- Kuching(古晋) is the capital of the state of Sarawak(砂拉越) in Malaysia(马来西亚). Known for its rich history and cultural diversity, Kuching is a vibrant city with a unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures. The city is located on the banks of the Sarawak River(砂拉越河), which provides a picturesque setting for the city’s charming waterfront.
One of the most iconic landmarks in Kuching is the Kuching Waterfront(古晋河滨公园). This beautifully landscaped promenade stretches along the river and offers stunning views of the city’s skyline and historical buildings. The waterfront is a popular spot for both locals and tourists to take leisurely strolls, enjoy local street food, and watch cultural performances.
Kuching is also famous for its cat statues, which are found throughout the city. The name “Kuching” means “cat” in Malay, and the city embraces this association with numerous cat-themed attractions. The Cat Museum(猫博物馆) is a must-visit for cat lovers, showcasing a vast collection of cat memorabilia and exhibits.
Another significant attraction in Kuching is the Sarawak Cultural Village(砂拉越文化村). Located at the foothills of Mount Santubong(圣图邦山), this living museum provides visitors with an immersive experience of the traditional lifestyles of Sarawak’s various ethnic groups. Visitors can explore authentic longhouses, watch cultural performances, and participate in traditional activities.
Kuching is also known for its vibrant food scene, which reflects the city’s multicultural heritage. Sarawak laksa(砂拉越叻沙) is a must-try dish, featuring rice vermicelli in a spicy and tangy coconut milk-based soup, topped with shrimp, chicken, and bean sprouts. Another local favorite is kolo mee(哥罗面), a dry noodle dish served with minced pork and char siu.
Kuching’s Chinatown(唐人街) is a bustling area filled with heritage buildings, temples, and vibrant markets. Carpenter Street(木匠街) and India Street(印度街) are particularly famous for their traditional shops and eateries. The Tua Pek Kong Temple(大伯公庙), one of the oldest Chinese temples in Sarawak, is located in this area and is a focal point for the local Chinese community.
The city also has a thriving arts scene, with various galleries and cultural events throughout the year. The Sarawak Museum(砂拉越博物馆) is one of the oldest museums in Southeast Asia and offers a comprehensive collection of artifacts and exhibits related to the natural history and cultural heritage of Sarawak.

Kuching certainly is the cleanest, serene and most relaxing city in Malaysia. For a city with a population of almost 1 million in terms of Greater Kuching, it is very well managed in terms of landscape and cleanliness. However, the infrastructure of the city isn't on par or at least updated and upgraded to cater the ever growing population, visitors and vehicles that is growing at a pretty fast rate every year.

Saya kasih saran agar kota anda terlihat rapih! 1)buatlah jalur pejalan kaki walaupun ukurannya kecil.2) kurangi toko yang pake spanduk terpal kesannya kumuh 3)marka jalan diperjelas seperti garis parkir khusus motor dan kereta! Petunjuk arah, garis putus2 jalan dan banyak lagi! Cobalah lihat kota lain diluar negara kamu lalu yang bagus dicontoh! Percuma kalian sombong kota kalian saja amburadul gak jelas seperti ini!🤭
