It's a great all-around versatile guitar. I've noticed this since making the video, though...the 41mm nut is a little small for my bigger hands. I've found that 43mm makes a big difference. So if you have a ruler, make sure the size you have now and see if you'll be ok with that width. My hand spans 9.5" inches from thumb to pinky.
You know... this is my first one with a coil split, and I’m a little unimpressed with that feature... it kinda just cuts the volume and makes it a little thinner. I think maybe it’s kinda something that’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Not just this guitar but the concept maybe. But everything else about this guitar is incredible and the alnico pickups have a tone like I’ve never heard before. Absolutely love it and recommend it.
@@justinbishopmusic Ah! That's a great point man! You do lose volume. However there are many extra tones with the added function. I am into exploration and don't do much repetition or others works so the thinner tone can be embraced and dialed for added texture! The sky is the limit!
I might get this. I literally cant decide between a telecaster or an ibanez with HH pickups. This looks like a guitar that can play pretty much all genres
It’s very versatile. The telecaster will probably be easier to play, and you can also get coil splitting on some HH models. Some Ibanez also have a “Wizard” neck which is very thin. Also, if you have big hands, pay attention to nut width. This Yamaha has 41mm nut. I ultimately traded for something with a wider neck. Check the Ibanez AZES.
The sound is pretty much exactly the same with both having alnico v pickups. I actually traded the Pacifica for the Tagima., and so far I can say I made the right move. The Tagima was $379, so I think this video is still true in that the Pacifica is the best I’ve played under $300. The biggest difference for me was the Tagima has a 43mm nut while the Pacifica has a 41mm. My hands are larger, so it felt a little cramped, and I was able to get the action lower on the Tagima. The Tagima has a gloss finish on the neck, better tuners with the slot, and a floating bridge (which some people hate because it’s more finicky, but I love it). Some people prefer the satin neck of the Pacifica which was also thinner. I guess the Tagima is more Fender-like while Pacifica is more higher-end Ibanez type, and if you want to do metal, definitely the Pacifica because of the humbucker. But since I have a real Les Paul, I decided just straight up 3 single coils was all I really need. I’m happy with my trade and I think the Tagima is an upgrade.
@@justinbishopmusic Thanks for all the detail. Like you I think $300 can buy you a relatively good guitar these says. I recently played the Mitchell mahogany acoustic electric you featured in another video and thought it was great. Love the reviews so keep them coming.
Hi Justin, enjoyed your video and demo of the different tones. It's what inspired me to order the 112V. I just got it, but there's an issue with the tone knob. The shaft that holds the knob wobbles and there's some slack when turning it before it catches to actually adjust the tone. I've tightened the bolt at the base of the knob but it hasn't done anything for me. Any ideas? Thanks!
It’s a “push/pull” knob that changes the sound of the big pickup when you pull it, so it will be a little more loose than the other knob. But if it’s not changing the tone when you turn it, it could be a faulty part. Might need to send back if you can.
I’ve had my Pacifica for several months, and I only found out about the tone knob-split thing by watching this video. #BingeWatchingSavesLives hahahaha!!! Thanks for posting!!

is there a cheaper one that is still good? for me this one is like 410 and thats a bit much for me so what would be basically the same but a bit cheaper?
