Then everyone used to take care of each other and the whole neighbourhood was like one family - Now we do not even know who lives next door and our children care about their privacy more than their parents and siblings - We have downgraded from a selfless to an extremely selfish world in less than fourty years.
My uncle recently passed on the 11th august, apparently this is going to be played at his funeral he was 89.😅 that was my uncle I guess, always had a sense of humour 😅😅😅

Boys and girls play ring games in many parts of the world, especially during their pre-teen years. In There's a Brown Girl in the Ring, an anthology of Eastern Caribbean song games by Alan Lomax, J.D. Elder and Bess Lomax Hawes, it is suggested that ring games are a children's precursor to adult courtship.
Players form a ring by holding hands, then one girl or boy goes into the middle of the ring and starts skipping or walking around to the song. The girl or boy is then asked, "Show me your motion". At this point the child in the center does his or her favorite dance. If asked "Show me your partner", he or she picks a friend to join him or her in the circle. It has been played for many centuries in all of Jamaica.
In the song it is talking about The Bahamas because the foods in the song are Bahamian cuisines and the game is played in The Bahamas, like in other Caribbean countries.

I'm in the 50's of my age now and still fond of it. the best years of my life despite the young girl I was. Pelo que percebi nos comentários, os anos 80 foram maravilhosos praticamente no mundo inteiro. Aqui no Brasil também foram inesquecíveis. Tenho 57 anos, entrei pra faculdade de pedagogia aos 53, vou me formar no final desse ano e minha festa de formatura será só com os singles dos anos 80. tenho certeza que será maravilhosa 🙏
