@Cyrus McWind Unfortunately, malls (indoor & outdoor/strip) are becoming that way. The ONLY way I could see keeping malls alive (in the short term) is having all the major and mid-major stores to downsize the current store sizes to being big enough for online order pickups & a kiosk machine (with free shipping for ordering right then & there).

magusxxx Hot Topic has kind of morphed into a pop culture store and isn’t really goth anymore- to the point where they own another franchise called Box Lunch that is just entirely Disney, anime, Nickelodeon, that kind of stuff.
I like Disney a lot and I own a bunch of their games (the entire KH series, Ducktales Remastered, Epic Mickey 1&2) and I’m surprised they don’t have more success with games. Creative, expansive worlds with a lot of heart are what they do best. That should translate to games as well.

I actually have fond memories of the Epic Mickey franchise. I love the first game, the entire concept, the narrative, Oswald was both adorable and compelling and the second game ...exists. It’s a pity that behind the scenes, the franchise was unlucky from the start. Of all the games that deserve a remake, I think the first Epic Mickey absolutely deserves a chance (with improved controls).

For me, what really stopped me from buying it was the missed opportunity of the gameplay. The paint and thinner mechanic I thought was going to be something where players could choose to be destructive or creative, which is actually a really brilliant idea, but... We didn't really get that. Or at least the version that I thought we were going to get. I was picturing Mickey being able to summon objects at will with paint or destroy things with thinner, but instead, all we got was a terrain fill-in/removal tool.

For an odd change of pace, I actually kind of respect that little "screw Metacritic, I think we made a good game and I'm happy with it" tirade. It exudes a genuine passion for the project, especially as compared to say, I don't know, Randy Pitchford and his limp-wristed insistence that Aliens: Colonial Marines was a good game simply out of his long-standing inability to accept culpability. A difference of "I think the game is good" versus "YOU should think the game is good", if you will.

I know this isn't the fun "Disney traded Al Michaels for Oswald the Rabbit" story, but Michaels was looking to get out of his ABC contract because he didn't want to do Monday Night Football on ESPN instead of broadcast ABC and wanted to join his former partner Madden (you know, that guy) at NBC for Sunday Night. Iger correctly saw an opportunity to get the rights for something he badly wanted to revive and knew it would be an easy throw in for this blockbuster deal - as Oswald was practically worthless to Universal.
Disney has since included Oswald in their historic and retro ventures, so its better than him rotting away useless at Universal. It also ties up a bit of a loose end that one the most iconic character of all time is basically a rights dodge knockoff of work done for another company and used to for your own startup.
Maybe they should buy The Shield from Archie Comics next... just to be sure.

Yet I do hope somewhere in the near future will have a remaster of both games on a pack for all systems in a nice polish and fixed problems it has before. There was a part you missed about the disasterous release of Epic Mickey 2 that I figured I should throw out:
A ton of it had to be reworked. And I don't mean the camera/voice stuff. A lot of the praise people gave the original was for how detailed and layered the story was in regards to both character personalities and the history of Disney animation, and the sequel was going to do that, ending in the return of The Blot, a battle in Toontown from Roger Rabbit, and Oswald getting his own heart and having a choice to leave and be loved because of... well, the fans... or stay and keep the world safe.
Unfortunately, someone leaked the plot, and turned it into the cliched mess we got today, killing the franchise and Junction Point.

I actually did an essay on Oswald for copyright. Disney drew and created Oswald, yes. This was actually before he was THE disney, with just the theme parks in MIND still. He had designed Oswald to be the first Mickey, in a sense, to carry him to fame. To have this design as like THE face of Disney's future, like mickey mouse.
What happened was Disney, being super inexperienced, basically lost the rights to Oswald, stolen right under him. This was all accidental from the beginning. He went to companies that would say "yes!" to making Oswald kinda a big deal. Walt, having no lawyers or show running experience, SIGNED a contract and just agreed to hand over Oswald. Thinking that basically a show and mascot was going to be made of his original character, and he'd sit back and enjoy the cash flow. Well, at the time the corporation that he SIGNED too went "oh? you don't have any lawyers? and like...we have your consent AND drawings and design...This is ours now"
They literally ROBBED him of any fortune and fame OVER oswald PERMANENTLY. Disney, obviously furious AND betrayed, legally or not. Could NOT obtain Oswald as the corporation had done everything to blindside him and legally lock Oswald as theirs. They had stolen his first and only design of walts current work and legacy.
Walt Disney HURRIES back to his wife, and with a lesson learned, asks what character he should name the next one? She says "Mickey".

The concept art definitely had me expecting something like...Breath of the Wild, but everything's Guardian-level terrifying and if you screw up then beloved characters die forever. I thought we'd see these familiar characters deal with panic, spite, selfishness, and mourning -- and possibly have a commentary on what happens when you slap a friendly face and a pair of mouse ears on a machine that's begging for death.
The fact that it ended up being a pretty normal platformer was a bit disappointing.

There were fundamental problems with the creative design of Epic Mickey, we were promised a game that would focus on the forgotten parts of Disney canon, instead we got Peter Pan and Tron. And while the premise for a Forgotten World is excellent, it was mishandled. I love Pete, but he shouldn't have been in the game, he's not forgotten. The explanation that "Oh, there are like 30 different Petes because they are all from differ shorts that individually got forgotten just doesn't make sense because it begs the question of why there isn't dozens of forgotten Mickeys, Donalds, Goofys, etc then" but they just really wanted to play with that Mickey/Pete rivalry, which creatively is an example of lack of discipline. The game had SO much potential but it squandered it.
