    Nice Cherry slabs in the background! Thank you for info on your upgrades to your 690. They are great bikes and you will have a great time at Moab if you haven't already been there

    Great setup. Love that rack. The Motoz Rallz Rear and a Mitas C17 front is a great off-road combo. Thanks for sharing!

      Its simple. on KTM 690 you replace almost everything and then its a great bike. Sad but true. slave cylinder/tank bolts/ front fairing bolts to zip ties/ break lever, footpegs, fuel cap, seat, non stop connector issues, faulty clutch from factory mod - the list goes on.

    I really like the rear rack. I have the touratech on my 690 but it’s too small. I have done a few of the same mods. I did get the yoshimura r77 for mine 😝 I did a twin air foam filter, Rottweiler fueling dongle and the lower temp sensor and it’s been great. Also did the wider pegs and a Scott’s damper with the BRP rubber mounted risers which is absolutely awesome for higher speeds on the road. I agree with you on the Nelson Riggs bags. I also have the tail bag that goes with the saddle’s. Couldn’t be happier with them. T. rex crash bars are nice also. They really help if you lay the bike down off-road. I was thinking about trying the motoz gps tires as my next set but since you speak highly of the rallz maybe I will give them a shot first considering they are a little more off-road bias than the gps. Great review 👍

      Thanks! Sounds like your 690 is set up even nicer. As for the tires, I think the RallZ will be a lot more aggressive than the GPS's. It might add a lot of vibration on the road though, so just be aware. But if you want to ride more offroad then they're absolute beasts. I was honestly quite surprised how well the TKC80s did on my trip to Moab though.

    Oh man 6.6 ft i feel you. Iam almost 6.4 and its pain in the aas riding it with stock footpegs. Its not wide at all for my 13 size mx boot, standing for long time is terrible but biggest trouble on MX track that you cant properly hug the bike with knees while standing becuase its 2 high. Also need handle lift like you said without hydro clutch cable being too tight!

    MotoZ Desert HT’s is probably what you want. I spent over $4,000 to get my bike dialed in but that includes the suspension.

    • @doomermotorsports
      @doomermotorsports  2 года назад

      I've had friends recommend the Desert HT's as well. I put RallZ's on my 450L and I'm thinking of sticking with those for the 690. They worked great offroad on the 450 and aren't as gnarly on road as the Desert HT's appear to be. I think they'll suit my riding style well.

      My TKC80’s have lasted about 2000 miles, I can feel the rear is starting to slip on tight turns and sweeping corners. The Michelin Anakee wild is what I’ve been thinking about getting, however the Motoz Desert HT’s are supposed to be a great option like you mentioned. I’ve got Riggs bags, Vanasche fuel filler and skid plate, Rottweiler clutch master slave upgrade, risers, SC seat (comfort model), Wings slip on and this month I’m adding the Dual5 headlight. Great bikes. Stay safe

      @@Rakkasan-vr8xt I just did a 6,000 mile trip to the Arctic Ocean and back. I used a MotoZ Adventure rear and MotoZ Rallz front. The Rallz did ok but the on road handling was bad on uneven pavement and steel grate bridges and it wore out before the rear. I replaced the Rallz with a Pirelli MT 21 which is much better in all regards. I’m going to install a Britannia Lynx fairing next.

    Nicely set up bike and good move on the fan switch. The stock switch is set way too high for bikes that will see actual off road use.

    hey good video , im thinging of getting a 690 , question , how do find the seat ? . and how do you find the weight of the bike ? cheers steve/Australia

    • @doomermotorsports
      @doomermotorsports  Год назад

      The seat is decent, but can start to get uncomfortable on an all/multiple day trip. I'm thinking of getting a Seat Concepts for next riding season.
      The weight is no problem at all for me. At 340lbs wet, it's no 500exc, but it's a lot better than an adventure bike. I'll admit it can feel a little top heavy at times, but I'm also a big and tall guy, so it might just be me.

    here in UK can only get the new 2022 versions and yes expensive so may go for the smaller 390 ADv what are your thoughts, just been catching up on your channel great content

    • @doomermotorsports
      @doomermotorsports  Год назад

      Thanks! As for my thoughts on the 390, I'm not really a fan. It seems really limited in capability when it comes to offroading. Personally, I would go for a DRZ400, DR650, CR650L, or even a WR250 or CRF300L before I'd ever consider the 390. Not sure if you still have all those options in the UK though.

      @@doomermotorsports thanks , afraid not just the crf300L, the 690r is but under the travel section of KTM and cost is £11000.00 new

    • @doomermotorsports
      @doomermotorsports  Год назад

      That's tough, not having many choices. However, I've heard mostly good things about the 300L. Realistically, the power is probably sufficient for most people. Then again, I hear it's detuned a bit for the UK version. Suspension is kind of on the soft side as well, but might be okay for average/smaller riders. Is there any way to buy a bike in a less restrictive country and bring it back to the UK?

    found a dealer that is getting some SMC 690 R in soon how is this different from 690 enduro need your expertise both around £10K mark

    • @doomermotorsports
      @doomermotorsports  Год назад +1

      Apart from the obvious difference in wheels, the SMC has a lower gear ratio for the street, but that's a simple sprocket change. The suspension is also meant for the street though. From what I've read, it uses the WP Apex system instead of the WP Xplor found on the Enduro. So it really comes down to what kind of riding you plan on doing.
