- In this video of the Dr Matt & Dr Mike's Medical Podcast, Dr Matt and Dr Mike discuss the biology of PAIN! 😣
They explore the difference between nociception (an objective detection of noxious stimuli) and pain (a subjective unpleasant experience).
Strap in!!
The concept is just madddd, I love you guys
Could not agree more!! As a neuroscientist who lived with medics not enough is educated on this and its fundamental esp to gp training. Well done. Very clear.
Have listened to your podcast on the way to exams. Awesome vids/podcast :)
How about a video on inter-neuron and enkephalin/endorphin/dynorphin synthesis (enymes and cofactors)?
Keep going like these long videos but should be have there drawing ,Thank you very much
You are the best ever, thank you
❤🎉 big fun here.. you guys deserve more credit. ❤
Great info and depth of discussion, as always. Your vids rock and have helped me in nursing school so much! I do have to say that your podcast dialogue is somewhat awkward, however. I think switching roles and really letting Dr Matt lead while Dr Mike plays the idiot savant/Socratic recipient for a few casts might be really helpful in that regard. Anyhow, cheers from the States and thank you for the excellent content!
I love learning from you gents - thank you so much.
I need to correct Dr Mike - you should know better than anyone, humans CANNOT derive energy from calories. Calories are HEAT. Heat can only transfer via photons. There is no pathway in the human body to use or store photons for or as energy. Our body's energy currency is ATP and this is the result of chemical processes.
Calories are at best a useless grossly inaccuate proxy. Calories are an idea, a construct to describe energy.
Think of this, unless you wish to disagree with e=mc2 then the correct number of KCals in a gram of anything is 21,480,764,310
This is so super helpful! I have super high levels of GAD65 (I am a t1 diabetic) which I understand inhibits glutamate. I have been struggling with some odd symptoms for years, but now this totally makes sense to me. If I have low levels of glutamate, it is possible my nerves just can't fire correctly. I have been working on rewiring my brain, its slowly helping, but I have been stuck for a while. I might talk to my dr about possible glutamate supplementation.
Very interesting from 51:00 min. to 58:47 min. , and 1:02:16 min.
