Legend of the Blue Dragon 🐉🫅 Dragon's Wrath vs. King's Courage
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Narration :
In the Joseon era, at the heart of Hanyang, stood Dongdaemun, a vital gate protecting the city.
Its ceiling bore mystical paintings of a Blue Dragon and a Yellow Dragon.
During the reign of Taejong, the third king of Joseon, there was a severe drought. The crops withered and the people suffered.
To protect the people of Joseon, King Taejong established Five Dragon Altars and held a ritual for rain.
He created a clay dragon image at the Eastern Blue Dragon Altar in the east.
    The long-awaited rain finally came.
However, the Blue Dragon saw this as an invasion of its territory and sought to destroy Dongdaemun.
King Taejong needed to protect Dongdaemun and pacify the Blue Dragon.
The Blue Dragon was powerful and deeply attached to its territory, making it difficult to persuade.
King Taejong recognized the realm of the Blue Dragon and planned to paint its image on the ceiling of Dongdaemun within three days, asking it to become the guardian of the gate.
Three days later, the Blue Dragon, seeing its own image painted on the ceiling of Dongdaemun, deeply contemplated its role.
The moment of choice approached: to protect or to destroy Dongdaemun.
At that moment, Taejong made another suggestion to Blue Dragon.
“Your brave and kind deeds will be passed down from generation to generation, and when I die I will be your friend in heaven.”
Ultimately, the Blue Dragon accepted its role as the guardian of Dongdaemun.
It transformed into the protector deity of Hanyang, and its image remained forever atop the gate.
With the Blue Dragon's protection, Dongdaemun continued to be an essential gate of Hanyang.
The reconciliation between King Taejong and the Blue Dragon brought prosperity and stability to the land, and this tale, symbolizing Korea's history and mythology, has been passed down through generations.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When King Taejong was in his later years and had little time left for his future,
the weather had been so dry for a long time that prayers for rain were held at almost all mountains and streams at home and abroad.
He was distressed and said, “How will the people live in the future because of the drought?
“I will go up to heaven and announce this so that it will immediately rain.”
Indeed, the next day, the king died, followed by heavy rain and finally a good harvest.
Since then, it was said that it rained every year on this day, so people called it TaeJongWoo.
