing the grass and leaving the clippings for 100 years will raise the grade. Fallen leaves as well. So our modern attempts to make it neat can be burying the markers.
Can you elaborate on this please ? I don't understand. Thanks.

Thank you so much for caring about these who can't speak for them selves
Thank you so much for what you are doing. I love this. Next time I'm in Des Moines I'm looking for this cemetery!
I don't know why I find your videos so entertaining, but I do.

Awesome job! Looks like you found where you are going to spend the rest of your career. Thanks for your hard work!
Fantastic job as always.
I would really like to see an after video. I see the hunting and digging but I see only the mess that's left behind. Could you post the after, please.
You should be “Millennial Stone Restorer”!! 😊❤
Thank you for doing the repairs on these Tomb 😊stones. My question is do you have to get permission to do this from the cemetery or the family and have you ever met Andy of the family members. You do a wonderful job.
Very interesting and engaging! Keep up the good work and keep the updates coming!!
So inspiring ❤.. awesome work you do. ❤ Ur videos and conservative preservation to the memories of people before us. Thank you...
So, question, can you drill into base and stone and insert a piece of rebar to give strength? And the ones broken in 3 can you make some kind of steel u that holds both sides so you can re stack them?
I find a square edge spade works better in grass and it can be sharpened with a file.
This is fascinating.
pretty sure it's not abandoned those people aren't going anywhere ;) great video loved it and liked and subscribed.
Has anyone wanted to help you with ground penetrating radar? I could ruins recovery being a great use for that technology.
Hi I am a longtime listener, I am thinking that framing headstones and welding a frame them is an option.
I have a question for you. My parents headstone is brass. Is there a good way to clean it to keep the tarnish away for as long as I can.
You are tall like me, you could use a long handled shovel and a long handled spade to make your job easier
Do you know anyone from the lower New England area who provides this service?
You said the graves were once where the road is now. What about where the houses are? Did they build over the cemetery?
I am a cemetery caretaker in Western New York undergoing a continuous Restoration project. I have a question about your Geo grid if you order it online or where to get it thanks.
Can you explain what makes a cemetary "abandoned"?
Do you ever enlist others to help with digging, etc.? I am amazed by you and your caring for real people and their histories!
Thank you so much! Generally no. I have some friends and other creators you’ve seen on the channel but for the most part it is a solo endeavor.
I’m attempting to restore some stones in my local cemeteries and the cleaner I found on Amazon is pretty expensive. What does everyone recommend?
Is there any way of knowing where the actual graves were (or are) located?
PS get yourself a "boonie" hat with all-round your head brim. Thank you for all you do.
Earned grace.
what's a keyway
Amazing
S**t, looks like I’m gonna need a van.
What's a key way?
Keyway is a stone that serves as the base of these tablets. It has a narrow slot the the tablet fits in to.
What is a keeway, please? I’m not sure I’m spelling it right. You keep referring to them.
So, about your back…❤😮❤
If I would have had my last baby even 50 years ago I would’ve had died..after delivering my son I severely hemorrhaged and I almost died then and that was in 2000😢

One complication.and that's it. Especially c sections

Elizabeth J. *Wife of* Str.....
Please be careful of your back!
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO FOR OTHERS!! 🪷 ✌🏻
