Robert: I know you are in Australia, but in an Electronic World you might as well be next store.....Also a "Great design" is Universal ! As a Professor of Advanced Composite in Marine Construction I would very much wish to Participate in assisting in the design/ build of such a Catamaran. Additionally , I would want to become a owner of such a build. I would add that I would contribute information about a substitute underwater Appendage to replace keels, centerboards, & centerboards.....its called SCABBOARDS and they take up only 30% more volume than Daggerboard
trunk yet provide the same preformance to windward but with the safety of a centerboard .

I have been interested in buying a small catamaran that may be within my pocket ... and I would like to ask you a question, do you think one can find something good for $ 20,000 dollars .... (I know that my budget is very low) ... I would like to know your opinion about life inside the catamaran, how it develops, is it comfortable?
Good price here would be 35. +/- 5k
Define "good". For 20k you would usually (there are exceptions, of course) get something under 30ft, like a Catalac 8m. But you should not just look at the boat size, also check how old the sails are and their condition. How old is the (standing) rigging? You may be able to do a lot of repairs for cheap, but if you need to replace any major component, that will significantly increase your cost.
Anyone know what the value or sales price for this vessel was? I have one I am tidying up at the moment. Great little cat!
No, but if it sold here in Australia, then it would have been approximately 3-5 times what it was worth anywhere else in the world. lol. So, for a little cat like this, they are quite popular in the UK. Check prices there, convert to $AUD and x4

@@jacksbackable if I could get a copy of the plans .. I could make a few changes so it would be better sailing and a higher bridgedeck clearance. I have enough drafting experience to make these changes

@@normancook4620 I and partner have some plans for a similar craft; same length but higher Bridgedeck clearance - 600 - 650mm depending on the kit out. It's a self build but anyway we are in Australia.
how bad does it slam in seas above 6'?
The bridgedeck clearance is so low it will slam in 8 inch waves much less 6 foot
