The truth is that Suman Kalyanpur''s voice was sweeter than Latha''s, but as Latha had a strong hold on the strings that are pulled in the film industry, Suman Kalyanpur faded into oblivion. The cruelest moment was when Latha ''grabbed'' the song that was supposed to be sung by Suman Kalyanpur - Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon. This happened on the podium where Prime Minister Nehru was also present. This song sung by Latha has now replaced ''Abide with me'' that was played on Independence Day during the Beating of the Retreat.
