I've had a theory for a while now that Anne will ultimately stay behind to destroy the Calamity Box, should it have to be destroyed. There's been at least a few moments throughout the show that could be foreshadowing this outcome, and if Hop Pop were to die in the finale then her staying to take care of Sprig and Polly could be another one. Though that said, in a recent interview Matt said that the goal in the end has been to bring all three girls home, so Anne or any of them staying behind is unlikely. I do feel though that the finale won't be as straightforward as them using their Calamity powers to save Marcy, defeat Andrias and the Core, and return home. Something(s) going to happen that challenges them and makes them have to improvise somehow, which could result in the Calamity Box having to be destroyed.
@@kajkage-dc9yc I appreciate how capable and resourceful they are in trying times but they’re still just children. They need an adult in their lives to steer them in the right direction and Hop Pop definitely won’t be around to see them in their adult years.
Interesting fact: They chose Dipper's voice actor to voice Barrel. So in some sense, both Dipper and Mabel did appear in Amphibia (that is it felt like they did).
What if it was a double-edged prophecy? Andrias and his friends were the original bearers of the stones who acted similarly to Anne and her group. Andrias would end up "falling" alongside the two when the Calamity Box was stolen once he decided to continue his multiversal conquest. So once the box was taken, the stones went dormant and waited thousands of years to endow the next bearers.
I've always felt that the original Calamity Trio's colors represented the opposite of what people think. Instead of being what they are, the colors are what they lack. The frog mightve lacked physical strength (pink/red), being the smallest. Barrel might not have been the smartest (green). Andrias' actions show how he is lacking heart (blue). Something I think supports this is how both the frog and Barrel leave Andreas when he might be becoming tyrannical. Neither of them are blue, but Barrel loses his weapon, the warhammer, to defend a village from a monster.
There has been so many death flags for Hop Pop that it's become a joke at this point. The stuff happening with his bones this episode is a goos example. I honestly don't think he will die since there are so many to the point it seems like the writers are playing a joke on us.

@@shivangparikh2933 In the diagram King Andrias showed in the book about the Calamity Box, it showed Amphibia surrounded by five different worlds, and all of them were connected to Amphibia except for Earth, whose connection was severed (or never made). I feel obligated to point out, since nobody else seems to, that Anne isn’t at full power. Even when she activates her calamity powers, it’s not the strongest she can be. Remember, she only drained half of the crystal. Meaning she has only half still inside her. Which inadvertently means that Sasha and Marcy (though I don’t see the latter activating her powers anytime soon anyway) won’t have as much, if at all, power that’s anne has. And that’s only half! Interesting and cool vid. It’s interesting how you didn’t mention Anne saying that she doesn’t have full control with her powers or something like that when talking or replying to Mother Olm. I’m still a bit curious if that pink frog is Spring’s mother. I don’t have a favorite between these two episodes because I liked and enjoyed both of them.
I liked that Beatrix's eye glowed like Grime's when she got headbutt. You can actually see that at 10:34. Guess it's just a family trait and Grime just got one too many head injuries? Ah, the little details...
Fun fact: the monster holding a yellow flame is amphibia's greed and corruption (matt replied to a comment on Twitter confirming) Edit: hey this guy talks about it in the video!
idk if you brought this up in an earlier breakdown, but i think Lysil and Angwin being stuck together is a reference to the axolotls extreme regenerative capabilities (even though there olms). in one instance, an axolotl was cut in half and grafted onto another axolotl, and both axolotls survived and became one two headed axolotl. freaky shit being referenced in a Disney show, even for amphibia.
Can we talk about how pretty & beautiful Sasha looked in her cheerleading outfit? I'll say, that might be one of my favorite Sasha Waybright moments so far!
Spoiler Alert: My thought on the Mother of Olms: I find it interesting that they are still using the trailer of when the Plantars and Anne got sent back to Earth. When the mean Olm guard said that Hop Pop was going to kill everyone one day because of him being old. My first thought is that I hope that that isn’t foreshadowing. They didn’t tell her that the guy who made the cream was dead. They cream expired 70 years and Anne face paining hear self which made it funnier. I liked that when they were sinking into green goo in Mother Olm’s nose; that Polly, Anne, and Sasha all told Spring not to say what it was; that made it a little bit funny. Poor Sasha for this whole adventure and the end of this episode which was kind of funny. Sasha when she asks if that is Jasemine tea. I’m like I hope that isn’t the same one that Hop Pop was talking a bath in to relax his joints. Three stars bringing bright come to expel the night. I like how Sasha is excited to get Anime powers like Anne. When Sasha mentions Marcy it’s a little bit said because they don’t know that Marcy has been taken over by the core. It’s interesting how Mother Olms knows what Anime is and that’s funny. When Anne remarks that she can’t controls her powers; what about when she opened the portal back to Amphibia from earth; she wasn’t mad; she was happy. Also when she got through the portal she wasn’t drained. The Olms think that the calamity trio were summoned to save us from the thing we have become the worst versions of ourselves. Hmmm; I wonder what that could mean; maybe the core turns creatures and Amphibians into the worst versions of themselves or something like that. When I heard that Anne can give the power to her friends; that’s awesome and cool. Then a little bit later I realized Anne may have to use her powers to free Marcy from being Darcy. My thoughts on Grime’s Pupil: Man; Sasha didn’t know about Sprig and Grime’s bad history. Sasha knows how to draw emojis and used them for her signature; that’s funny, and cool. Hybeena’s that’s and interesting name and creature and they can sting more than once and not die; interesting. I’m glad that Grim and Spring were impressed by each other’s moves and helped each other in the end. Grim’s real name is Grimathy; interesting. I like that Sasha did her school cheerleading and cheer; I agree with what Hop Pop said. I’m glad that the Toad army is working with the rebellion now. It’s interesting that Sasha was surprised by that. I like the ending of the episode; it was a little bit funny what Grim did to his sister and what she did back to him for payback. I know it is a lot of information.
I wonder if we’re gonna see Anne’s blue sword ever again or if it was just a one time thing. Nothing wrong with either way, just it seemed important when it showed up. Plus, barrel’s warhammer appears to be correlated with Sasha’s pink calamity powers, maybe that blue sword is Anne’s version of that? I wonder if Marcy has maybe a green crossbow or something?
In my opinion just because we have seen the prophecy earlier doesn’t mean that it would be a bad episode, the characters have to learn of the prophecy one way or another and this was a fun way I’m my opinion. Also it gives us more context to the prophecy, and foreshadows that Anne can use the calamity powers to recharge Sasha and Marcy so I think this is a success, but it was a bit underwhelming, I was hoping for something different
I've been thinking on a whole level of crazy theories Marcanne-Theory A new "Trinity" Theory And now this Saturday... I'll see if my theory on Andrias' background is true.
According to me: These kind of episodes: - "Fantastic Voyage" Plots - Feud Episodes - Shrink Episodes - Body Swaps (Freaky Friday Flip) - Episodes where a character is turned into something. - Episodes where a character is mind controlled. Must only happen during the early parts of the show, you know, filler part. Because doing them later is: out of tone and nonsensical. Specially if they're story driven shows.
i disagree gravity falls still had “filler” in the later seasons (ex. the dnd episode) a little bit of nonsense can develop characters and give the plot room to breathe, regardless of where it is in the season
10:38 While i originally did believe the colour coordination of the original trio, there's 2 things that show Barrel & the Pink Frog are the opposite ones the leaf on the pink frog glows green and barrel's warhammer is obviously powered by his calamity stone and it lights up pink
I wonder what happened to the other toad lords, cause let's be honest one of them seems to be somewhat immortal, while the other one is definitely giving me the Samurai vibes after having a look at him more than once.
Now that i think about it, maybe The Hardest thing could be related to Hop Pop's death, since it's been getting brought up throughout the entire series
notice how the stone at 5:37 the blue one has the moon The pink one has the sun while the green is unknown the only possible thing I can see the green stone being is a star to fit the tarot trio of the sun, moon, and the star or maybe Im thinking too deep into this
"I feel like the Journey to mother olm's brain might be that one frustrating level that people still talk about to this day." Me: *Meat circus theme plays*
I pets enjoyed Grim's Pupil more because not only have two realize that they work better as frog and toad meaning this two species can live in peace and as equals after the war and Season Finale
Personally enjoyed Grime’s Pupil more than Mother of Olms, I did find the scene of the prophecy cool though the gross out humor kind of ruined it a little for me. Grime and Sprigg dynamic was great to explore and the action was nicely executed. Also loved Sasha’s cheerleader outfit and how long she’s let her hair grow by now.
I feel like we should have seen anne light up her powers and try to restore sasha's powers but fail. And that can set up a part of the main story where anne can truly master her powers.
Anne claims she can't control her powers, yet in Escape to Amphibia, she was able to use them widen the portal and perfectly cut Hop Pop's avocado. It's like, which is it?
6:19 That’s…a weird time to get metaphorical with a picture that CLEARLY shows a giant frog monster antagonist….also they show’d its skull in Huppop’s book, so what the heck even??
Every time I see those fan arts I wish I could be a kid again and watching this show because they are the ones fully enjoying it and it reminds me of my childhood with gravity Falls and I just really hope amphibia can become a fan favorite for decades like gravity Falls
I always had doubts that the mother of olms could have a whole episode dedicated to them; and tbh the gross out ‘humor’ just made that episode uncomfortable - it was good to get a focus on hoppop, tho I think it could have been done in a better way perhaps. Grime’s pupil tho is genuinely one of my fave episodes for exploring Grime and Sprig and their dynamic which was never explicitly touched on before. I really love just sooo much of the action, humor and Grime in the episode, as well as setting up the war to come
Ok in the mural at the end of the episode before Mother of Olms Anne is shown wearing much bigger armor than she has now. Maybe a power is armoring up herself and her friends?

It's actually amphibia's greed and corruption
Just an idea I had, Grim and his sister might have lost their eyes to each other, or from something their fighting annoyed, like the bees
4:48 Sasha;"I fought beasts, soldiers, robots. I survived falls and fatal attacks, and in the end I'm going to die like this? Drowned in mucus from an old olm?"
Amphibia is getting more and more video game like
Fun fact: the monster holding a yellow flame is amphibia's greed and corruption (matt replied to a comment on Twitter confirming)
Edit: hey this guy talks about it in the video!
idk if you brought this up in an earlier breakdown, but i think Lysil and Angwin being stuck together is a reference to the axolotls extreme regenerative capabilities (even though there olms). in one instance, an axolotl was cut in half and grafted onto another axolotl, and both axolotls survived and became one two headed axolotl. freaky shit being referenced in a Disney show, even for amphibia.
Can we talk about how pretty & beautiful Sasha looked in her cheerleading outfit? I'll say, that might be one of my favorite Sasha Waybright moments so far!
Spoiler Alert:
My thought on the Mother of Olms: I find it interesting that they are still using the trailer of when the Plantars and Anne got sent back to Earth.
I've been saying it for awhile Anne is a SSGSS and she's gonna make Sasha a Super Saiyan God through the ritual.
I am surprised they got Whoopi "Sister Act" /Gia from "Captain Planet" Goldberg to voice Mother Olm in this! AMAZING!
The mother of olms is a funny character
I appreciate these in depth episode analysis videos!
Through both of these episodes I luv Sasha's contribution love it so much hilarious of what grimes does
If Sasha had invaded Newtopia city with Beatrix, she could have conquered it?
In my opinion just because we have seen the prophecy earlier doesn’t mean that it would be a bad episode, the characters have to learn of the prophecy one way or another and this was a fun way I’m my opinion. Also it gives us more context to the prophecy, and foreshadows that Anne can use the calamity powers to recharge Sasha and Marcy so I think this is a success, but it was a bit underwhelming, I was hoping for something different
I've been thinking on a whole level of crazy theories
Marcanne-Theory
A new "Trinity" Theory
And now this Saturday...
I'll see if my theory on Andrias' background is true.
According to me:
These kind of episodes:
- "Fantastic Voyage" Plots
- Feud Episodes
- Shrink Episodes
- Body Swaps (Freaky Friday Flip)
- Episodes where a character is turned into something.
- Episodes where a character is mind controlled.
Must only happen during the early parts of the show, you know, filler part. Because doing them later is: out of tone and nonsensical. Specially if they're story driven shows.
i disagree
gravity falls still had “filler” in the later seasons (ex. the dnd episode)
a little bit of nonsense can develop characters and give the plot room to breathe, regardless of where it is in the season
I really enjoy watching these episodes
10:38 While i originally did believe the colour coordination of the original trio, there's 2 things that show Barrel & the Pink Frog are the opposite ones
the leaf on the pink frog glows green and barrel's warhammer is obviously powered by his calamity stone and it lights up pink
After watching each episode I come here to watch your take on it. Great video's!!
I loved both episodes
I wonder what happened to the other toad lords, cause let's be honest one of them seems to be somewhat immortal, while the other one is definitely giving me the Samurai vibes after having a look at him more than once.
6:41 Oh Hey I Made It To The Fan Spotlight.
Anyone else realize this video is the same length of an amphibia episode
7:22 my fav
Idk why, but I just love how mother olm doesn’t even question what anime is and just goes along with it
Japanese cartoons.
Yea Ik, but what if mother olm doesn’t?
I love your vids (mainly tho and amphipma
both episode are nice but i loved the expressions that grime showed
Mother of Olms was my definite fave. I always love a lore episode.
"⚔️😘💅"
- Sasha
Now that i think about it, maybe The Hardest thing could be related to Hop Pop's death, since it's been getting brought up throughout the entire series
Oh hell yeah my fanart ended up in a video!
I'm really loving this "Amphibia Fan Spotlight Week".
Spring's fight is a reference to the Spiderma Man's fight in the cage from the 1st movie?
notice how the stone at 5:37
the blue one has the moon
The pink one has the sun
while the green is unknown
the only possible thing I can see the green stone being is a star to fit the tarot trio of the sun, moon, and the star
or maybe Im thinking too deep into this
3:49 wait Barrel, the small pink frog and andrias were the original calamity trio?
"I feel like the Journey to mother olm's brain might be that one frustrating level that people still talk about to this day."
Me: *Meat circus theme plays*
Whoopi Goldberg did a great job voicing mother olms
I pets enjoyed Grim's Pupil more because not only have two realize that they work better as frog and toad meaning this two species can live in peace and as equals after the war and Season Finale
Grime: I know this undermines the whole lesson but, BEATRICE LOST TO A FROOG, BEATRICE LOST TO A FROOG!
The shoulder pad also makes me think of the toads from Bucky O Hair.
Anne being able to use her powers in that way reminds me of sonic 06 when sonic did that with silver and shadow at the end
I love the reference to Kingdom Hearts in this video
Where ?
@@edizicu9853 4:50
I feel like we should have seen anne light up her powers and try to restore sasha's powers but fail. And that can set up a part of the main story where anne can truly master her powers.
Anne claims she can't control her powers, yet in Escape to Amphibia, she was able to use them widen the portal and perfectly cut Hop Pop's avocado. It's like, which is it?
7:32 I always thought Calamity Stone same Infinity Stone
0:27 Because you enjoy every episode no matter the quality of the writing.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you be critics of this show ever. XD
I can't believe you didn't even mention that Sasha's signature is "⚔️😘💅"
I always had doubts that the mother of olms could have a whole episode dedicated to them; and tbh the gross out ‘humor’ just made that episode uncomfortable - it was good to get a focus on hoppop, tho I think it could have been done in a better way perhaps.
Grime’s pupil tho is genuinely one of my fave episodes for exploring Grime and Sprig and their dynamic which was never explicitly touched on before. I really love just sooo much of the action, humor and Grime in the episode, as well as setting up the war to come
When Sasha did the cheer thing I literally said “what a lesbian” out loud
In the spotlight the first one was one of the best I have seen
Ok in the mural at the end of the episode before Mother of Olms Anne is shown wearing much bigger armor than she has now. Maybe a power is armoring up herself and her friends?
I felt so bad for Sasha in mother of olm's
Great use of the castle theme from link to the past byw
Can’t tell you why but the way he said Hyena-bees so casually was just so funny
