People like you are vilified by the leftist narrative that landlords are extorting people by charging them to live ECT ECT. Meanwhile you have a mortgage on the other end that needs to be paid, and if you're a straight shooter that puts the burden on you to make sure that YOU don't need mortgage forbearance. Vicious loop

Someone down my street whom I speak with once in a while was bragging how genius he was for not paying his “ridiculously over priced rent.” He purchased a wrangler and has been off roading at a local dry lake pretty much every week whilst refusing to pay rent for over a year. I’m curious to see what will happen in such a situation.
I understand there are people who genuinely couldn’t work and pay rent, but from all I’ve seen locally, that’s the exception not the norm. There are no checks and balances and most people aren’t as stupid or morally righteous as people like to believe.

Once you have an eviction nobody will rent to you. If you have low credit and eviction your screwed your stuck in an endless cycle of going nowhere. Maybe credit and evictions shouldn't be everybodies business. There is not enough housing I'm elderly women my S.S. doesn't pay enough so I guess homeless is the option for single women on S.S. who only make 8-9 a month. They must raise that amount. We worked for yrs supplementing our husband's income at low paying jobs while we raised the children now we're divorced or dissabled with not enough money to pay rent and utilities we are in poverty do the math it's just not enough. Who would ever think in America as an elderly woman who did work would get funds so low you can't survive in your elderly years when you so desperately just need a roof over your head just a little place to call your own. S.S. needs a makeover we need at least 1200 a month to pay rent and utilities why are the women always the target of low funds even in old age?

"It's not your property so if you don't pay you get kicked out." "The land owner need money that's why you are getting evicted."
I feel like this is a lack of empathy for people in situations that can't physically pay or other wise they won't be getting evicted. Of course that is a simple concept of you have the privilege of saving up and getting a job with in reason of losing the last during these hard times. I feel to me that these people are losing everything and they may be in a position where they have tried all their options.

Jobs are readily available all over the country so much so businesses are raising wages drastically. This is the main problem in america, people have lost the ability to take personal responsibility for themselves.

I heard that employers investigate the person background before offering the job, they don't want people without integrity. One day, an employer called me for reference for my neighbor. One of the question the employer asked me was: "how her home looks like, is she cleaned, tidy, organized"? I got surprised with this type of question that the employer wants to know how the employee keeps their home. But now I understand why this type of question. I have seen employee that was hoarding the office and cubicle, when people walks by, they think "WT..." Now some employers have policy for employee to keep the work area safe, clean, tidy and professional, and personal hygiene. You don't want to hire somebody that does not have common sense consideration for others. So the neighbor was not cleaned, not tidy, not organized; so I got stuck with the answer, but to help the neighbor, I said "Well, I am not sure because I don't go to her home everyday, maybe one day is not that tidy, maybe the person was sick, or something else, and other days maybe she took care of her home". So I tried to sugarcoat, I did not want to say: "Oh one time I went to her home and it was disgusting, and even the birds plate, water container was neglected". So she got the job. However, I regretted helping her not only with reference, but when she got sick, I offered her if she needs help, laundry, errands, etc. I regretted deeply because she is ingrate, grumpy, rude and she did something else that I did not deserve. So I won't help anymore, the more I help, the more I get disappointed. I hate entitled and ingrates, I can't tolerate users, leeches.

The government should not have given money for renters to apply for. Many are not applying on purpose. I have a few who keep telling me they are going to get assistance or pay the bill themselves, by they refuse to turn in the rental assistance application.
The government could have prevented this problem by buying the rental debt outright dollar for dollar then acted as a debt collector.
As it is now I'm going to have to get a lawyer who will likely be overwhelmed with other evictions to help me evict tenants that refuse to pay.

Even if you leave, you’ll still the owe money for the contract you signed, which will also follow you while trying to relocate if it’s already been reported to credit bureaus. “Skipping out on a lease” will make you vulnerable legally, no landlord would rent to someone with that on the record of an applicant unless the applicant has receipts to prove they’ve paid their debt.
In some states it’s illegal to have two leases at one time so you’re actually still in a legally binding contract until the eviction goes through or you’ve paid your debt as outlined by the lease… depending on the state, you could be sued for breach of contract. Also finding a new place to live costs $$$ between app, admin and potential deposit…

We are living in a time when people are actually allowed and encouraged to steal other peoples property. No other circumstances would it be OK for someone to use services and expect to not have to pay for them.
This is why there is a shortage of affordable housing. Because housing in the middle range or the low range is not owned by giant corporations. Those houses are owned by individuals who use it as income. The bureaucracy and the legal system constantly on the side of a person stealing your property or destroying it has made people decide it’s not worth it. They sell the homes to a nice family who set up housekeeping and I don’t have a hassle anymore. But you also don’t have affordable housing anymore.

There are some countries that only rent if you pay 8 months in advance plus guarantor, plus you need to have job, references, plus this and that, then before 8 months if you want to continue in the apt, you have to pay another 8months. They even call your employer asking how long you have been working there, and ask what's the probability the company will keep the employee. Low? Medium? High? They do that because of bad reputation of some people. It's trust issue. Even me that was already 15 years at the same work, and housing crisis did not existed yet, and the landlord called my employer asking my boss if I would be kept at work for next long years, plus they ask your credit score, this and that, specially if they have several tenants wanting the same apt. Portugal is asking for 8months advanced payment, and also they don't want to rent to trouble people with history of nuisance, behaviors, etc. I can't blame them. The world gets better when there are disciplines and rules.
