Regarding 6:55, the edge design on Benedetto Pistrucci's original coin from 1817 is known as "The Order of the Garter". The Most Noble Order of the Garter is a chivalric order of knights whose motto is "Honi soit qui mal y pense" which means shamed be whoever thinks ill of it. The Most Noble Order of the Garter was established by King Edward III of England in 1348. It is the most senior order of knighthood in the British honors system. The Garter itself is a blue velvet ribbon with gold embroidered lettering and a gold chape and gold buckle which is strapped onto the left leg below the knee to indicate the knight's membership in this most esteemed order.
King Edward II of England was dancing at a ball when his partner the Countess of Salisbury dropped one of her blue leg garters to the floor. As bystanders snickered, Edward gallantly picked it up and strapped it around his own leg. He then admonished the courtiers by speaking in French his famous phrase “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (which in English translation means “Shame to him who thinks evil of it". The Order of the Garter is also featured as a blue belt strrapped around the Royal Coat of Arms.
I got the 2oz from the Royal Mint, then later because I fell in love with the coin , I purchased the 5oz from the secondary market , I paid £300 over the original rm price, but now it's £1000 over the original rm price, but I will never sell it, because I'm in love with it ❤
Sorry for the late response, I purchased it directly from the Royal Mint in the UK on release day! The price was in Aud. Happy to have purchased one. Did you end up getting one? Thanks Dan
