They're not gonna miss time. Remember, in the hockey world there are deadlines, and then there are DEADLINES. Even though it seems like they should have a deal now, there's technically no rush for either side, until the time starts coming for camps and whatnot. That marks the hard deadline, and once we get closer to that, and the true urgency starts settling in for both sides, you'll see a deal done.
Seider is probably looking at getting more than Jake Sanderson. Raymond is probably pushing for $8M. There is no way either of these players are taking deals on their contracts after watching how Yzerman has spent on low quality UFAs over the years.
All you have to do is look at how yzerman has handled high profile signings in the past. It's kind of simple to be honest lol not sure what all the commotion is about. They'll be signed probably some time in August, yzerman takes his time (and always has) and that's pretty much it lol
My guess is Yzerman Has spoken to both, and are working to see what bridge deal they get based on Yzerman Moving some cap around or even another player I wouldn’t be worried, Husso and Holl for Laine or something of the sorts to really have a playoff push team, some good money comes off the books next year and lots young guys ready to move up to the nhl
A lot suggests that S.Y will not give more than 10.4% of the cap for any one off them. If you look at what Larks got, we are there % wise and he is clearly the best player RW has and has shown it year after year.
I’m speculating that he may be still trying to make a trade then know what cap space is left but there isn’t anyone out there at this point that would be a fit or an upgrade. Money wise they had the window to buy out Husso and didn’t so that tells me he’s not worried about the cap space they have. Hope these get done for 8 yrs and soon if they bridge they will pay a ton when their contracts are up and the cap is up.
I read that article yesterday. I’m hoping they get signed soon. I know they will get signed but I’m still a little anxious. I really hope they both get 8 year deals.
There are roughly twice as many forwards in the league as there are defensemen. A defenseman of Seider's caliber is, then, roughly twice as rare as a forward of Raymond's caliber. This is all to say that I'm pretty sure the market for high quality defensemen is just a little bit higher given the position, relative to a similarly high quality forward.
there are a few more people that most everyone seems to disregard. and those people are the players agents, j.p. barry, claude lemieux and scott bartlett. they are all going to want their pound of flesh no matter how much raymond, seider and berggren want to get a deal done. steve will need to sign berggren first, for a reasonable deal and then follow through with a deal will be either need to be short, or a bridge deal, with a dollar amount to make the others all happy too, and a commitment to a new contract for each prior to the end of their current deal. with the future cap money hikes and resigning a couple of players who are overpaid or their trade or release. by then the roster should be getting a compliment of replacement players on a regular basis.
The guy answering these questions seems to think a bridge deal isnt what the players want, and that also the team would much rather have 8 year deals in place for both guys. I think the sticking point is between just that. Players will want to max out there money, so bridge deals make the most sense for both. Once they get the last year of that bridge deal, they hold all the leverage and will get paid much more than a long term deal.
IF the wings wants both locked for 8 years there is currently not enough cap space. Seider is looking for at least 9 and Raymond would want 8.5. And then Yzerman signs Veleno for over 2. Pure idiocy...
Don’t matter…Wings aren’t ready to win, so more important for Yzerman to work out better team contracts. Also, puts our bad contracts one year closer to being off the books. Need players that are in Detroit to win and willing to sign team favorable deals. Tom Brady won super bowls because he understood making less money meant better impact players.
@@hockeytalk13🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️the wings are the best they’ve been in 8 years. And the prospect pool is deep. The redwings will be a competitive team for the next 10 years… thanks to yzerman. Be patient.

I have no worries at all they will be signed before camp, I think both to 8 year deals probably both in the 8-8.5 mil range

Steve’s going to get the best deal he can, he’s KNOWN for this. Not worried.

Why would seider get payed more than lucas

I don't get why it just wasn't 8x8 for both as soon as the season ended.

They won't sign above 8.5M
Ansar Khan? LOL...okay. Next!
Ansar is completely plugged in with the RW. Dumb comment
I think they could both get 6.75 deals for 4 years then they will get that 10+ million deals for 8+ years
The yzerclown will send Raymond and their first round pick to Toronto for future considerations
